Chapter 822 Comforting Each Other
Kenneth looked at her, "I'm not lying to you. I stand by what I said, so I hope you'll seriously consider it."
"Why?"
Grace knew very well that someone as shrewd as Kenneth wouldn't marry her without a reason.
They hadn't known each other for long, and it certainly wasn't because of love.
So, there had to be a reason.
"I don't mind telling you. I mentioned before that you and Mark aren't suitable for each other, so I never supported your relationship from the start, and I still don't."
"There's also a personal reason. I've been single and without a girlfriend for years, and the issue of marriage has caused me quite a bit of trouble. Marrying you would save me a lot of hassle, and Mark would give up on you completely."
Kenneth's reasons were indeed very compelling.
But how could two people with no emotional foundation get married?
To Grace, this was simply absurd.
That was why she was so shocked.
"Mr. Powell, I don't think we're suitable for each other."
Kenneth smiled slightly and didn't push, "Alright, it was just a suggestion. I expected you might refuse."
"But keep it in mind, I think you might find it useful someday."
After returning, Grace talked to Mark as usual.
Even though he couldn't hear her, she sat by his side, talking to him very seriously and patiently.
Grace and Mark were like old friends who hadn't seen each other in a long time.
"Mark, Kenneth has helped find out the cause of the accident. It wasn't an accident at all; Caroline hired someone to cause it."
"Don't worry, now that I know the truth, I won't let her get away with it. No matter the cost, I'll make sure she ends up in jail."
"So you have to hang in there and wake up soon. I hope you'll be with me to witness the day Caroline is brought to justice."
Even though Mark showed no reaction, Grace didn't feel discouraged at all.
"By the way, Mark, I have to tell you something. I've noticed that Kenneth is actually quite good to you."
"He always puts you first and considers your feelings. Maybe he's just not good with words. I don't know how you two got along before, but when you wake up, I hope you can talk things out calmly. After all, you are brothers."
"If you can clear up the misunderstandings between you and Kenneth, I believe you can reconcile."
At that moment, a servant came in.
Seeing Grace, he spoke up, "Ms. Morgan, I'm here to clean Mr. Stoll."
Grace thought he meant a full body wash and immediately nodded, "Alright, I'll step out for a bit."
"No need, Ms. Morgan, I'm just going to clean his hands and face."
Grace looked at the basin and towel in his hands, "Let me do it."
"Ms. Morgan, how can I let you do that?"
"It's fine, we're friends. Mark wouldn't mind if he knew."
Grace was very careful and gentle as she cleaned him.
While washing his face, she suddenly thought of something, "By the way, can you tell me how you usually clean and care for him?"
"Generally, we use warm water to wipe him down, then dry him with a towel, and massage him to prevent muscle atrophy from lying down too long."
"That's very thoughtful, but I have a small suggestion. You can mention it to Mr. Powell. Mark is a celebrity, and people in our industry care a lot about their appearance. As far as I know, Mark cares about it too."
"So, besides the daily face washing, I suggest you also do regular skincare to maintain his skin condition."
The servant nodded quickly, "Yes, Ms. Morgan, that's very considerate. I'll prepare for that right away."
Before he finished speaking, he respectfully called out to the door, "Mr. Powell!"
"Alright, you can go now."
Grace was surprised to see Kenneth at the door.
"Even though we didn't become a couple, you do care about Mark."
"And thank you for speaking up for me!" Kenneth's eyes deepened.
"I was just telling the truth. You care about Mark. Having a brother who cares so much is something I've always dreamed of."
Kenneth raised an eyebrow. "Why do you say that?"
"When I first started school, I was timid, so I was often bullied. There was a little girl who was bullied just like me."
"One day, her brother came to school holding her hand, warned all the bullies, and even threatened them. After that, no one dared to bully her again. I've always envied her for having a brother like a hero."
Kenneth looked sincere, "When Mark wakes up, I hope you will tell him this story. I would be very grateful."
"Sure, but there's another reason too."
Kenneth's tone was intrigued, "I'm all ears."
"My parents have always favored boys and resented me for being a girl. So I often wondered if I had a brother, if they had a son, would they hate me less?"
Kenneth shook his head, "On the contrary, if your parents favored boys, it's probably better that you're an only child."
"Why do you say that?"
"Think about it. If you had a brother, he might drain you like a vampire. All your earnings and savings might go towards helping him get married, buy a car, and a house."
"That kind of life would be even more terrifying. At least now you've escaped such parents, so it's a kind of luck, isn't it?"
Kenneth's perspective gave Grace a new way of thinking.
Suddenly, she felt less bothered by it.
"Thank you, Mr. Powell!"
"Let's call it even. You don't need to thank me, and I don't need to thank you."
"Alright."
Grace was backstage putting on makeup for an upcoming show.
She didn't expect someone to be so brazen, barging into the backstage area.
Several tall men, with cigarettes in their mouths, walked in arrogantly.
Without saying a word, they started searching the place roughly and aggressively.
"Where did all these men come from?"
"Who are they? How did they get in? Security! Security!"
Some actresses were changing clothes, screaming, and running to their dressing rooms with their clothes in hand.
The makeup room was instantly in chaos, filled with shouts and screams.
Grace had just changed and was about to do her makeup. She didn't expect this situation either.
Fortunately, Linda reacted quickly and immediately called the police.
However, just as Linda's call connected and before she could speak, one of the tall, thin men rushed over to Grace, grabbed her, and shouted, "Sir, I found her! She's here!"
