Chapter 112 Jessica's Accident
"Sorry, Jessica, I can't leave her alone." After saying this, Gabriel stood up and left.
Jessica watched his back, smiling wistfully.
Yes, he couldn't leave Diana alone, so he could leave her alone.
At this moment, his heart was filled only with Diana. He might have long forgotten how heavy the rain was today and how scared she was.
After Gabriel left, Jessica stood up.
From the second floor, she could clearly see Gabriel's figure.
He didn't use an umbrella or a car; he just rushed into the rain.
He was soaked to the skin, yet that cold, peerless, and extraordinary figure still stood straight in the wind and rain.
She thought about how they would become strangers in the future, their lives never intersecting again. Suddenly, Jessica didn't know where the courage came from; she stood up, disregarding everything, and ran down frantically.
"Gabriel!" She shouted loudly, her voice piercing through the heavy rain to reach his ears.
Although her voice was almost drowned out by the rain, Gabriel still heard it.
He quickly turned around, and when he saw Jessica coming down and standing at the door with rain splashing on her, he rushed over without a second thought.
"Why did you come down?" he asked with a stern expression. "The rain is heavy outside, and it's very cold. You're not dressed warmly enough; how can you stand it? Go back quickly."
Jessica didn't speak, just looked at him quietly.
Gabriel said, "Go upstairs. I've left the car and umbrella. I've already called Oscar; he'll come to pick you up soon."
Jessica asked, "And you? Are you going alone?"
How much did he love Diana to be so reckless?
Gabriel voiced, "Don't worry about me; I have my ways."
At this moment, Oscar arrived in the car. He got out and rushed over.
"Take Mrs. Morgan home and take good care of her." After instructing Oscar, Gabriel turned and quickly disappeared into the rain.
"Mrs. Morgan, I'll take you home," Oscar said respectfully, holding a large umbrella.
Jessica looked up at his umbrella and suddenly said, "Give the umbrella to Gabriel."
"This umbrella is very good at shielding from the wind and rain. Mr. Walton said it was for you, Mrs. Morgan."
Jessica smiled, but her eyes were cold. "Give it to him. I don't need it anymore."
She didn't even want him anymore, as well as his umbrella.
"Mrs. Morgan." Oscar felt a bit troubled.
"Then I'll go myself." Jessica made a move to take the umbrella. Oscar immediately agreed, "Mrs. Morgan, please wait. I'll go right away."
"Nonsense," Gabriel said, who was very angry when he heard that Jessica insisted on giving him the umbrella.
"Mr. Walton, I think Mrs. Morgan is very determined. She must be worried about you. You should take it, even if just for show," Oscar advised earnestly.
Gabriel didn't take it, gritting his teeth. "I don't take back what I've given away. If she doesn't care for it, then throw it away!"
With that, he threw the umbrella to the ground.
Although the night was dark and the rain was heavy, Jessica could still clearly see the umbrella being thrown to the ground through the rain.
At first, the umbrella flipped a few times in the strong wind. But soon, the umbrella was completely soaked, filling with more and more water, becoming heavier and heavier.
The umbrella could no longer fly.
Jessica's heart ached as if it were being torn apart.
She felt she was just like that umbrella.
In the summer, she didn't fear the heat, yearning only to bring him a sliver of respite; in the winter, she didn't fear the cold, desiring only to offer him warmth.
She offered her heart, pure and unblemished, to him.
But he didn't want the umbrella.
He could discard it so easily.
She thought, 'Jessica, give up! He doesn't love you, and he never will. Haven't you realized that by now?'
Yes, she should give up.
She should have given up long ago.
The rain poured down, heavier and heavier. Gabriel's figure disappeared into the car, and then the black car quickly vanished into the rain.
The car drove farther and farther until she could no longer see it.
At this moment, Oscar walked over. Just as he was about to speak, Jessica interrupted. "You don't need to take me home. Go be with him."
Oscar hesitated. "Mrs. Morgan, this is Mr. Walton's order."
Jessica asked, "Do you know why he went out alone?"
Oscar shook his head.
"Diana was kidnapped. He's going to rescue her. You can imagine how dangerous the kidnappers are and how perilous this trip is. Are you sure you don't want to support him?" After Jessica finished speaking, Oscar was shocked. "Mrs. Morgan, is what you said true?"
Jessica replied, "Of course, otherwise, what else could make him so anxious, willing to risk everything to get there?"
Oscar said, "Alright, Mrs. Morgan, I'll go immediately. Don't worry, I'll make sure Mr. Walton will come back safe and sound."
Jessica nodded. "Okay."
Before leaving, Oscar called a car for Jessica.
It wasn't until Jessica got into the car that Oscar drove away, feeling reassured.
However, if Oscar had known that the car would have an accident, he wouldn't have let Mrs. Morgan get into it, even if it cost him his life.
In the car, Jessica sat quietly.
Her hand rested on her lower abdomen, always protectively covering it.
Jessica muttered, "Baby, I'm sorry. I promised to give you a complete family, but I'm too tired. I can't take it anymore. You can call me a coward or weak, but I really don't have the courage anymore. Baby, from now on, you won't have a father. But don't worry, I will take good care of you by myself."
Although the pain in her heart was growing wildly, Jessica still felt hope and confidence in life, thinking about the new life she was nurturing.
Because she always believed that the birth of her baby would bring her a different life.
However, Jessica never dreamed that this world was full of so many uncertainties.
"Miss, sit tight." Suddenly, a shout came from the driver in the front seat.
Jessica looked up in shock, and her heart nearly stopped.
In the pouring rain, a large truck was speeding toward them, moving incredibly fast without any sign of slowing down.
"The car in front..." Jessica's hand gripped the car tightly, her voice trembling with fear.
In that instant, countless thoughts flashed through her mind like lightning. 'Gabriel, goodbye! Gabriel, farewell forever. Giselle, it's Jessica. I'm coming to find you. Baby, Mommy is sorry, but Mommy will protect you with all my might.'
Jessica grabbed a cushion and placed it over her abdomen, bending over to protect her belly as much as she could.
A violent crash sounded, and the next moment, the car flipped, the world spinning around her.
