Chapter 120 Gabriel, Let's Divorce

Upon hearing the door open, Jessica immediately ceased her sobbing. She lifted her head and hastily wiped the tears from her face with her hand.

But she forgot that her hand was stained with blood from the knife wound, and with that wipe, her face was instantly smeared with blood.

Streaks of blood, conspicuous and clear, made her look quite frightening from a distance.

Gabriel was startled when he saw the blood on Jessica's face. He quickly ran over, cupped her face in his hands, and asked anxiously, "Jessica, why is there so much blood on your face?"

"I'm fine," Jessica said, coldly pushing him away with her hand.

Gabriel asked again, "So much blood, and you say you're fine?"

Jessica replied coldly, "It's not my blood."

Gabriel was very persistent. He bent down and carried Jessica to the bed, then dampened a towel and carefully wiped the blood from her face with it.

Only after confirming that there were no wounds on her face did he breathe a sigh of relief.

As he lowered his head, he noticed blood seeping from her foot, dripping onto the floor like tiny droplets.

Gabriel's heart skipped a beat. He immediately lifted her foot. Upon discovering several shards of glass embedded in it, his heart tightened. His brows furrowed deeply. "How did you get hurt so badly?"

He gently lifted Jessica's feet.

At that moment, blood was still dripping from her soles.

"I don't need you to do this for me," Jessica said, looking at him with eyes as cold as ice, devoid of any warmth.

"Sit still, don't move." After saying this, Gabriel got up to fetch the first aid kit.

Donning sterile gloves, he held Jessica's foot with one hand and used tweezers to extract the glass shards from her sole with the other.

The larger shards were easier to remove, as the tweezers could grasp them right away. However, the smaller, finer ones were not only hard to find but also deeply embedded in the flesh.

It hurt a lot.

But Jessica felt that this pain was nothing compared to the pain she had endured in the car accident.

She gritted her teeth, staring out the window, determined not to cry out.

The more she did this, the more Gabriel's heart ached.

He looked up, his gentle gaze falling on Jessica. "If it hurts, cry out. It might make you feel a bit better."

Jessica shook her head. "If crying out would stop the pain, I would definitely cry out. But what's the point? The pain remains the same. Since it doesn't reduce the suffering, there's no need to scream."

She no longer wanted to do anything futile.

"The last shard is a bit deep, bear with it," Gabriel comforted softly.

Jessica listened quietly, not responding to him at all.

When the pain came, she gripped the bedsheet tightly, furrowing her brows and biting her lip.

She forced herself not to make a sound.

By the time the last shard was removed, her forehead was covered in sweat, and her upper clothes were soaked from the pain and her effort to endure it.

After removing the glass shards, Gabriel knelt beside her, applying medicine to her foot and then bandaging it.

Looking at the thick bandages on her foot, Jessica was momentarily lost in thought, but she quickly averted her gaze. "Thank you."

She was very clear about right and wrong.

Since he had bandaged her wound, she was supposed to show her gratitude.

Moreover, from now on, she and he should be polite and clear-cut, never like before.

After Jessica lay down on the bed, Gabriel sat beside her, taking care of her.

"Are you thirsty? Do you want some water?" he asked.

Jessica shook her head.

"Are you hungry? Is there anything you want to eat? I'll have someone prepare it," he asked again.

Jessica still shook her head.

The room was extremely quiet, so quiet that even the sound of a pin dropping could be heard clearly.

Just when Gabriel thought Jessica would remain silent and not speak, she suddenly spoke, "Gabriel?"

Hearing her voice, Gabriel was a bit excited. "Are you hungry?"

Jessica shook her head again, then said calmly, "We need to talk."

Gabriel nodded. "Alright, go ahead."

Jessica said, "Let's get a divorce."

An incredibly difficult and heavy sentence, finally came out of Jessica's mouth at this moment.

She thought it would be very, very hard.
However, when the words echoed in the room, Jessica suddenly realized it wasn't as difficult as she had imagined.

After all, it's just a sentence made up of a few words, isn't it?

Having finally said it, she felt a sense of relief.

The room, however, fell into a deathly silence the moment Jessica uttered those words.

Yes, a silence that was terrifying.

"Gabriel, I said, let's get a divorce." Jessica looked at him, her voice firm as she repeated it.

This time, Gabriel finally lifted his head, his dark eyes deeply gazing at her. "Jessica, I heard you. But I don't agree."

These words completely shattered the last bit of hope in Jessica's heart.

He didn't agree?

What right did he have to disagree?

Wasn't this the day he had been anticipating and calculating since the moment they got married?

Now that everything had come true, shouldn't he be clapping his hands in celebration?

"I can't think of any reason for you to disagree," Jessica said.

"Jessica, I'll repeat it again, I absolutely do not agree to the divorce." Gabriel's voice, clear and strong, reached Jessica's ears.

"Why?" she asked.

Gabriel did not answer.

In the days that followed, while Jessica was recovering in the hospital, Gabriel stayed by her side.

Though they were in the same room, they were almost like strangers.

Jessica rejected everything Gabriel offered.

She refused to drink the water he had poured, or eat the meals he had prepared;
She wouldn't even touch the fruits he had bought, avoiding any unnecessary talk with him.

When she had nothing to do, Jessica would lie on the hospital bed, staring out the window in boredom. Sometimes tears would just flow down her face.

The baby was gone, and it felt like her heart had died with it.

No one knew how happy she was when she found out she was pregnant. The baby had felt her heartbeat, and she had even imagined the baby's appearance over and over in her mind, all those beautiful moments she had envisioned.

When Diana provoked her, she didn't despair.

When Gabriel didn't love her, she didn't despair either.

Because she had the baby's support, the baby was her hope and strength. She was so looking forward to its arrival.

But now, her support was gone; everything she had hoped for was gone.

Five days later, it was time for Jessica to be discharged from the hospital.

Although she had stayed in the hospital for a few days, she could not be recovered from a miscarriage and a car accident in just five short days .

Jessica was to be discharged at eight in the morning. Gabriel had specially gone to the flower shop to buy a bouquet of roses before heading to the hospital to pick her up.

However, when he arrived at the hospital, he found the room already empty, with nothing left inside.

"Jessica," he shouted.
