Chapter 386 Jessica is Dead 1
Vincent couldn't afford to delay any longer. He picked up the pen and signed his name.
The nurse took the form and went inside, but Vincent's heart was still in his throat.
Outside the room, he paced back and forth.
However, the light in the operating room remained on.
In another operating room just a few floors away, Gabriel had just been wheeled out.
About an hour later, the anesthesia started to wear off, and he gradually regained consciousness, then the first thing he did was borrow a phone to call Jessica.
But how could anyone answer Jessica's phone at this moment?
So, he immediately called Oscar.
When the car exploded, Oscar was slightly injured because he couldn't avoid it in time.
Oscar had just been wheeled out of the emergency room as well, fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening.
Receiving Gabriel's call, Oscar was very excited and immediately shouted, "Mr. Walton."
"Where's Jessica? How is she? Where are you now?" Gabriel asked urgently.
"Mr. Walton, we had a car accident on the way to the hospital. Mrs. Walton was taken to the hospital by the police. I just came out of the emergency room and was about to check on her. I don't know her condition yet."
Hearing the words "car accident," Gabriel gasped.
Instantly, he was very worried.
"Which hospital? Tell me immediately!"
Jessica's life was hanging by a thread, and she was giving birth to his babies.
How could he lie in bed with peace of mind?
He would crawl to Jessica's side to be with her and the babies.
Oscar told him the hospital's name, and Gabriel realized it was the same hospital he was in.
Fortunately, it wasn't too far, he just needed to take an elevator to see her.
Thinking of this, Gabriel's heart surged with emotion, but more than that, he was worried and anxious.
At this moment, Oscar's voice came through again, "Mr. Walton, were you delayed by something? I called you many times, but no one answered."
"I was shot and just came out of surgery," Gabriel said.
Oscar immediately panicked, "What? Shot? Mr. Walton, where are you? I'll come get you right away."
"No need, I'm fine. You go find Jessica and stay outside the delivery room. I need to know her status at all times until I get there."
"Okay, Mr. Walton, take care of yourself."
After hanging up, Gabriel immediately sat up in bed and reached to pull out the needle in his hand.
The nurse was about to come in to add medication and was startled by the scene.
The nurse quickly stopped him. "What are you doing? Why are you pulling out the needle?"
"I have an emergency and need to leave. You're here just in time, take it out for me," Gabriel said firmly.
"You just had surgery, and your wound hasn't healed. You must stay in bed. No matter how urgent it is, you can't leave. If the wound gets infected..."
Before the nurse could finish, Gabriel had already pulled out the needle.
Instantly, blood dripped from his hand.
Bright red drops of blood fell to the floor.
The nurse immediately stepped forward and grabbed his arm, sternly saying, "You absolutely cannot leave. Get back in bed, and I'll reinsert the needle."
Gabriel, however, pushed her hand away without hesitation and, enduring immense pain, staggered towards the door.
The nurse was both angry and worried, but she couldn't just let it go.
She caught up and grabbed Gabriel's arm again. "No matter who you are, you're my patient now, and I must be responsible for you."
"I order you to get back in bed. If the wound gets infected, the consequences will be unimaginable."
Gabriel's eyes shot a sharp look.
His voice turned low and cold, "I'll say it again: even if I die today, I must leave here."
"Hey, why are you so stubborn? This could kill you. Nothing is more important than your own life!" The nurse was both angry and anxious.
"Life is indeed important, but my wife was in a car accident and is fighting for her life. Our babies are being born prematurely. So, no matter what, I must see her and be by her side."
"Let go, or I won't be polite," Gabriel's eyes turned serious and cold.
Perhaps not expecting his words, the nurse was stunned.
When she came to her senses, she was more moved than anything.
To risk his own life to be with his wife—what a profound love.
As a recent graduate who still deeply yearned for love and marriage, the nurse was touched.
She let go of Gabriel.
This time, she didn't stop him and let him walk out of the room.
However, perhaps because the anesthesia had just worn off or because the post-surgery pain was too intense, Gabriel stumbled and fell to the ground after just a few steps.
But he didn't make a sound.
Struggling to stand, he gritted his teeth and continued towards the door.
Again, after a few steps, he stumbled and fell.
The nurse couldn't bear it and quickly ran to grab his arm.
Gabriel thought she was trying to pull him back to bed and immediately refused, "Go away, I don't need you. I said I must be with my wife."
The nurse explained, "No, I'm not pulling you back. Where is your wife? I can help you get there."
Almost in disbelief, Gabriel asked, "Are you serious?"
"Yes, really," the nurse nodded.
Then she started to help Gabriel walk forward.
But Gabriel was six feet tall and heavy, she couldn't support him.
So, after a few steps, they almost fell again.
Reacting quickly, the nurse said, "Wait here for a moment. I'll be right back."
About ten minutes later, the nurse returned with a wheelchair.
Gabriel immediately sat in the wheelchair, and the nurse pushed him to the obstetrics floor.
After asking for the relevant information at the front desk, Gabriel headed straight for Jessica's operating room.
However, when he arrived, the entire hallway was empty, eerily quiet and desolate.
Ahead, there seemed to be a tall, familiar figure.
As he got closer and recognized it, Gabriel called out, "Oscar."
Turning around, Oscar saw Gabriel. His lips trembled, and he was visibly shaken.
The next moment, he burst into tears. "Mr. Walton, I'm sorry, I..."
