Chapter 223 No, Gabriel, Don't Marry Her

Gabriel assured her, "Sweetie, I promise. I'll be back in three days."

Jessica finally let go and nodded. She said sternly, "Don't lie to me."

Gabriel helplessly replied, "Okay."

Jessica went to the kitchen to make a cake. That evening, they had dinner together. Since Gabriel was too full, Jessica packed the cake for him to eat on the plane.

When she was seeing him off, Jessica felt really reluctant. The wind was strong, and Gabriel tightened her coat. He urged worriedly, "It's cold; go back inside."

Jessica shook her head. She insisted stubbornly, "I want to wait until Oscar's car arrives."

Gabriel relented, "Alright."

Gabriel put her hood on and tied the strings. They walked for a bit, and Oscar arrived a few minutes later. Seeing the car, Jessica felt even more reluctant, but they had to say goodbye.

"Take care of yourself over there. Don't get into any danger, and don't go missing again," Jessica said earnestly.

"Okay," Gabriel agreed while he nodded. "Anything else?"

"Goodbye, I'll be waiting for you," Jessica said as she waved.

Gabriel pulled her into his arms and kissed her. Not far away, Vincent, who was about to approach, was stunned. He stood there, hands in his pockets, watching them. Earlier, he had been debating whether to visit Jessica, finally decided to come.

He never expected to see this. Under the night sky, they held each other tightly, as if they were the most loving couple in the world. Their feelings were intense and passionate.

Vincent had realized that he never had a chance. He had thought about burying his feelings, knowing he couldn't be with Jessica. But Ennifer's words had given him hope.

On his way, he wondered if he could compete with Gabriel. But now, he felt defeated without a fight. He and Jessica could only be friends. At least it was better than losing contact completely. With a lonely smile, Vincent turned and disappeared into the night.

In the car, he called Ennifer. He pleaded, "Ennifer, keep this secret for me."

Ennifer didn't ask much. She knew it hadn't been a pleasant visit. She just supported him unconditionally.

Due to the time difference, when Gabriel arrived, it was already midnight for Jessica. He didn't call, just sent a Facebook message.

Gabriel: [Jessica, I arrived. I miss you.]

His assistant rushed him to the hospital. Diana was in the ICU, covered in tubes, looking lifeless.

The doctor informed, "Mr. Walton, everything's ready. Once you change into sterile clothing, you can go in."

Gabriel acknowledged, "Okay."

After talking with the doctor, Gabriel changed and went in. Diana lay there, pale and bandaged, in a vegetative state.

The doctor came in and said, "Mr. Walton, talk to her. Say things that might ignite her fighting spirit and hope. It could help."

Gabriel replied, "Okay, I understand."

Gabriel stayed for hours, calling her name, telling her to wake up. But there was no response. Diana remained still.

The doctor returned and asked, "Mr. Walton, what's your relationship with her?"

Gabriel stated, "Friends."

The doctor advised, "But I know Ms. Bush likes you a lot. Try saying you like her too, that you love her, and if she wakes up, you'll marry her. It might help."

Gabriel immediately refused. He said seriously, "Sorry, I have a girlfriend I love very much. I can't make marriage promises to anyone else."

"Mr. Walton, it's just a temporary measure to wake her up. Don't take it too seriously," the doctor explained.

Gabriel stated adamantly, "Even so, I can't say those words. Jessica is the girl I love, and I will only marry her."

Suddenly, the machine by Diana's bed made a loud noise. Her emotions were clearly fluctuating.

The doctor checked and said excitedly, "Mr. Walton, keep talking. She reacted to what you said."

"Which part?" Gabriel asked, puzzled.

The doctor suggested, "I'm not sure. Just repeat what you said."

Gabriel complied, "Okay."

He reiterated, "Jessica is the girl I love, and I will only marry her."

The machine beeped loudly again.

The doctor ran over, excited. Urging Gabriel, "Ms. Bush is reacting strongly to you marrying another woman. She can hear you. Keep going."

Gabriel spoke, "I love Jessica. I've hurt her before, but I want to spend my life making it up to her. Diana, I only feel indebted to you. With Jessica, it's true love. Please understand and don't hurt yourself anymore."

Gabriel said seriously, "Jessica is my lifelong love. You're just a passerby in my life. What's done is done. There's no point in clinging on."

The machine kept flashing and beeping intensely. Suddenly, Diana screamed and opened her eyes, "No, Gabriel, don't marry her."
