Chapter 300 I Believe in Gabriel

After yelling, Diana was all worked up, but Jessica stayed as cool as a cucumber.

Her face didn't change a bit, and she was the picture of calm.

The calmer Jessica was, the angrier Diana got. Diana screamed, "Say something! Why are you so quiet?

"Jessica, you must be hurting so bad right now. You must be in so much pain!

"Good, I want you to feel the same misery I did. Let me tell you, I'm having this baby. Even if I can't be with Gabriel, I'll use this kid to make you suffer.

"Think about it. In the future, some kid who's not even yours will be calling Gabriel 'Dad' every day, walking around in front of you, sharing your inheritance. How would that feel?"

The more Diana talked, the more excited she got, and her laughter got louder.

But she noticed Jessica was super quiet.

From what she knew about Jessica, she should be really mad.

How could Jessica stay so calm after hearing she was pregnant with Gabriel's kid?

It didn't add up.

Slowly, Diana felt something was off.

She stopped laughing and looked at Jessica again, asking, "Why aren't you talking? Or is your heart crawling with a thousand ants, in so much pain?"

Jessica glanced at her coldly and asked, "And you? Why aren't you laughing anymore?"

Diana suddenly had a bad feeling.

The next moment, she saw Jessica walk up to her.

Jessica's eyes fell on her belly with a hint of pity and regret. "Even though I don't know who the father is, from the moment you conceived the baby, it's got to carry its mom's mission, to help you get revenge, to be used by you. I do feel sorry for it."

Diana looked at her in shock, shouting, "Jessica, what do you mean by 'don't know who the father is'? I told you, the father is Gabriel. This is his kid."

Jessica smiled, her eyes on Diana's tense face, and said calmly, "Really? Are you sure this kid is Gabriel's?"

"Of course."

Jessica sneered, "But I've already called Gabriel. He told me himself that this kid couldn't be his. He never touched you."

Diana clenched her fists, her eyes filled with anger and hatred.

After a while, she gave a stunning smile. "Jessica, you're so naive. The stuff between men and women can't be explained in a few words.

"He said he didn't touch me, so he didn't? And you believe him? Like, seriously? You think he'd ever admit to anything?"

It had to be said, these words hit Jessica right where it hurt.

But she stayed strong, not showing any weakness.

Diana continued, "At this point, I won't hide it from you. He never made the first move, but what if I did and he just forgot?"

Diana's words were like a dagger, stabbing deep into Jessica's chest.

Because Jessica knew, given Diana's nasty nature, what she said was very possible.

Her heart pounded, but Jessica held on.

Releasing her tightly clenched teeth, she forced a smile. "Diana, haven't you lied enough? I won't believe your crazy words, nor will I be used by you. And, I believe in Gabriel."

In the past, Diana caused a lot of misunderstandings between them.

But this time, Jessica wanted to be brave. No matter what happened, she chose to believe in him.

Even if she ended up being wrong, she'd deal with it.

"Believe?" Diana scoffed. "Jessica, how much is 'believe' worth these days?"

Jessica replied, "Maybe it's worthless to you, but to me, it's everything. Since I've decided to trust him, I'm sticking to it."

"Then just wait to regret it," Diana snapped.

Jessica smiled. "The one who'll regret it is you. I talked to the doctor, and in about a month, you can have an amniocentesis. Then we can do a DNA test to see if the kid is really his. Since we're both so sure, let's wait and see."

Diana's heart pounded. How could she forget? Jessica studied medicine; she knew more than the average person.

A DNA test?

She wouldn't let it get that far.

Since she said the kid was Gabriel's, it had to be. Even if it wasn't, it had to be.

When Gabriel arrived, Jessica had just come out of the ward.

After her showdown with Diana, she was exhausted.

She was physically and mentally drained.

Gabriel held her in his arms, letting her rest for a bit.

Regarding the "child," it seemed they had a mutual understanding, and neither of them brought it up.

After a short nap, Jessica opened her eyes and said, "It's almost time for my afternoon shift. I need to get going."

"You haven't eaten yet. Eat first before you go," Gabriel said, pulling her back.

Soon, someone brought food.

Maybe she was too hungry, but Jessica ate quickly and felt full in no time.

After eating, she felt much more energetic and her strength returned.

"I'll take you there," he said.

Jessica was surprised. "I thought you would go see her?"

Gabriel held Jessica's hand as they walked. "Jessica, I know no matter how much I say, you won't believe me, but I swear on my life, that child is definitely not mine. I have no ties with her anymore, so I won't go see her. The reason I came is because I was afraid she would say something to make you misunderstand, afraid she would hurt you. I came for you, not for her."

"Thank you, Gabriel."

Jessica felt a warmth in her heart, glad she had chosen to believe in him earlier.

"I asked the doctor, in a month we can do a DNA test..."

Before she could finish, Gabriel nodded. "Okay, I'm willing to do the test, as long as it puts your mind at ease."

Jessica shook her head. "No need, I believe you."

His calm agreement to the test said it all.

Jessica thought, the test didn't matter anymore.

She already believed him now.

As they neared the department, Gabriel pulled her into his arms with a strong motion.

She was about to push him away, saying it was inappropriate.

The next moment, Gabriel's voice sounded in her ear. "Jessica, I won't have children with any other woman. Even if I do, that person can only be you. Suddenly, I really want a baby, one as cute as you. So, can we speed things up a bit? Can you agree to it sooner?"
