Chapter 137 Got the Documents

Gabriel returned to the room late at night, and Jessica was already asleep.

He moved quietly and lay down on the floor beside the bed. Rather than sleeping, he was just lying there.

That night, he was almost entirely sleepless.

Early the next morning, the two packed up and headed back.

As they left, Jessica took one last look at everything, and her eyes filled with nostalgia.

Although the place was simple, the stories of Xavier and Ximena made the humble little house particularly endearing.

This was Xavier and Ximena's old residence. After the divorce, she probably wouldn't have the chance to come back.

In the future, he might bring someone else here, his beloved girl, his next wife, and his children.

Thinking of this, Jessica suddenly felt a sharp pain in her chest, like being pricked by needles.

Yes, soon everything would be like a passing cloud. What was there to fuss about?

Things that weren't hers, she could never hold onto.

"Let's go!" Jessica turned around.

Because they left early, the plane arrived at around ten in the morning.

After getting off the plane, Jessica looked at Gabriel. "Are you free today?"

"Yes," he replied.

Jessica said calmly, "Then let's go find Jonah and Danielle today, get the documents from them, and then handle the divorce procedures."

Hearing this, Gabriel's tall and upright body seemed to be struck by lightning, standing there in a daze.

Although he knew she was determined to divorce, he never thought it would be so soon. She would be so eager to handle it right after getting off the plane.

Was she that impatient?

His chest felt like it was being flooded with salty, bitter water, extremely uncomfortable.

He clenched the suitcase, and his long fingers turned almost white from the force. After a long time, he managed to squeeze out a word from his throat. "Okay."

They took a car together to the Ancestral villa.

When they arrived, Danielle and Jonah were not home, which made it convenient for them to get the documents.

Jessica breathed a sigh of relief, and Gabriel did, too. He said, "Since Danielle and Jonah aren't home, let's come back another day to get them."

Jessica replied, "It's good that Danielle and Jonah aren't home. We can take the documents directly to avoid their disagreement."

Gabriel asked in confusion, "Aren't the documents with them? If they're not here, we can't get the documents and handle the procedures."

"The documents are in Xavier's room. Before leaving, Xavier gave the key to Danielle. And Danielle gave me the key a long time ago." Jessica took out a key as she spoke.

Gabriel was stunned for a moment before he realized, looking at Jessica's bag. "So, before we went to Xavier's old residence, you already had the key with you."

"Yes, to avoid having to come back for it," Jessica said calmly.

Her simple words made Gabriel's heart ache deeply.

She had brought the key long ago, which meant she had planned everything.

That's why she was so eager to handle it right after getting off the plane, not willing to wait even a moment.

Was being with him now so torturous, so painful for her?

Looking up, Gabriel's chest was filled with bitterness. "Jessica, you had everything planned out long ago, didn't you?"

Jessica looked at him calmly. "Since I've decided, I should act immediately, right?"

No one knew how much courage it took for her to ask for a divorce, how much it hurt. She was afraid that if she waited a little longer, if she delayed a bit more, she wouldn't be able to go through with it.

These days, they had been getting along well, and at times, she thought they were in love, that they were happy.

But when she saw everything clearly, she was instantly brought back to reality.

In love?

How could that be?

It was always one-sided on her end in their relationship.

Ten years, too exhausting.

She didn't want to chase anymore; she was tired and wanted to rest.

In Xavier's room, Jessica quickly opened the second drawer with the key.

There were the documents Xavier left for her and a letter.

[Dear Jessica,

If I pass away, the one I worry about the most is you. Giselle is gone, Carter is the way he is, and Gabriel, I know, has a divided heart, always thinking about Diana and wanting to divorce you.

Jessica, I know everything. I haven't been in the business world for anything all these years; nothing escapes my eyes. I just didn't want to expose it.

People say that a woman marrying the right husband is important. I say that a man marrying the right wife is important.

Whether it's Ximena, Danielle, or you, you are all the best choices for wife, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter-in-law in my heart.

When you grow old, have children, and become the head of the family, remember my words- the Walton family is already wealthy and powerful enough, a noble family.

We don't need to enhance our status through marriage alliances. The girl our children marry doesn't have to come from a noble family; as long as she has a clean background, the most important thing is her character and kindness.

Those who are not frugal, love luxury, and do not work hard will squander their wealth no matter how rich they are.

But those who are diligent and hardworking will become wealthy again even if they fall on hard times.

The Walton family has been wealthy for three generations and will continue for a long time. It won't always be smooth sailing; there will be bumps in the road. Only by working together as a couple can you overcome these challenges. This is also my responsibility to you. You must pass on this mindset from Ximena. Only then will the Walton family remain strong and get better and better!

These are jade earrings. When Ximena left, she left two sets of precious jewelry, one set for Danielle.

This set is for the granddaughter-in-law. I have already given you the bracelet. As for these earrings, because I always thought of Ximena, I kept them as a memento. Now that I'm about to pass away, I'll give them to you.

Jessica, I know you have grievances.

When you read this letter, I will have passed away. If you don't want a divorce, tell Jonah and Danielle. They will help you and won't let you and Gabriel divorce.

If one day you are really too aggrieved, too tired, and can't hold on, I won't force you. Although I don't want you to leave the Walton family, I hope you live well, happily, and joyfully.

So if that day comes, even if you really separate from Gabriel, I won't blame you. I will still bless you.

Jessica, you must be happy. This is my greatest wish!]

By the time she finished reading the letter, Jessica was already in tears.

Xavier had considered everything, providing her with warmth and care without imposing any psychological pressure.

Jessica muttered, "Xavier, thank you. I'm sorry I couldn't continue living with him, but rest assured, I will live well and not disappoint you."

When Jessica went down with the documents, she happened to run into Jonah and Danielle coming back together.
