Chapter 666 Sinister Plot 1

"Send some people over and keep looking for her."

"Check at home too; she might have gone back."

Willie responded, "Yes, Mr. Taft."

Helen was in the emergency room; Grace was missing.

Quentin's eyes were fixed on the emergency room light, torn between choices.

Several times, he took a step forward but then retreated.

His heart was in agony.

He clenched his fists and slammed them against the wall beside him.

Instantly, his hand started bleeding.

Mixed with the bloodstains on his clothes, he looked even more disheveled.

He frantically made several calls, but Grace's phone was off the entire time.

'Grace, please be okay.' In his heart, he prayed over and over again.

Five minutes later, the emergency room door opened.

Quentin and Ruby rushed up simultaneously.

"Doctor, how is she?"

"The fall was quite severe. Due to the sensitive location, there's a blood clot in her brain. While her life has been preserved, there is a possibility that she may linger in a state of unconsciousness." The doctor said.

"What? No, my Helen, she's suffered enough."

Ruby was struck, looking at the doctor in disbelief.

The woman who was usually a force to be reckoned with in the business world was now just an ordinary mother.

Hearing about her daughter's condition, she felt a pain no mother in the world could bear.

Ruby was no exception. She grabbed the doctor's hand forcefully, filled with earnestness and pleading.

"Doctor, please save Helen. She's young and has her whole life ahead of her. She can't spend it lying in a hospital bed."

"Mrs. Taft, we understand your pain, but the location of Ms. Taft's blood clot is indeed problematic. Forcing surgery could be life-threatening."

"So I just have to watch Helen spend her life in a hospital bed?"

Ruby pounded her chest in frustration.

But no matter how much she regretted it, it was of no use.

Compared to Ruby's immense grief and loss of composure, Quentin, though sad, was much more rational.

"Is there no chance she'll wake up?" he asked.

"There is a chance. It depends on Ms. Taft's willpower."

"Okay, I understand. Thank you."

Ruby couldn't accept this reality.

Especially seeing Quentin's cold demeanor, with no expression on his face, she became even more distraught. "Helen is in this condition, and you're not sad?"

"Quentin, don't tell me you're thinking about Grace. I'm telling you, as long as I'm alive, Grace will never marry into the Taft family." She shouted.

"Take my mom home," Quentin said.

"Quentin," Ruby shouted his name in anger.

Seeing no one move, Quentin yelled, "Move now, or do I have to do it myself?"

Ruby's momentum was equally unyielding.

She pushed the people around her aside, glaring, "I dare any of you to touch me."

"I'll give you two minutes. If you can't get my mom out of the hospital in two minutes, you're all fired." Quentin was furious, his eyes bloodshot and terrifying.

"Yes, Mr. Taft, we'll take Mrs. Taft home immediately."

The people around were scared and quickly complied.

Ruby was soon taken towards the hospital entrance.

She didn't want to leave and struggled forcefully, "Quentin, I'm your mother. Are you going to alienate us for Grace?"

Quentin pressed his lips together, clenching his fists.

Throughout the entire ordeal, his face was ashen, and he didn't say a word.

Not until Ruby left the hospital and was completely out of sight did he look at Helen on the bed, gently stroking her, "Helen, I'm sorry to disturb your rest. Don't worry, I won't let you lie in this bed forever. One day, I'll make sure you wake up and stand before me."

"But right now, Grace might be mad at me. I have to find her, so I can't stay with you in the ward. Helen, if you were awake, you'd forgive me, right?" He added.

When he looked up again, his eyes were cold once more.

The warmth and tenderness from moments ago were gone.

"Take Helen back to the ward and make sure everyone takes good care of her."

"If anything happens to Helen, you'll be held responsible."

Everyone nodded respectfully, "Yes."

The remaining people all followed Quentin to find Grace.

The private room was lively.

They showed no signs of leaving.

Because of the alcohol, Grace was a bit tipsy but managing to retain control.

Her biggest discomfort was the burning sensation in her stomach, making her feel awful.

At that moment, a waiter brought a dish and placed it in front of her.

Grace was puzzled.

Caleb placed it in front of her, "The alcohol is hitting you, and your stomach must be uncomfortable. I specially ordered some food to help sober you up. Eat a bit; you'll feel much better."

It was indeed surprising.

Especially Caleb's thoughtfulness and attentiveness, which made Grace feel uneasy.

So, Grace hesitated to take it.

The people at the table joked, "Mr. Harper treats Grace differently."

Cindy also smiled, "Grace, thank Mr. Harper. Mr. Harper isn't this considerate to everyone. To be honest, when I got drunk with Mr. Harper, he never ordered sobering food for me."

Caleb responded with a smile, "Sorry, Cindy. I'll make it up to you next time."

Cindy immediately said playfully, "Mr. Harper, you said it yourself. Don't forget about me."

"Of course not!" Caleb claimed.

Finally, under everyone's watchful eyes, Grace took the sobering food.

"Thank you, Mr. Harper."

For the rest of the banquet, Grace felt like she was on edge.

Fortunately, she didn't drink any more alcohol, and Cindy was considerate, only letting Grace drink a few glasses of juice.

Combined with the sobering food, Grace's stomach felt much better.

Finally, the banquet ended.

Grace was about to leave when someone gently grabbed her wrist. "Grace, wait a moment."

"Mr. Harper, what's the matter?"

"What Cindy mentioned about the role, I'm serious. If you have time, we can discuss it."

"Mr. Harper, it's too late today!"

After a few words, Grace turned around to find that everyone in the private room had quietly left.

Looking around, the room was now just her and Caleb.

"Mr. Harper, thank you for your appreciation. If you think I can play the second female lead, can we discuss it another day?"

Grace didn't want to directly oppose him, so she pretended to agree.

She knew that playing dumb might be her way out.

"Of course, I'm interested. No problem, I'll drive you home, and we can talk in the car," Caleb expressed.
