Chapter 418 Peaceful Years, With You and Me 1
Gabriel's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately wanted to walk over.
But, thinking of how Freddy had just resisted him, he put his foot back down.
After all, he was just a child. He couldn't rush things, he had to be patient.
Jessica silently took Gabriel's hand and comforted him, "Don't worry, I just talked to Freddy. He doesn't hate you, he was just a bit upset on my behalf, so he had a little attitude towards you. Seeing you with Gilbert, he's very envious."
Jessica's words indeed reassured Gabriel.
"Really?" He asked, his eyes immediately filled with anticipation.
"Of course. The fact that he's willing to come out of his room means he's already forgiven you. He might just be a bit shy or unsure how to start interacting with you. Be patient and give him some time."
"And, weren't you just playing games with Gilbert? We could hear your laughter from the room. Freddy was envious. How about you continue playing with Gilbert, and I'll try to get Freddy to join you?" Jessica suggested.
Gabriel nodded in agreement. "Good idea."
Then, he started walking forward.
Seeing Gabriel walking towards him, Freddy clenched the toy in his hand.
His little hands were gripping tightly. Even his heart was pounding.
Just as Gabriel was about to reach him, Freddy instinctively wanted to step back.
However, just as he lifted his foot, he saw Gabriel turn and walk towards Gilbert.
"Gilbert, can I keep playing games with you?" Gabriel reached out and affectionately ruffled Gilbert's hair, a gentle smile on his face.
Freddy bit his lip as he watched.
Gabriel didn't come near him, which should have been what he wanted.
He saw Gabriel only playing with Gilbert, being so affectionate with him. Why did he feel a bit jealous?
Pouting, Freddy felt very unhappy.
At this moment, Jessica walked over, squatted down, and gently asked, "Freddy, you've forgiven your dad, right?"
Freddy looked at the toy in his hand, silently lowered his head, and didn't speak.
In the living room, the joyful sounds of Gilbert and Gabriel playing games could be heard.
Not only that, Gabriel had lifted Gilbert onto his back, then onto his shoulders, almost touching the ceiling. They were having a great time.
Freddy was extremely envious of this scene. His eyes were wide open, almost unblinking, as he watched Gabriel and Gilbert.
Noticing his envy, Jessica gently asked, "Freddy, do you also want to be lifted high like Gilbert?"
Freddy immediately nodded, his voice soft and sweet, "Yes."
"Do you want to play with your dad? He can lift you high too," Jessica continued.
After hesitating for a moment, Freddy nodded. "Okay."
"But, he doesn't seem to like me." Suddenly, Freddy said.
Jessica was startled by this thought and quickly reassured him, "How could that be? Your dad likes you just as much as he likes Gilbert. He just thought you didn't like him and was afraid to get close to you. Your dad loves you very much, just like I do."
"Really?" Freddy's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Of course." With that, Jessica took Freddy's soft hand and walked over.
Gabriel immediately looked over, and this time, he saw the anticipation in Freddy's eyes.
Taking a few steps closer, he squatted down and opened his arms. "Freddy, do you want to come play with me and Gilbert?"
"Are you willing to play with me?" Freddy asked in disbelief.
After all, he had been mean to him not long ago, and he didn't expect him to open his arms to hug him.
Gabriel nodded affirmatively. "Of course. Whatever you want to play, I'll play with you."
"Can you lift me high too?" Freddy immediately asked, his eyes full of anticipation.
After all, as a child, his love for being lifted high was undeniable.
"Of course, if you want, I can lift you high right now."
"Okay!"
Seeing him agree, Gabriel immediately picked him up and let him ride on his shoulders.
However, at the moment he was lifted, Gabriel was quite surprised.
Gilbert and Freddy were twins, born on the same day, and about the same height. So he thought they weighed about the same, but Freddy was much lighter than Gilbert. He lifted him effortlessly.
This completely surprised Gabriel.
At first, Freddy was a bit reserved, but as he spent more time with Gabriel, his shyness and restraint gradually disappeared.
In the end, he was holding onto Gabriel's neck, laughing out loud.
Seeing the three of them having so much fun, especially Gilbert and Freddy, with their faces full of unrestrained and bright smiles.
Those smiles were completely different from when they were with her.
Perhaps their smiles were too infectious, or maybe their joy was too overwhelming. Even though Jessica was just standing by, not participating, just watching made her feel immensely satisfied and happy.
Looking out the window, the sun had already set.
Only a bit of orange light remained, like an arc hanging in the sky.
But even with just a bit of light, the sunset was beautiful.
Jessica felt that everything at this moment was filled with warmth and happiness.
If she weren't in the midst of it, she might not have believed it.
After a while, she changed her clothes. Seeing the three of them having fun, Jessica didn't disturb them and quietly went out.
Unexpectedly, Gabriel immediately noticed and quickly called out, "Jessica! Where are you going?"
Since he and Jessica had just met not long ago, seeing her suddenly going out made Gabriel feel a sense of unease and worry.
Jessica gave him a gentle smile and explained, "There is not enought food in the fridge. I'm going out to buy some, and I'll be back to make dinner for you all."
Gabriel felt relieved. Putting Freddy down, he quickly walked towards Jessica.
He bent down and planted a kiss on her forehead, then softly and dominantly instructed, "Come back soon. Remember, Gilbert, Freddy and I are all waiting for you."
