Chapter 91 Going to Pick Up Jessica in the Storm

She always felt like she heard Gabriel's voice last night.
However, it appeared as though as no one had slept in the bed next to her.
She reached out and touched the sheets, which were cold and untouched.
It seemed like she had a hallucination.
When she went downstairs, Gabriel had already gone to work. Gabriel had already prepared a hearty breakfast at the table.
When they first got married, Gabriel hired several nannies. However, Gabriel replaced them all with hourly workers due to she dislikes of strangers in the house. They would come regularly to clean the house and cook. If not necessary, they would leave after finishing their tasks.
But today, Avery, one of the hourly workers, didn't leave right away.
While having breakfast, Avery seemed to be doing something in the kitchen, and a rich aroma wafted out.
At this moment, Avery came out "Mrs. Walton, you should eat more. You are too thin."
"Mr. Walton specifically instructed me to make every meal more abundant in the future, especially to cook some nutritious soup for you and look after you well."
"Has he personally instructed?" Jessica was somewhat surprised.
Avery nodded repeatedly. "Yes, Mr. Walton also gave me a raise, saying that no matter what you request, I must serve you well."
"Okay." Jessica nodded.
Then, under Avery's earnest persuasion, she drank a bowl of soup.
After breakfast, Jessica was a bit bored. Just as she picked up a book, she received a call from the hospital.
They informed her that she had passed the interview and could report to the hospital next Monday.
Upon hanging up the phone, Jessica was overjoyed.
She opened Facebook. Before she realized it, she typed a message "I passed the hospital interview, so happy."
However, when she saw the name "Gabriel" on Facebook, she instantly deleted all the words.
Then she put down her phone. Perhaps it was just a deep-rooted habit.
So, in her excitement, upon hearing the news, she immediately thought of sharing it with him.
It appeared that she would need to break this habit in the future.
After changing her clothes, Jessica went to Giselle's grave.
She hadn't visited Giselle for a while. Today, upon hearing the good news, she couldn't wait to share it with her.
If Giselle knew, she would surely be happy for her.
As she got out of the car, she received a call from Gabriel.
Putting the phone to her ear, Jessica remained unusually silent.
Gabriel was the first to speak "I heard the hospital accept you. Congratulations!"
"Thank you!"
Jessica politely replied. They seemed somewhat distant.
It was as if an invisible web had suddenly separated them.
In the past, she would always cut through the web in front of her, tear it apart, and then cross over.
But this time, she was tired too.
She no longer had the courage to cut through the barrier and cross over.
"When do you start work?"
"Next Monday."
After Jessica finished speaking, she added, "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."
"Wait, I have something!" Gabriel spoke hurriedly.
"At noon, I need to go home to get a file and have lunch with you."
"I see." Jessica replied indifferently, then said, "You can have Oscar come to pick it up."
"The stuff is in our bedroom, so it is inconvenient for him to come in."
"It's okay. I don't mind."
After Jessica spoke, Gabriel's hand holding the phone tightened immediately.
There was something tumultuous in his heart.
"I do mind." Gabriel's voice was noticeably lower, almost gritting his teeth.
"Okay."
Jessica's tone remained calm. She glanced at the time, then said, "If that's the case, I'll go back earlier. You tell me the specific location, and I'll give it to Oscar."
Gabriel furrowed his brow. "You're not home? You're out?"
"Yes, I came to the cemetery to see Giselle. It's been a while since I last saw her."
"Don't worry, I'll be back home before noon."
After saying that, without waiting for Gabriel's response, Jessica hung up the phone.
As he listened to the beep after hanging up, Gabriel's eyes were turbulent and deep.
At that moment, a weather alert popped up on his phone.
Oscar also came in to report "Mr. Walton, there might be a storm coming soon. Do we need to adjust our schedule?"
Gabriel nodded. "We need to adjust it. Go change the time."
"And also, get me a larger umbrella."
Although the car could drive up to the outside of the cemetery, it definitely couldn't go inside.
Moreover, Giselle's tombstone was a little far from the cemetery gate. If it really rained heavily, an umbrella would be essential.
After going out for a moment, Oscar came back in and immediately handed the umbrella to Gabriel.
Holding the umbrella, Gabriel went straight to the elevator and instructed, "Cancel all the afternoon appointments."
"Mr. Walton, are you going out?" Oscar finally realized this.
"Yes, I'll go by myself. You don't need to drive."
"But it's going to rain heavily soon, and it's very unsafe to drive. Mr. Walton, should you wait until the rain stops before going out?"
"I have to go now. It'll be too late if I wait for the rain to stop."
After Gabriel finished speaking, he took the elevator directly to the underground garage.
At the cemetery, Jessica brought a bouquet of chrysanthemums and gently placed it in front of Giselle's tombstone, then sat down in front of it.
"Giselle, I've come to see you. I'm sorry, it's been a bit long since my last visit."
"Do you know? A lot has happened recently. I'm pregnant. When I found out, I was very happy. But that's when Gabriel asked for a divorce, and he didn't look forward to the arrival of this child."
"And there's the matter of Grandpa's passing. I've been too afraid to find the courage to tell you."
"Giselle, I dreamt of you last night. These days, I've been thinking. If you were still here, I wouldn't be afraid of the divorce, because even if we divorced, I would still have a home, someone to love me, care for me, hug me, and give me strength."
As she spoke, she couldn't help but become melancholic.
Jessica wiped her eyes, immediately changed her mood, and smiled. "Giselle, actually, I came today to tell you some good news. The hospital accepted me, even though I'm still in the internship period."
"But don't worry, I'll work hard and hopefully secure an official job after graduation."
Shortly after her words, a loud thunder abruptly disrupted the bright sky.
At first, Jessica didn't pay much attention to it.
However, there were more intense thunderstorms.
Jessica checked her phone and realized there were already several severe storm warnings.
It seemed that a storm was indeed coming, and she needed to head back immediately.
But this place was quite remote. She thought any cars would be reluctant to come if there was a storm.
As Jessica walked down, she felt a bit anxious.
At that moment, a familiar, gentle voice sounded behind her "Jessica?"
