Chapter 130 He Just Found Out, and the Baby Is Gone 2

But Gabriel, as if he hadn't heard her words, remained standing there in the same posture.

Jessica roared, "Move, Gabriel!"

Jessica pounded her fists against him, forcing him to retreat.

However, no matter how fast or hard her fists fell, Gabriel silently endured it all, without uttering a single sound, not even a twitch of his eyebrow.

The more he acted this way, the angrier Jessica became.

"Move aside, Gabriel, get out of my way!" Jessica screamed, but Gabriel still stood there like a statue.

"Why won't you move? Gabriel, don't think that by doing this, I'll be touched, that I won't blame you. It's impossible, do you know that? I hate you, I hate you so much."

"If you had come earlier, if I had been taken to the hospital sooner, everything might have been different. The baby might not have left me."

"Do you know how desperate I was at that time? It was raining so heavily, and I was alone, crawling on the ground to the middle of the road to stop a car. I almost got hit."

"I was bleeding so much. There was so much blood, and it kept flowing. I was lying on the ground and begging like a dog, pleading for them to call the police, to take me to the hospital, but no one paid attention to me."

"My phone was broken. I made the last call to you because I believed that even if you loved Diana, you would still know that I am your wife. Even if you didn't love me, you would at least have some responsibility toward me and come to save me. But I was wrong. You're completely consumed by her. There's no room for me in your heart at all."

"Do you know how desperate I was then? You crushed my last hope. Lying on the ground, being washed by the heavy rain, I thought of countless ways to die and the miserable state after death. At that time, I didn't even expect to be alive. I just wanted to die a little more decently. That was my last wish."

Finally, Jessica quieted down.

She wiped her tears, turned around, and forced herself not to cry in front of him.

These days, she had shed too many tears. Her eyes hurt terribly, and she didn't want to cry anymore.

But many times, tears were beyond her control.

"In the end, it was Vincent who saved me. If it weren't for him, I would be dead. Now, lying in front of you would be a corpse." After saying these words, Jessica's strength was almost completely exhausted.

Now, she was so weak that she had no strength left.

Tired, she was so tired.

Her body hadn't recovered properly from the start. The car accident and miscarriage had left her body with severe trauma. Now, after experiencing such intense emotional turmoil, her body couldn't take it anymore.

Jessica murmured, "So, I'm begging you, if you still have any shred of guilt, any inkling of a desire to make amends, please let me go! Divorce is good for both of us."

Seeing her back, Gabriel felt like his heart was being stabbed with a knife.

He had never thought that one day he would be trapped in his own web to this extent, but it was all his own doing.

He wanted to say. 'Honey, I was wrong. Blame me, it's all my fault. I killed our baby with my own hands. I didn't fulfill my duties as a husband or a father. It's all my fault. You and the baby are innocent.'

But did he still have the right? Now, he was utterly unworthy of seeking her forgiveness, let alone asking her to stay.

The 'baby'? This word felt like countless needles piercing his heart, an agony akin to being shot through with a thousand arrows. It wasn't just that Jessica couldn't forgive him; he couldn't forgive himself either.

"I'm sorry, Jessica. I know that nothing I say now will make a difference. You don't want to hear my repentance or my words of guilt."

Gabriel's voice trembled with pain. "However, if I had known everything was real, I would never have abandoned you. If I hurt you before, I take back everything I said. I was looking forward to this baby, I was eagerly awaiting his arrival."

"In my heart, he wasn't a burden, he wasn't a curse; he was new life, joy, happiness. And you, I feel more than just responsibility toward you."

'There's also love.' Gabriel thought, but he fell silent.

He no longer had the right to tell her he loved her.

What right did he have to say he loved her?

He had hurt her so deeply, leaving her heart in ashes; he was too ashamed to speak.

This time, he was the one who was unworthy.

Jessica listened to his words and cried even harder. If only he had told her these things earlier.

Jessica thought to herself, 'Baby, did you hear that? Your daddy said he didn't despise you. Your existence made him happy, and he was looking forward to your arrival. If you heard this, you would be happy, wouldn't you?'

But the baby could no longer hear these words.

What had been done was done. How could a lost life ever return?

Their baby would never come back.

Her emotions were once again stirred up.

Jessica felt dizzy, and with a stagger, she almost fell to the ground.

Fortunately, Gabriel quickly caught her and held her in his arms.

"I'll carry you upstairs to rest," Gabriel said.

Her body was utterly exhausted, and she couldn't hold on any longer. Jessica did not refuse.

In the bedroom, Gabriel placed Jessica on the bed, propped her up with two pillows, and brought her a cup of hot water.

After drinking the hot water, Jessica felt a bit more comfortable.

A sudden silence fell between them.

A vast quiet enveloped the two.

Gabriel said softly, "If you're tired, just take a nap."

"Okay." Jessica nodded.

She was indeed too tired. She closed her eyes and soon fell asleep.

Gabriel didn't leave. He stood on the balcony, letting the cold wind blow over him, smoking one cigar after another. Some smoke scattered by the wind, some he inhaled deeply and exhaled forcefully.

He could exhale the smoke; but how could he exhale the sorrow filling his heart?

Never before had he experienced such agony, wishing he could stab himself multiple times.

A thousand arrows through the heart couldn't compare to this.

The cigar in his hand burned his fingers, and the sudden pain brought his thought back.

Jessica woke up. He moved slowly, walking heavily toward her. If he could, he wished this path could be even longer. Even if he couldn't reach her side, just watching her from afar would be enough, he would be content.

But every long road had an end.

No matter how unwilling, in the end, he still reached the bedside and stopped.

"Jessica," he began, and his heart filled with bitter sorrow.

"Have you made up your mind?" Jessica looked at him, her question firm and resolute.
