Chapter 592 First Meeting
Alfonso, being quite burly, gently extended his hands and effortlessly lifted Gilbert and Freddy, one on each side.
"Thank you, sir," Freddy said, rubbing his butt.
Gilbert added, "Thank you, sir."
Alfonso smiled kindly and nodded, "Hello, I'm Alfonso Harvey. Are you two alright?"
Gilbert and Freddy responded in clear, sincere voices, "We're fine. Sorry, Mr. Harvey, we accidentally bumped into you. Please forgive us."
Alfonso smiled and said, "It's not your fault. I should apologize too; I messed up as well."
Alfonso rarely encountered such adorable children, and they were twins. What struck him most was the immediate warmth that enveloped him upon seeing them.
So, Alfonso didn't rush to leave the venue. Instead, he was very interested in chatting with Gilbert and Freddy.
Over the years, Alfonso had been diligent and responsible in his work, taking personal care of even the smallest tasks.
However, the weight of numerous responsibilities often left him feeling considerable pressure.
Alfonso never had children, but he loved kids, so he chatted amiably with Gilbert and Freddy.
"Are you two twins?"
Gilbert and Freddy nodded vigorously, "Yes!"
"Let me guess which one of you is older."
Alfonso carefully observed them, then pointed to Freddy on the left, "I guess you are the younger one."
Then he pointed to Gilbert, "And you must be the older one!"
"Mr. Harvey, how did you guess?" Gilbert and Freddy were extremely curious but didn't reveal the answer.
Just then, a familiar voice called out to them.
"Gilbert, Freddy, finally found you. You had me worried."
Seeing Jessica, Gilbert, and Freddy immediately ran over, each grabbing one of her hands, looking especially well-behaved.
"What did I tell you? Come back right after using the restroom. Do you know Mommy has been worried about you?"
Reflecting on Jessica's earlier reaction, Gabriel was still a bit shaken.
So he couldn't help but sternly scold Gilbert and Freddy.
At that moment, Alfonso stepped forward, "So these are the Walton family's two sons. I'm partly to blame for this. I was so engrossed in chatting with Gilbert and Freddy that I forgot you might be worried."
Gabriel had already recognized Alfonso.
He walked over and extended his hand, "Gilbert and Freddy were being mischievous. I hope they didn't bother you, Mr. Harvey."
"No, they were very well-behaved and adorable."
Meanwhile, Freddy and Gilbert had already recounted what had happened to Jessica.
Jessica stepped forward, "Mr. Harvey, I'm Gilbert and Freddy's mom. Sorry for the trouble they caused you earlier. It must have been a hassle."
Alfonso waved his hand with a smile, "No worries, it's just a minor issue."
"Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Harvey. I was deeply moved and impressed by Gabriel's introduction of you at the table. You've contributed so much to charity; it's truly admirable."
"It was just a small effort. I feel like I haven't done enough. You young people will surely do even better."
Then Alfonso looked at Freddy and Gilbert, "You still haven't revealed the answer to me!"
Jessica looked at them, "Go ahead."
Gilbert and Freddy immediately stood neatly in front of Alfonso.
Freddy spoke first, "Hello, Mr. Harvey. I am the younger one."
Gilbert followed, "Hello, Mr. Harvey. I am the older one."
Then Gilbert and Freddy said together with a smile, "Mr. Harvey, you guessed right!"
"Really?" Alfonso was very pleased, and his hearty laughter rang out all around.
After saying goodbye to Alfonso, Gabriel took his family and got into the car.
Watching them leave, Alfonso suddenly sighed.
Alfonso's assistant asked, "Mr. Harvey, why do you suddenly look sad?"
"Just recalled some old memories."
Back then, if it weren't for Alfonso's failure and insistence on breaking up, perhaps he would have kids.
But in that situation, if Alfonso hadn't broken up with her, it might have endangered her life.
"Let's go!"
Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Alfonso spoke.
After driving for just a few minutes, Gilbert and Freddy fell asleep in the back.
Gabriel patted his shoulder, "Are you tired? If you are, lean on me and sleep for a while."
"I'm not tired yet."
With that, Jessica leaned on his shoulder and fell silent.
"What are you thinking about? You look troubled," Gabriel asked.
"Just something strange."
"What's strange?"
"That Mr. Harvey just now gave me a weird, indescribable feeling when I looked at him."
"What do you mean?"
Jessica tried to find some words to describe it but found nothing that seemed fitting.
It was strange, just a feeling, an intuition.
"Maybe I'm just a bit sensitive because of the pregnancy. I won't think about it anymore."
A week later, Gabriel accompanied Jessica to the hospital for a prenatal checkup.
Diane looked at the test results and said, "The fetal heart monitoring looks good, and the recent checkups have been fine. However, considering Jessica's condition, we still recommend an early C-section."
