Chapter 184 Jessica is Flattered

Sure enough, as soon as the name came up, they both went quiet.

Gabriel frowned. "Why are you bringing up Diana?"

"Diana's your first love, the one you care about most. Every time she shows up, you change. You even want to divorce me because of her. How am I supposed to stay calm?"

"So, you're worried I'll change my mind?" Gabriel's mood lightened a bit.

Jessica nodded slightly. "Yes!"

He wasn't mad anymore.

But now, it was her turn to be upset.

He knew how anxious she was, yet he acted so casual.

The next moment, Gabriel pulled Jessica into his arms.

He gently stroked her hair, his gaze soft. "Silly girl, she's gone abroad and won't be back. She won't affect us."

"What if Diana comes back?" Jessica's eyes filled with worry. "Will you push me away and choose her?"

"Don't be silly. Even if she came back, it wouldn't change anything. Jessica, you just need to know that you are the one I love noe, and that's enough."

Jessica didn't know whether to believe him or not.

She used to think their biggest problem was a lack of feelings. Now she realized that even with feelings, there were still many obstacles.

She wasn't sure if they were doing the right thing.

Jessica was confused.

"Who's Dr. Smith that girl mentioned earlier? Do you like him?" Gabriel suddenly asked.

Jessica shook her head quickly. "No, it's a misunderstanding."

"Hmm?" Gabriel looked skeptical.

"It's true. it's a misunderstanding. Dr. Smith is handsome and single. I ran into him a few times by chance, and my colleagues thought I did it on purpose. So, they spread rumors that I liked him and that those coincidences were to get his attention. But it was really just a mistake."

Jessica told the truth.

"A mistake?" Gabriel's eyes darkened a bit.

"Yes. There was a moment when I found myself staring at him because he reminded me of you, leading my colleagues to misunderstand, so my colleagues misunderstood."

Gabriel raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue.

Jessica went on, "It was that day in the private room, the lighting was dim, and he was standing there drinking with others. When I looked at him, it felt like he was you. He gave off a similar vibe, so I looked a few more times. I didn't expect the rumors to spread."

"Is Dr. Smith named Jack?" Gabriel asked.

Jessica nodded, a bit surprised. "You know him?"

"No," Gabriel denied immediately, then added, "But I've heard of him. Jessica, remember what I said, stay away from him and his family."

"Okay," Jessica nodded.

Jack was the director, and she was just an intern who hadn't even had the chance to hold a scalpel. She probably wouldn't have much interaction with Jack.

So, getting close was out of the question.

Unexpectedly, Gabriel took it very seriously and emphasized again, "Jessica, did you hear me? Stay away from him and his family, and don't accept anything from them."

"Got it?" Gabriel raised his voice.

Jessica nodded. "Okay, I got it."

In the evening, just before getting off work, a colleague came to Jessica, saying a wealthy lady was looking for her.

Jessica was puzzled; she didn't know any rich people.

If she had to name one, it would be Giselle, but Giselle's style was always simple and elegant, not flashy like a wealthy lady.

It wasn't until she saw Patricia and smelled her perfume that Jessica realized.

Sure enough, it was a wealthy lady.

And it turned out to be Jack's mother.

"Mrs. Smith, hello. I heard you were looking for me. Are you sure you have the right person?" Jessica was very surprised.

To her surprise, Patricia nodded. "I'm sure, I'm looking for you. How are you adjusting to the hospital? Is it hard? If you encounter any difficulties, just tell Jack. He'll help you out."

Patricia's words left Jessica feeling a bit overwhelmed.

But the thing was, she didn't know Patricia at all.

It couldn't be because of Jack, because she barely knew him, let alone had any friendship with him.

Seeing Jessica's confusion, Patricia smiled and gently explained.

"Don't be shy. Edward told me that Jack saved you a few days ago, and you spent the night at his house. Jack is great in every way, but he doesn't like to date."

"When I heard he brought you home, I was really happy and excited, so..."

Patricia pushed a gift box towards Jessica. "This is a small token of my appreciation. Keep it. When you two are officially together, I'll give you more."

Now, Jessica was even more confused, completely stunned.

What was going on? She didn't understand a word.

"Mrs. Smith, please, calm down. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake? When did Dr. Smith take me home?"

Patricia thought for a moment. "It was that day at the new employee gathering. You got drunk, and Jack helped you into the car and took you home."

The more Patricia spoke, the more confused Jessica became. She was completely at a loss.

She felt like she couldn't understand anything anymore.

Wasn't it Gabriel who took her home that day? When did it become Jack?

"I don't know the details, but Edward told me my son helped you into the car and took you home."

Jessica was silent.

That day, when Jack helped Jessica into the car, the driver took the wrong route and ended up taking Jessica to Jack's house.

Edward saw it and assumed so, then reported it to Patricia.

Little did they know, Jack immediately had the driver turn around and took Jessica back to her own home.

Thus, a big misunderstanding was created.

Jessica was utterly befuddled, lost in a haze of uncertainty.

Patricia insisted Jack liked her and that was why he brought her home, so she gave her several valuable pieces of jewelry.

Jessica certainly didn't accept, but Patricia was very insistent and refused to take them back once she had given them.

By the end of the conversation, Patricia pushed the jewelry towards her and left directly.

Jessica looked at the table full of jewelry, feeling very troubled.

After all, they were valuable, and she didn't dare to just leave them unattended.

Jessica sighed and could only take the jewelry back to her department.

On the way, Jessica kept pondering and finally came up with a solution.

Just as it was time to get off work, Jessica changed her clothes, took the beautifully decorated jewelry box into the elevator, and went straight to Jack's office.
