Chapter 440 Two Grown Men Going to a Couple's Restaurant
"Chelsea, I've been too lenient with you. Fine, let's get a divorce!"Henry's voice came through.
Hearing this, Chelsea's anger, which had just subsided a bit, flared up again. "Fine, let's go file for divorce right now!"
Ignoring Gabriel and Jessica, Chelsea grabbed Henry's hand and stormed towards the courthouse.
Since they had run into them, Gabriel and Jessica couldn't just stand by and watch Chelsea and Henry get divorced.
So Jessica and Gabriel stepped forward, each grabbing one of them.
"Chelsea, long time no see. Let's catch up. Aren't you surprised to see me back?" Jessica said, trying to change the subject while holding Chelsea's hand.
Chelsea's heart softened, and she nodded. "Jessica, of course. When Mom told me the good news, I was over the moon."
"Not just you, I heard about Freddy and Gilbert too. I was planning to visit you all in the next few days, but..."
She glanced at Henry, her mood dropping. "As you can see, Henry and I are having major issues right now. I wanted to sort out my stuff before seeing you guys. I didn't want to make you unhappy the moment we met."
"Then just ignore him. It's almost noon. Come on, I'll treat you to lunch."
Chelsea had just taken a step when she suddenly turned around and looked at Henry standing to the side. "Hey, are we getting divorced or not? Give me an answer!"
"Let's just talk about it after lunch. The courthouse isn't going anywhere," Henry said awkwardly.
Although his words weren't exactly pleasing, they did help ease the tension between him and Chelsea.
"Jessica, let's go eat then. But right now, I only want to eat with you." Chelsea quickly linked arms with Jessica.
Jessica smiled and agreed, "Alright, just the two of us then."
They got into the car, with Chelsea driving.
Since she knew they would be chatting, Jessica specifically chose a restaurant with good privacy and booked a private room.
Watching Chelsea's car drive away, Gabriel looked at Henry with a wistful gaze.
"Tell me, what's the reason for the divorce this time? Can't you and Chelsea give me a break? Always talking about divorce every few days? I might as well move the courthouse to your house, so you can get divorced and remarried, over and over again."
After Gabriel's stern words, Henry scratched his head in embarrassment. "Gabriel, I don't want a divorce. It's just that whenever we argue and get angry, we talk about divorce."
"And you know Chelsea's temper. Once I agree, she insists on storming off to get a divorce."
Gabriel raised an eyebrow. "Since you know her temper, why don't you just give in a bit during arguments and not bring up divorce so easily?"
"You've been married for five years now. Despite all the arguments, you've gotten used to each other's presence."
"If you got divorced, both you and Chelsea would regret it. So don't talk about it so easily."
After the lecture and some time to cool down, Henry realized some of his mistakes. "Thanks, Gabriel. I'll reflect on my actions."
"Alright, let's go. It's noon. I'll treat you to lunch."
Since Jessica didn't take Gabriel along, he had to find his lunch for him and Henry.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Henry was surprised.
"Gabriel, you brought me to this restaurant? This is a super popular couples' restaurant. Isn't it a bit inappropriate for us to be here?"
Gabriel looked dashing and manly today, exuding a CEO vibe.
But Henry was different. With his glowing skin and today's outfit, he looked quite delicate next to Gabriel.
It had to be said, that two men eating at a couples' restaurant drew attention.
As soon as they walked in, they became the subject of everyone's whispers and glances.
Gabriel was unfazed, but Henry felt very self-conscious.
This contrast in expressions only made people more convinced of their assumptions.
Fortunately, they soon entered a private room, and Henry finally breathed a sigh of relief. Otherwise, he would have died of embarrassment from all the stares.
The waiter poured water, and Gabriel took a sip.
He finally spoke, "Don't get the wrong idea. Today, I proposed to Jessica and she agreed, and I had booked this couple's restaurant long ago to celebrate. But since your wife and my wife left together, I had to bring you."
"This place is very popular, and reservations are scheduled only by time. I waited a month for this spot. And it can't be rescheduled. I didn't want to waste it."
"I heard the environment and food here are great, perfect for couples. So I wanted to check it out. If it's good, I'll book it again for Jessica."
Hearing this, Henry felt much more at ease.
"Gabriel, you and Jessica have been together for so long. How do you keep the love alive?" Henry asked, taking the opportunity before the food arrived.
"After experiencing and missing out on so much, we realize what we truly want. Time removes all the superficial and fake things, leaving only the truest and most desired."
"I've seen a lot happened between you and Chelsea over the years. Have you ever thought about why she always likes to argue with you? Sure, you were a good match and it was a family arrangement."
"But now, it's different. A girl only gets jealous and angry if she likes someone. If it were just an irrelevant stranger, she wouldn't care."
"Think about it."
The dishes were soon served a beautifully arranged meal.
Gabriel took a photo and sent it to Jessica.
He added a few sad emojis.
Jessica: [You two men eating such a fancy meal and you're still sad?]
Gabriel: [We didn't even get to celebrate the proposal. My wife left with another woman. How can I not be sad?]
Jessica chuckled softly, then noticed a small detail in the photo.
She saw the restaurant's name on the napkin and realized Gabriel was at a couples' restaurant.
Gabriel and Henry were at a couples' restaurant.
She didn't even need to close her eyes to imagine the scene.
Quickly typing, she replied.
Jessica: [A couples' restaurant? You and Henry?]
