Chapter 295 A Super Warm Family

Ennifer nodded and said, "Yeah, I could tell. So when I found out he asked Jessica to pretend to be his girlfriend, I didn't blow the whistle. I figured it might be a chance. But Mom, how did you figure it out?"

Alexis sighed and said, "Madison was the one who caught on. She bumped into Jessica and brought her up to keep me company.

"When they went downstairs, Jessica's real boyfriend probably showed up to pick her up. Madison didn't know the whole story and thought Jessica was cheating on your brother, so she caused a scene. Later, Vincent came and explained that his relationship with Jessica was fake, and he just asked her for a favor.

"Vincent is now taking Madison downstairs to apologize to Jessica, so I told you not to call him yet."

Ennifer listened quietly.

Maybe life was just like this; when coincidences piled up, you couldn't stop them.

"When they come back, just act like nothing happened. Don't tell Vincent about my chest pain earlier," Alexis said seriously.

Ennifer nodded, getting her mom's point.

Alexis continued, "I wasn't thrilled about Vincent joining the police force at first. He always felt he owed me. If it weren't for my serious illness this time, he wouldn't have come up with the 'fake girlfriend' idea to make me happy. I know he just wants to make me happy. If he knew about what happened earlier, he'd just feel more guilty."

"Mom." Ennifer hugged Alexis tightly, comforting her, "Don't worry, I love Vincent just as much as you do. No matter what, I'll protect you all and our family."

When her dad passed away, she had promised to protect her mom and her siblings.

Even though she was just a teenager then, she had kept that promise all her life.

"You've worked too hard, Ennifer," Alexis said, hesitating, "If possible, I hope you don't push yourself so much. You're over thirty now; you don't always have to think about us. It's time to think about your own life. Have you met someone you like?"

Ennifer snuggled into Alexis's arms, acting like a kid again, and said, "Mom, I'm not in a rush. Nowadays, women are encouraged to be independent and strong. With my skills, even if I don't get married, I can still live the life I want."

Alexis said, "Ennifer, that's nonsense. You're a girl; you'll get married and have your own kids someday. My illness was treated successfully this time, but I have many lingering issues from my younger years. I don't have any other wishes; I just hope to see you and Vincent start your own families and have your own happy lives before I go."

Ennifer smiled through her tears, "Mom, if Madison heard this, she'd say you're playing favorites. Why don't you say you want to see her get married?"

Alexis smiled, "Madison has always been strong and stubborn, and with you all protecting her, she won't suffer much. I'm very confident in her.

"You and Vincent are my biggest worries. You seem strong on the outside, but you're softer than anyone inside. You always selflessly give for our family, and I truly feel for you."

"Vincent is just as stubborn. The men in the Lucas family are all sincere and unwavering in love. Your grandfather, your father, and now your brother. He's got his heart set on someone who's unavailable, so finding someone else might be tough."

Ennifer said, "Mom, don't stress about it. Your main job now is to get better. Only then can you see all three of us get married."

The mother and daughter shared some heartfelt words.

In the end, Ennifer rested her head on Alexis's lap and fell asleep in her arms.

Downstairs, Jessica was totally surprised to see Madison and Vincent.

"Jessica, I shouldn't have said those harsh things earlier. I'm really sorry. And thanks for helping my mom get Dr. Turner." Madison gave a big bow after saying that.

Jessica was momentarily flattered and quickly helped her up, smiling as she explained, "It's okay. It's all cleared up now."

"So, you forgave me?"

"Yeah, I forgave you." Jessica nodded firmly.

"Great, can I ask you something?" Madison suddenly asked.

After a moment of hesitation, Jessica nodded, "Sure."

Madison immediately stepped forward, hooking Jessica's arm, and walked towards a corner mysteriously.

"Um..." Madison stammered for a while, feeling a bit embarrassed, "I want to ask you; do you really have a boyfriend?"

This question indeed stumped Jessica.

However, she still nodded, replying, "Yes, I do."

"Is it the guy who came to find you in the stairwell?"

"Yes, it's him."

Madison said, "Although the focus was on you at the time, I didn't see the guy's face and don't know what he looks like. I admit he is tall and might be handsome, but I still want to ask you: does my brother still have a fair chance to compete with him?"

"What?" Jessica seriously doubted she heard it right.

She asked, "Are you serious?"

Madison answered, "Yeah, haven't you noticed that my brother likes you?"

Jessica lowered her voice, "I never thought about it that way. I've always considered him a good friend."

Madison said, "But if you look closely, you'll see how much my brother cares about and values you. Although he proposed the fake girlfriend idea, if it weren't you, he wouldn't have invited any other woman.

"Jessica, my brother really likes you. So, I sincerely hope that if you also have feelings for him, please give him a fair chance. If you really have no feelings for him, please reject him early and don't give him any hope.

"My brother is very stubborn. Once he sets his mind on someone, it could be for a lifetime."

Jessica immediately nodded, saying, "Okay, I understand. Don't worry; I'll talk to him."

"Thank you."

Because a patient had an emergency, Tina couldn't handle it alone and needed help, so she rushed out anxiously to call Jessica.

But maybe because she rushed out too quickly, and the floor at the door had just been mopped and was a bit slippery, when she rushed out, she completely lost control.

"Ah, I..."

Seeing she was about to fall, Tina closed her eyes, ready for the fall.

However, the expected pain didn't come.

A warm and strong hand tightly grabbed her.

Turning around, when she saw Vincent's chiseled, handsome face, especially with him in his police uniform, Tina was instantly stunned.
