Chapter 602 Jessica Woke Up
At first, she could only see a blurry outline.
Quickly, Gabriel's face became clearer and clearer.
When he realized she was awake, Gabriel could no longer control himself.
He leaned down, cupped Jessica's cheeks with his hands, and excitedly planted kiss after kiss on her forehead. "Honey, you're finally awake."
It was only at this moment that Gabriel truly released his worries and fears.
Jessica moved her lips, about to speak, but found her throat was so dry she couldn't make a sound.
Gabriel immediately held her hand and spoke gently, "I know what you want to ask. Don't worry, the baby is fine and healthy."
"It's a girl, and she's very cute."
Hearing this, Jessica finally felt at ease.
Then, a faint smile slowly appeared on her pale face.
How wonderful, her daughter was healthy.
For a mother, this was the most beautiful thing to hear.
Gilbert and Freddy couldn't wait any longer and gathered around.
Seeing Jessica awake, they were overjoyed.
"Mommy, you're awake!"
"We missed you so much!"
Perhaps because they had been terrified of almost losing Jessica, Gilbert, and Freddy were not their usual lively selves; instead, they were quiet and well-behaved.
Gilbert and Freddy each held one of Jessica's hands, their clear eyes watching her closely as if she would disappear if they blinked.
"I'm sorry for making you worry."
Thinking back to the heart-wrenching cries of Gilbert and Freddy when she was unconscious, her heart broke.
"I love you all, so I will never leave you."
"Don't be afraid. I will always be with you."
Hearing Jessica's promise, Gilbert and Freddy couldn't hold back any longer and started crying.
"Mommy, you can't lie to us!"
Jessica weakly smiled and nodded, "Okay, I promise. Now stop crying; I love seeing you smile."
"Okay."
With a quick response, Gilbert and Freddy immediately wiped away their tears and then hugged Jessica's arms, showing bright smiles.
"Good kids!"
Jessica reached out and pinched their little cheeks, feeling very comforted.
"Jessica."
Suddenly, an old and unfamiliar voice came to her ears.
Jessica turned her head, her puzzled gaze falling on Alfonso.
Alfonso was very excited, his outstretched hand almost reaching to hold Jessica's.
But Alfonso held back with all his might.
Finally, he suppressed his excitement and slowly said, "I happened to be at the hospital for something and heard you had a baby, so I came to see you."
A slight smile appeared at the corner of Jessica's mouth, thanking him for his visit.
"Since you're okay, I won't disturb your rest."
With that, Alfonso got up and left the ward.
Gabriel followed and walked over when he saw him leaning against the wall. "Why didn't you reveal your identity? Jessica has been looking for you; she wants to see you."
Alfonso nodded. "I know, and I'm eager to reunite with her too, but she's just weak and needs rest. It's not good for her to get too excited. Let's wait a few days until she's discharged and her wounds don't hurt anymore."
Gabriel nodded. "Alright, I'll arrange it then."
"Thank you!" Alfonso said sincerely and gratefully.
"Dad." Gabriel was the first to call him that. "You don't need to thank me."
"Alright." Alfonso patted Gabriel's shoulder, feeling very comforted.
After going back in, Gabriel poured a cup of warm water, preparing to give it to Jessica to soothe her throat.
Jessica looked at him helplessly. She had just undergone a C-section, and now that the anesthesia had worn off, her wound was hurting badly.
Just as she was about to speak, Jonah walked over and looked at Gabriel, shaking his head. "Get a straw for Jessica. How is she supposed to drink like that?"
Gabriel finally realized, instantly patting his head in embarrassment. "I was so excited that I overlooked it."
Jonah said, "It's not that you forgot; it's just that you didn't take care of Gilbert and Freddy when they were born, so now you have to take on the responsibility of being a father and taking good care of your daughter."
Jessica, having finished drinking the water, couldn't help but tease, "Dad is so thoughtful and makes a lot of sense. It seems you took great care of Mom back then."
Proudly, Jonah said, "Of course."
Then he looked at Gabriel and continued, "When you were born, I took care of everything. In the postpartum recovery, I never let your mom change a single diaper, and when you cried at night, I was the one who comforted you."
He turned to Jessica. "So Jessica, your only task now is to eat well, drink well, and take care of yourself. Leave everything else to Gabriel."
Gabriel nodded vigorously. "It's my honor."
Finally having some strength, Jessica couldn't wait to ask, "Where's the baby? I want to see her."
"I'll go get her."
Gabriel immediately walked to the crib and carefully picked up the baby.
Seeing how he held the baby, Jessica couldn't help but laugh. "Relax a bit, don't be so stiff."
"She's so small and soft; I'm afraid of hurting her," Gabriel's words were both amusing and touching.
Jonah thoughtfully raised Jessica's bed. When she saw the baby in Gabriel's arms, she couldn't hold back her tears any longer.
"She's so beautiful!"
The baby was indeed beautiful, not at all like a newborn. Her skin wasn't wrinkled but rather pink and tender.
More importantly, the baby's delicate face and features hinted at a future beauty.
The baby's long eyelashes and big eyes were especially beautiful.
Since Jessica's ordeal, the baby had been sleeping with her eyes shut.
Now, she suddenly woke up and opened her eyes.
"Baby, I'm your mommy. Can you see me?" Jessica waved her hand happily.
Gabriel couldn't help but join in, "I'm your daddy!"
The room was filled with laughter and joy.
"Honey, have you named the baby yet?" Jessica suddenly asked.
Gabriel looked at her seriously and said, "You went through so much to bring her into this world. The honor of naming her is yours."
Jessica thought for a moment and slowly said a name, "Stella. Let's call her Stella Walton."
Gabriel nodded happily. "Stella is so beautiful. Promise me, when you grow up, you won't be easily taken away by any man."
After the day's excitement, everything quieted down at night.
Jessica asked a question she had been afraid to ask, "Honey, where's Tina? Is she okay?"
