Chapter 528 Jessica Reveals the Truth
Francis held her hand tightly, unwilling to let go.
"Don't move, let me see."
His voice was low, with a somewhat stern tone.
Jessica licked her lips and immediately stayed still, letting him check the wound without moving.
After examining it, Francis asked, "Do you have any medicine at home?"
"I am not sure."
"Falling and burns, these are common household medicines. As a pregnant woman, shouldn't you have some on hand?"
Francis couldn't quite understand why, but as he spoke, a mix of anger and worry washed over him.
"Why are you being so harsh?" Jessica pouted.
Francis's tone immediately softened, "I'm not being harsh with you, I'm just worried about you. You should have some basic medicines ready, otherwise, what will you do if you get hurt?"
"Didn't you indicate that you wished to maintain a certain distance from me? Why are you worried about me?"
"I..."
For the first time, Francis was at a loss for words, completely unsure how to respond.
After a pause, he stood up, "Wait here, I'll go buy some medicine for you."
"It's so late, there probably aren't any pharmacies open."
"I'll check. I remember there's a 24-hour pharmacy." Francis said.
At that moment, Jessica remembered that Louie had given her some medicine last time.
"I remember now, there might be some medicine in the second drawer."
As soon as she finished speaking, Francis had already walked over.
However, there was no medicine in the second drawer.
Francis opened several drawers and found the medicine in the third one.
"Hold out your hand." He said, holding the medicine, as he walked over to Jessica.
While applying the medicine, he lowered his head, his expression very serious.
Under the light, the familiar contours of his profile were as clear and handsome as ever, and many memories flooded her mind like a movie.
"Gabriel."
Jessica looked at him and couldn't help but speak.
Hearing this name, Francis's hand applying the medicine paused noticeably.
But soon, his expression returned to normal.
It seemed she had mistaken him for that man named "Gabriel" again.
For some reason, he experienced a sudden pang of sorrow in his heart.
Jessica was completely immersed in Francis's familiar face, not noticing his unusual behavior at all.
"In the past, you used to apply medicine to me like this, very gently and carefully, afraid of hurting me."
"When I sprained my ankle, you would massage it and carry me home."
"Gabriel, have you forgotten all of this?"
Jessica murmured emotionally.
At that moment, her heart and eyes were full of him.
"Alright, it's done," Francis spoke.
He stood up, and just as he was about to leave, Jessica suddenly grabbed him and unconsciously called out, "Honey."
Upon hearing this term, Francis's posture immediately straightened, his entire body becoming rigid as he was rendered nearly speechless.
After a while, he finally raised his head, his deep eyes looking at Jessica, "What did you just call me?"
"You heard it, didn't you?" Jessica replied.
Francis suddenly pulled her hand away, his voice turning cold, "Ms. Morgan, I'm not your husband. I think I've made that very clear."
"But you are!"
"I'm not." Francis's sharp gaze pierced through her, "Or are you saying, Ms. Morgan, that you call any man you see 'husband'? If I'm not mistaken, your baby is due soon, right?"
Jessica looked at him, her whole body trembling.
She wasn't stupid; she understood the implication of his words.
But how could he think that of her?
"What do you mean?" Jessica looked at him angrily, "Are you saying that I mess around with men, deliberately mistaking them, just to find a father for my baby?"
"Francis, how could you think that of me?"
Though Jessica wished to hold back her tears, her eyes betrayed her, filling with emotion.
"Do you know? Everyone else can think that of me, but not you."
Francis regretted his words as soon as he said them.
He didn't know what was wrong with him. When he suddenly heard her call him "Honey," he couldn't help but wonder if she had called other men like that too.
Just thinking about it made him uncontrollably jealous.
He was too out of control.
He wasn't acting like his normal self at all.
He felt very anxious.
When he thought of Celia, he felt even more guilty.
Celia was a college student on the island, with excellent character and appearance. He always knew that many men on the island secretly or openly liked Celia.
Some men had even expressed their love for her.
But strangely, he never felt any jealousy.
Yet with Jessica, he felt he couldn't control himself.
That's why he said such hurtful things.
"I'm sorry, I take back what I said. I didn't mean it that way."
And when he saw her eyes redden, he immediately softened.
"Then what did you mean?" Jessica felt extremely hurt.
"I just..."
Forget it; some explanations were better left unsaid, as they only complicated things further.
But Francis never expected what happened next.
Suddenly, he felt a small impact, and before he realized it, Jessica had run over and hugged him.
Her slender arms wrapped around his waist, holding him tightly.
She was tiny, yet she hit him right in the heart.
Francis was completely stunned, his whole body tense, and he didn't react for a long time.
Jessica's voice sounded in his ear, "Francis, are you jealous?"
In an instant, his mind went blank.
He even forgot to push her away.
"Why don't you answer me?" Jessica pressed.
This time, Francis finally snapped out of it.
"Ms. Morgan, please let go of me. You should know, that I have a fiancée. We shouldn't be like this."
However, hearing his words, Jessica not only didn't let go but hugged him even tighter.
She looked up, her clear eyes gazing at him.
Her voice was filled with determination, "Then what should we be like?"
"Francis, if I told you I liked you, would you believe me?"
Francis felt like his mind couldn't wrap around it.
Did she like him?
They had only met a few times, how could this be possible?
Francis pulled her hands away, trying to respond calmly, "Ms. Morgan, stop joking. Didn't you say you have a husband and kids?"
"Yes, but my husband is you, the father of my kids is you, the person I like is all you. Francis, I've said it many times, you are Gabriel, my husband."
"Why don't you believe me?"
