Chapter 679 Romance in the Snow 2

"I want you by my side, I want you to stay with me for a lifetime, grow old together."

Grace smiled and planted a kiss on his lips, saying no more.

She no longer dared to take it seriously.

At that moment, the sky exploded with brilliant fireworks.

Countless fireworks formed a sea, each one lighting up the entire night sky.

"Is it beautiful?" Quentin whispered into her delicate ear.

"Beautiful."

Grace answered truthfully.

Thinking of something, she immediately asked, "Could it be that you prepared this?"

"No," Quentin replied, "God prepared it. Maybe God thinks we're a perfect match, meant to be together forever, so He set off some fireworks to celebrate for us."

That night, the two of them drank on the balcony at home.

He had set out the finest tableware and wine glasses.

Red wine paired with the heavy snow outside, a scene of serene romance, couldn't be more fitting.

Grace's glass of red wine was selected by Quentin, who said it had a rich fruity aroma, a mellow taste, and wasn't easy to get drunk on.

She raised her glass and immediately clinked it with Quentin's.

Her red lips parted slightly, "I want to formally thank you!"

"Not refusing anymore?" Quentin was a bit surprised.

Grace smiled softly, "Yes, I've accepted."

As for the real reason, only she knew.

Grace knew her tolerance for alcohol, so she always took small sips and never drank too much.

But Quentin, perhaps too confident in himself, drank a bit quickly.

In the end, when Grace got up to clean up, he was already a bit drunk.

He pulled her to his side, holding her, his voice particularly low, "Grace, did you know? My sister, Helen, is very sick."

"The doctor said she might never wake up again, that she might be bedridden for life."

As he said this, his brows furrowed, and his voice was hoarse.

Grace could tell he was genuinely in pain.

In all their time together, she had never seen him so distressed.

"What happened?" She gently stroked his hair, asking softly.

"On Caroline's birthday, Helen fell down the stairs and hit her head, so..."

He choked up and couldn't continue.

Grace's heart ached deeply.

So, the reason he didn't contact her that day was because Helen was in the hospital, fighting for her life.

And in the following days, he left early and returned late because he was always at the hospital taking care of Helen.

"I grew up with her. She helped me with my homework, played with me, did everything she could for me."

"My mom was always busy when I was a kid, and I only saw her a few times a year. As long as I didn't cause big trouble, I never saw her."

"Even during Christmas, she would talk business at the dinner table, entertaining clients. So in my memory, our family reunions were always just me and Helen."

"At first, it was very sad. I kept waiting for her, hoping she would come back."

"Later, as time went on, we got used to it and just spent time together. It was better if she came back, but it didn't matter if she didn't."

"So Helen is like half a mother to me. The only person in this world I feel I've wronged and owe is her."

Perhaps Grace had experienced a painful childhood.

So when Quentin talked about these things, she could deeply empathize.

The word of family was a joke to her.

Since childhood, she had envied Jessica.

Even though Jessica had a gambling father, she envied how Giselle showered Jessica with love and protection.

In her heart, that was what a mother should be like.

It was what she had always longed for, what she dreamed of.

But she wasn't lucky.

People said she had both parents, but she lived like an orphan.

In fact, she was even more pitiful than an orphan.

"Quentin." Grace held his head, her voice soft and tender, full of affection, "With today's advanced medicine, Helen will definitely wake up."

"She wouldn't want you to be so sad. She would want you to be happy and joyful."

"Really?" Quentin suddenly looked at her like a child, seeking a definite answer.

Grace nodded seriously, "I promise, it's true."

Those who truly love, whether it was family or romantic love, always wanted the other person to be happy.

Just like her, even if they were to part one day, she would wish him well.

After that night, Quentin's work seemed to suddenly become easier.

He used to leave early and come back late, always busy.

But these days, he seemed like a free man, almost always at home.

Willie couldn't handle the pressure and called several times, "Mr. Taft, I beg you, the company is extremely busy right now. Please finish this busy period, and then you can spend as much time with Ms. Morgan as you want."

"There are too many people waiting to meet you; the appointments are already scheduled ten days out."

Quentin remained calm, "Then schedule them from the eleventh day onward."

Willie was helpless.

Three more days passed like this.

The next day, Grace was set to join the crew.

Quentin took her to the airport.

"Let me know as soon as you arrive," Quentin reminded her as they parted.

"Okay." Grace nodded.

"How long will this shoot take?" he asked again.

"Three or four months, not too long." She answered.

Quentin's expression darkened.

He thought it was already very long.

"I'll come visit you when I'm free."

"Okay, you should go back now, I'm going in."

Taking her suitcase, Grace and Linda headed towards security.

Once they were inside, Linda leaned close to Grace and whispered in her ear, "Didn't you notice? Mr. Taft was giving you such loving looks just now."

Grace was quite awkward. "I didn't notice!"

"Really? You have no idea, I was so nervous just now. I was afraid he might lose control and kiss you right there at the airport, making it a hot topic."

Just as Grace was about to tell Linda she was overthinking it, her phone rang.

It was Quentin calling.

"Hello," Grace answered, her voice soft and gentle.

"Suddenly, I regret letting you go in like that. I don't want you to act anymore." Quentin said.

Hearing such sweet words suddenly, Grace didn't know how to respond.

On the other end, Quentin asked, "Why aren't you saying anything?"

"I just don't know what to say." She said.

"Then say you miss me," Quentin replied with a smile.

Grace lowered her voice, feeling a bit embarrassed, "There are so many people here, and we just parted less than five minutes ago."
