Chapter 503 Go to Plead with Jack
Carolyn lay on the hospital bed. Although she had just undergone surgery, she was already able to breathe freely and was recovering well.
Gasping for breath, Carolyn laughed heartily while clutching her chest, "Jonah, don't be naive."
"Without my testimony, Jessica is the murderer. I will make sure she goes to prison."
"Your only choice is to agree to my terms and release my Patricia. Otherwise, I will never change my statement."
Jonah was so enraged by the sight of the detestable Carolyn that his chest heaved violently.
But soon, he calmed down.
At this moment, the more furious he became, the more he would fall into the trap.
So, he had to stay calm.
"Carolyn, I will solemnly and seriously repeat one last time: I will never let Patricia go. Don't even think about it."
With that, Jonah slammed the door and stormed out.
Seeing Jonah leave, Tina and Vincent approached.
Jonah rubbed his temples and recounted Carolyn's unreasonable demands.
"Just as we thought, since that's the case, there's no way to find a breakthrough with Carolyn. We must find evidence to prove Jessica's innocence."
"Do you have any good ideas?" Jonah asked Vincent.
"Mr. Walton, I will do everything I can to gather the evidence. However, you might have another option."
Hearing this, Jonah immediately felt a glimmer of hope and quickly asked, "What option?"
Vincent looked at Tina, "Tina, could you get a bottle of water for Mr. Walton and me?"
Tina knew they had something to discuss, so she readily agreed, "Sure, just a moment."
After she left, Vincent gestured to the nearby bench, "Mr. Walton, please have a seat."
"Alright, Vincent, just say what you need to. Don't hold back. As long as it helps get Jessica out sooner, I'm willing to try anything."
"Okay, I'll be straightforward."
Vincent began, "Mr. Walton, I know Jack is also your child. Patricia has been in trouble for two days now. If I'm not mistaken, Jack would have rushed here as soon as he heard the news."
"I checked the latest flight. Considering all the layovers, Jack should be arriving at the airport soon."
"Patricia has always harbored hatred and hostility towards you and the Walton family, so she definitely won't plead for Jessica. But Jack is different. If you ask Jack, he might find a way to persuade Carolyn."
Jonah quickly dismissed the idea, shaking his head firmly, "No, that's impossible. Jack has always hated me. He would never agree to help me."
"Mr. Walton, I understand your thoughts, but for Jessica's sake, why not give it a try? Jack has indeed made some mistakes, but from my previous interactions with him, I always felt that what he truly wanted wasn't the Walton family's wealth."
"As a child, perhaps what he wanted was simple—a word of concern, a hug from his father. Mr. Walton, give it a try."
After pondering for a long time, Jonah patted Vincent on the shoulder.
"You're right. For Jessica, for the baby she's carrying, even if there's just a slim chance, I have to give it a shot."
"Now that Gabriel isn't back, as Gabriel's father, I must protect Gabriel's wife and child."
Watching Jonah leave, Vincent was filled with worry.
Vincent was also taking a gamble.
Gambling on Jack's lingering hope and expectations for his father, Jonah.
Gambling on Jack's compassion and sympathy for Jessica, a pregnant woman.
Once in the car, Jonah instructed, "To the airport!"
"Okay, Mr. Walton."
At the airport, after waiting for a while, Jonah soon spotted Jack.
Days of toil had stripped Jack of his usual vigor and elegance, making him look particularly old and weary.
Jonah approached and called Jack.
Hearing his name and that somewhat familiar voice, Jack seemed momentarily stunned.
Jack turned around and immediately saw Jonah.
At that moment, Jack's eyes were filled with immense shock and surprise.
But soon, Jack's expression turned indifferent, "What are you doing here?"
"Jack, get in the car. It's been a while. I have some things to talk to you."
Jack acted as if he hadn't heard, bypassing Jonah and walking forward.
"Jack," Jonah called after him.
"Don't waste your breath. We're just strangers. There's nothing to talk about," Jack replied coldly, as always.
"What if it's about your mother?"
Hearing this, Jack immediately stopped.
Jonah offered, "My car is outside. Come sit with me."
Jack's expression remained stern, but he didn't refuse.
Once in the car, Jack got straight to the point, "Tell me, what do you want in exchange for releasing my mom? Don't give me any grandiose talk. I want the final result."
Jonah found himself in a difficult position.
He frowned, remaining silent for a long time.
Jack let out a scornful snort and shot him a cold stare., "You never cease to amaze me. It seems you have no intention of letting my mom go."
"Jonah, how can you be so heartless? My mom was your lover. She had your child and sacrificed her entire youth, her whole life for you."
"Now that she is in trouble, how can you be so indifferent? Do you have a conscience? Danielle is your wife, but hasn't my mom served you too? I've never had any expectations of you, but can you at least be a bit fair to my mom and me?"
Jack shouted almost hysterically.
After yelling, Jack opened the car door and slammed it shut as he got out.
"If you never intended to release my mom, then we have nothing to talk about."
Jack grabbed his suitcase and strode forward.
Jonah immediately chased after him, "Jack, wait."
"All these years, haven't you always wanted to know what happened between your mom and me? Want to know why I don't like you? Fine, I can tell you everything today."
Jack paused, his tall figure going rigid.
Seeing this, Jonah quickly caught up.
Those distant memories gradually resurfaced.
"After I married Danielle, we were very much in love. Later, due to some reasons, a rift developed between us. At that time, your mom used some tricks to get into my bed."
"To me, it was just an accident. I don't even remember if I touched her. But later, she came back, claiming she was pregnant and had already given birth."
"After that, my relationship with Danielle remained strained. I always blamed your mom, feeling she had ruined my relationship with Danielle. Your appearance only deepened the rift between Danielle and me, making it irreparable."
"So, naturally, I had no good feelings towards you and your mom. I even felt you both had destroyed my life, ruined everything."
