Chapter 119 Jessica Was Always First in His Heart
Gabriel released Diana and swiftly stepped forward to grab Jessica's arm.
Then, he looked at her deeply and earnestly, saying, "Jessica, calm down. Listen to me. I never intended to harm you. You are my wife, and I would never point a knife at you."
"Really?" Jessica sneered. Then she roared, "But I pointed a knife at the woman you love! If you want to protect her, you must point a knife at me. Gabriel, don't you understand? There is no peace between Diana and me. It's always been either her death or mine. Fine, you choose. Who dies?"
Jessica's words left Gabriel speechless.
At this moment, Diana clung to Gabriel's arm, as fragile as a butterfly.
She said, "Gabriel, please don't argue. I can explain what just happened. Jessica didn't do it on purpose. I heard she had a car accident and came to visit her. I didn't expect her to be so emotional. I wasn't prepared, and that's how I accidentally got hurt."
Diana's explanation was undoubtedly intentional, as it only made things worse.
Moreover, she deliberately mentioned Jessica's car accident to provoke her.
This time, Jessica was indeed infuriated.
She raised the knife again, pointing it at Diana, and shouted in a breakdown, "Get out, get out of here right now!"
"Jessica, don't be impulsive. Calm down," Diana deliberately reminded, pretending to be scared.
But Jessica was no longer buying it. She took a step forward with the knife, and suddenly, several large shards of glass pierced her foot. The pain made her break out in a cold sweat; it was excruciating.
However, she gritted her teeth and endured it.
"Diana, I warn you, get out of my world right now, or I won't hesitate to stab you again." Jessica's eyes were fierce, her actions ruthless, truly looking like she wanted to tear Diana apart.
"Gabriel, help me, save me!" Diana, looking weak and pitiful, hid behind Gabriel.
Gabriel reached out and pulled her and her wheelchair out of the hospital room.
The door closed with a bang.
At that moment, the knife in Jessica's hand fell to the ground with a clatter.
She didn't even have the strength to get back on the bed. She collapsed to the floor, holding her head, and burst into tears.
She muttered, "Giselle, I'm exhausted! Giselle, if only you were here, you would protect me, wouldn't you? Giselle, I miss you so much."
Outside the hospital room, Diana leaned weakly against Gabriel. "Gabriel, it hurts."
Gabriel replied, "Hold on."
A minute later, Gabriel saw Oscar. He pushed Diana toward Oscar, instructing, "Take her to see a doctor."
Diana's face turned pale instantly, almost in disbelief. "Gabriel, what do you mean? Aren't you taking me?"
"Jessica is my wife. I have to stay with her. Let Oscar take you." Gabriel's words made Diana burst into tears.
She clung to Gabriel's arm, crying like a child. "No, Gabriel, I don't want Oscar to take me. I want you to take me. I only want you."
Gabriel's eyes were cold, his tone firm. "Let Oscar take you."
"No." This time, Diana was resolute. "Even if I bleed to death here, I want you to take me. Gabriel, if you don't take me, I won't go, even if I die."
"If you don't even cherish your own life, fine, then stand here and wait until you bleed out," Gabriel said coldly.
Diana never expected such a response. When she heard it, she felt her heart shatter. Gabriel clearly loved her, cared for her. How could he treat her this way?
Crying sorrowfully, Diana said, "Gabriel, how can you do this to me? You clearly care about me, how can you say such heartless words?"
"Diana, once I did care about you, but that doesn't mean I would abandon my wife for you." Gabriel's words shocked and devastated Diana.
She stared at him in disbelief. "Gabriel, what... what do you mean? When Jessica and I were both in danger, you chose me! The person you care about the most should be me!"
Gabriel nodded. "Yes, I did choose you. But I didn't know Jessica had a car accident. I thought it was fake, that she was deceiving me. Otherwise, I would never have left her. So, Diana, I regret it. I regret leaving her. No matter when, my wife is always first in my heart. Diana, this fact will never change."
Gabriel's words plunged Diana into a hellish despair. She stared at him, unable to recover for a long time. She remembered how happy and excited she was when she learned he had come to save her.
She was overjoyed.
She thought she had won, won over Jessica, completely and utterly.
She even believed that after this ordeal, Gabriel would divorce Jessica, and then she would be with Gabriel openly. They would have a wedding ceremony, and she would be the happiest bride in the world.
But now he told her she was wrong, that everything was wrong from the start.
It turned out all the choices were not his true intentions, just a mistake, a misunderstanding.
It shouldn't be like this.
It shouldn't be like this!
The person he loved should be her, only her, Diana.
"No, Gabriel, it's not like this. You are lying. You're testing my love for you, right?" Diana asked, unwilling to give up.
Gabriel still looked at her coldly, his voice firm and unyielding. "I'm not lying to you. If I had known everything, my choice would only be Jessica. Diana, let go. No matter what, I will never be with you in this life."
"No, Gabriel, you're lying. You clearly love me, you clearly want to marry me. I don't believe it. Gabriel, don't lie to me. I will never believe it," Diana shouted excitedly, and suddenly she had an idea and fainted.
Seeing her faint, Gabriel looked at Oscar. "Take her for treatment. Although the wound is still bleeding, it shouldn't be life-threatening."
Oscar answered, "Yes, Mr. Walton."
Hearing the conversation, Diana was desperate.
Even when she fainted, Gabriel didn't come to hold her or take her to the doctor. Instead, he let Oscar take her.
Diana clenched her fists, pretending to be unconscious, but inside, she was filled with layers of anger and gloom.
Diana thought, 'Jessica, it's you, it's all because of you. If it weren't for you, Gabriel would still be mine. He would only pamper me, only love me. All of this is because of your appearance. Jessica, you deserve to die.'
After Diana left, Gabriel pushed open the door to the hospital room and walked in.
