Chapter 717 Love and Torment
"Mr. Taft, if you're not satisfied, I'll go back and find someone else immediately."
"But..." Although she knew she might get scolded for saying this, she mustered up the courage and said, "Right now, the most famous actors in the entire entertainment industry who are suitable to act alongside Grace are all here."
"If we keep picking, we might choose an unknown lead actor, which could result in the show failing to attract an audience."
As expected, Quentin severely reprimanded her.
"Linda, do you know why I'm not satisfied with any of your choices?"
Linda shook her head. She felt immense sympathy for Willie at that moment.
Luckily, she didn't work closely with Quentin, or she would go crazy.
Quentin pointed to the documents on the table. "Because your direction was wrong from the start. The entertainment industry is indeed a fast-changing field, and popularity and star power are important."
"But stars who rely solely on popularity won't last long. After a few years, they'll be eliminated by the circle."
"If you only pursue good looks, the audience will always chase after the youngest and most attractive actors. Only those with real acting skills and talent, who have been tested and proven by the market, will endure and remain relevant."
"So, I say your direction was wrong."
Linda nodded repeatedly.
At that moment, a person suddenly came to her mind.
"Mr. Taft, I understand what you mean. I do have a very suitable candidate."
"Who?"
"Lyndon Mccall."
Quentin propped his head with one hand and raised an eyebrow slightly. "I think I remember him."
Linda quickly looked up information on Wikipedia and handed it to Quentin.
"Lyndon is an excellent actor, a veteran. He was popular for a while, but because he's upright and refuses to take on bad roles to promote newcomers, he offended the industry and hasn't had any roles since."
"Mr. Taft, his talent is undeniable. He's definitely a powerhouse."
Seeing Quentin hesitate, Linda quickly added the crucial points.
"Most importantly, he's 35, married, with children, and has a very happy marriage. He's never been involved in any scandals with other women."
"Mr. Taft, you can rest assured that there won't be another Marlon situation putting Grace in danger."
Quentin's expression softened. "Sounds good."
He tapped his fingers and said, "Then it's settled. You handle everything else, and if there are any issues, go to Willie."
"Yes, Mr. Taft."
After much effort, they finally chose the lead actor, and Linda breathed a sigh of relief.
Just as she was about to leave, Quentin came out with his suitcase.
And Willie had been waiting outside for a long time.
"Mr. Taft, are you leaving?" Linda asked.
Willie nodded and answered for him, "Mr. Taft's flight is about to depart."
So Quentin was in a hurry to leave; no wonder he called her to discuss work at five o'clock.
He wanted to finalize the lead actor before he left.
Linda checked the time; it wasn't even six o'clock.
At this hour, Grace was definitely asleep.
Considering that Quentin and Grace didn't sleep in the same room, Linda increasingly felt that they had argued.
So, Linda mustered up the courage to speak. "Mr. Taft, Grace probably doesn't know you're leaving now!"
"Why not wait until Grace wakes up and leave later? She can see you off."
Quentin shook his head. "No need, let her rest."
"Okay."
Before leaving, Quentin suddenly looked at Linda meaningfully. "Save my number. In the future, if anything happens to her, no matter how big or small, I want you to contact me or Willie immediately."
"I don't want another Marlon situation, and I don't want to be the last to know. Understand?"
His voice was very stern, and Linda could tell.
"Yes, Mr. Taft, don't worry. I'll take good care of Grace."
"If I need help, I'll contact you immediately."
Watching them leave, Linda lowered her head.
She felt a bit sad that she couldn't keep Quentin for Grace.
Quentin and Grace were already angry with each other. With Quentin leaving, they wouldn't have a chance to face each other, and their misunderstandings would only deepen.
Love between people of different statuses was truly fraught with difficulties!
Now Linda just hoped that Grace wouldn't be too sad when she woke up and found out he had left.
Grace and Linda met after ten in the morning.
The crew had stopped work because of the Marlon incident, so Grace could sleep in.
Another reason was that Grace hadn't figured out how to face Quentin yet.
Linda waited until she finished eating before speaking. "Grace, did you know Mr. Taft went back?"
Grace nodded and continued to drink her water.
Linda was silent.
Quentin and Grace were both so strange, both so calm.
As an onlooker, she was extremely anxious.
"Did you two argue?" Linda finally asked.
"No, we just need some time to cool off."
Grace didn't say much, and Linda didn't ask further.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
It was a package delivered by the hotel front desk.
"What's this? It's so heavy, a big box," Linda said.
Grace was puzzled. "I'm not sure either. They said it's my package. Did you buy something for me?"
Linda shook her head. "No!"
Saying that, Linda immediately stopped Grace. "Don't come over yet. Let me check. Some fans like to play pranks recently. I'll look first, then you can come over."
Linda was very cautious when opening the box.
However, when she saw a bunch of jewelry and hairpins inside, she was immediately shocked.
"Grace, come and look."
Grace walked over and was also stunned when she saw the contents.
This box of items was exactly what Quentin had bought in the store.
Grace thought he was going to take them back for Caroline.
She didn't expect him to send them all to her.
"Wait a moment, I need to make a call."
When Grace called, Quentin had just gotten off the plane.
"I just got off the plane. Are you up?"
"Yes, I received the package. I'm surprised. I thought you were going to take it back."
"Why would I take it back? They were all bought for you."
"But I was right there with you, and you didn't say they were for me."
"Besides you, who else would I buy them for?"
It seemed she had misunderstood him.
She thought he was going to give them to Caroline.
After a moment of silence, Quentin spoke again.
"Although they're not really valuable jewelry, I saw you liked them, so I bought more. You can wear them as you like."
After hanging up, Linda leaned over. "Mr. Taft sent them, right?"
"Yes."
"You two just can't see your hearts. You're in love, yet you insist on tormenting each other."
Saying that, Linda pointed to the documents on the table. "Do you know why Mr. Taft didn't like any of the dozen or so popular stars in there?"
