Chapter 309 Desperately Searching for Her

Jessica glanced up and spotted Vincent right away.

Since she had thrown those harsh words at him last time, they hadn't seen each other, not even a single message on Facebook.

Vincent walked over and pointed to a nearby table. "Go sit there and wait for me. I'll come find you when I'm done."

"Okay," Jessica nodded.

But just as she was about to leave, Owen grabbed her arm so hard that she winced.

"No money, no leaving," Owen snapped.

Vincent's eyes narrowed, his voice icy, "Let go."

Owen hesitated, but thinking about the hundred bucks he almost had, he said, "She messed up my clothes. Unless she pays, she's not going anywhere."

He glanced at Vincent, adding, "Or you can pay for her."

"I try to be nice, but you don't want that," Vincent said, grabbing Owen's wrist.

He wasn't even squeezing yet, but Owen's face twisted in pain.

"Let go?" Vincent asked.

"I'll let go; just let go of me first. My arm's about to break," Owen pleaded.

"Don't play tricks; you let go first," Vincent said coldly.

"Okay, okay, my hand hurts." Owen immediately released Jessica.

"Go wait over there," Vincent told her.

"Okay, be careful," Jessica said.

"Yeah," Vincent replied.

Once Jessica was seated, Vincent let go of Owen's arm.

Owen immediately demanded, "Stop stalling and pay me what your friend owes."

Vincent looked at him with disdain. "I saw you rush over and spill her coffee. The coffee ended up on you because of that. Plus, my friend got coffee on her too. So, you should be the one paying."

Owen's face turned a mix of blue and pale.

But seeing no one else around, he got bold again, shouting, "What do you mean I rushed over? Are you blind? She bumped into me. Stop talking nonsense."

Vincent figured talking to this guy was pointless.

He turned to the front desk and spoke calmly, "Hi, my friend was just bumped into. Could you help us out and check the surveillance footage? I might need to call the police."

The front desk staff, impressed by his looks and sense of justice, replied, "Sure, sir. I'll get the manager to help."

Hearing about the surveillance, Owen knew he was busted and bolted without a word, fleeing so fast he didn't even try to defend himself.

Seeing Owen run off, the staff asked, "Sir, he's gone. Do you still need the footage?"

Vincent nodded, "Absolutely. He seems like a professional scammer. Let's get his photo and file a report with the police."

"Okay, sir, you're very thorough."

Vincent said with a smile, "Just a habit."

After dealing with the situation, Vincent walked over to Jessica. "Have you been waiting long?" he asked.

Jessica shook her head. "No, just a bit."

Vincent glanced at her clothes. "How's your outfit? Need to change?"

Jessica looked down. "Just a little spill. I cleaned it with a wet wipe."

"Good, that's fine then."

Jessica smiled. "Thanks, Vincent. If you weren't here, I might've actually paid that guy."

"No big deal, just a small effort."

He checked his watch, and suddenly, they both blurted out, "What are you doing here at this time?"

They laughed at their synchronized question.

"You go first," Jessica said.

"Alright," Vincent nodded. "I just got back from a business trip. Tried coffee at a bunch of places, but something was missing. I missed the taste here, so I came by."

But deep down, he knew it wasn't just the coffee he missed. It was the memories, the moments shared with her. Those thoughts, however, stayed locked away in his heart.

He never expected to actually run into her here. It was a pleasant surprise.

Vincent asked, "What about you? Shouldn't you be at work? Why are you here?"

Jessica hesitated and then fibbed a little. "It's not busy now. I didn't sleep well last night and felt tired, so I came to get some coffee."

After chatting for a bit, they headed upstairs together.

When they got off the elevator, Jessica suddenly stumbled, almost hitting the ground. Vincent quickly caught her.

"Sorry to trouble you again," Jessica said.

Vincent looked concerned. "Have you been really busy? You look pale. Let's get you to sit down and rest."

She had spent the whole night sitting on her bed, unable to sleep. She felt awful, like she could faint any second.

So, she didn't argue. "Okay, thank you."

The nearest spot was a chair by the pharmacy window in the lobby. Vincent helped her over.

As soon as she sat down, Jessica felt even dizzier.

"This seems serious. Let me take you to a doctor," Vincent suggested.

Jessica waved him off. "It's nothing. Just insomnia. I didn't sleep all night. I'll be fine after a rest."

Seeing her determination, Vincent didn't push it.

"I'll take a short nap," Jessica said, closing her eyes.

She must've been really exhausted because she quickly dozed off. Her head wobbled left and right, not finding a comfortable position.

Vincent, seeing this, gently let her head rest on his shoulder.

Unbeknownst to them, Gabriel, who had been frantically searching for Jessica, saw the whole scene.
