Chapter 777 Anticipation 2
Caroline's figure was a bit unsteady. She bit her lip and spoke with grievance, "Quentin, I know you can't accept it right now, but we're about to get married. That's an undeniable fact."
"Whether you're sad or angry, our wedding is in a little over a month. During this time, I won't restrict you and will give you freedom."
"I know you've proposed to Grace and given her that ring. She's on set now, probably eagerly looking forward to coming back and marrying you."
"So Quentin, I'm giving you time to handle things between you two."
"I'm not forgiving or magnanimous. Before the wedding, I can pretend not to know about this, but after the wedding, if Grace dares to appear in your life, even if I don't take action, Mrs. Taft and my dad won't sit idly by."
After saying what she wanted to say, Caroline turned and left.
"Wait a minute," Quentin suddenly spoke.
"Willie is my subordinate. You should show him respect and courtesy. Don't think that just because you're marrying me, you can boss my people around."
Caroline nodded, "Okay, you're right about that. I can correct it and will be mindful of my attitude towards him in the future."
Willie, who was standing respectfully at the door, moved at that moment.
Quentin cared about him very much.
After Caroline left, the office returned to its quiet state, with the breeze making it particularly cool inside.
Quentin's hands were tightly clenched into fists.
Finally, he slammed his fist into the heavy glass door.
Instantly, blood flowed from his fingers, a deep red.
"Mr. Taft, are you okay? Hold on, I'll get something to bandage you."
"No need, you can leave. I want to be alone."
Seeing the determined look in Quentin's eyes, Willie could only nod and agree, "Okay, I'll be outside. If you need anything, just call me."
"Alright."
Staggering a step, Quentin's figure wobbled and fell onto the sofa.
The wound on Quentin's hand was not treated, and the blood flowed onto the floor with each step, bright red drops like blooming roses, very striking.
Quentin looked up, his whole being wrapped in relentless pain, his voice coming out like the low growl of a wounded beast, "I'm sorry, Grace. If you knew, would you blame me?"
"I said I love you. No matter what I do, it can't stop my love for you. So what about you? Will you believe in me and stay with me?"
At that moment, Quentin's heart was filled with endless darkness.
He was at a loss, not knowing her answer.
On the plane, Grace had just hung up the phone.
"Was that Quentin?"
Just as she was immersed in happiness, a voice suddenly sounded in her ear.
Though it was a question, Mark's tone was already certain.
Considering he knew, Grace didn't hide it and nodded lightly, replying with a sweet smile, "Yes!"
"Have you reconciled?" Mark asked.
"Yes, we've opened our hearts, cleared up the misunderstandings, understood each other's feelings, and decided to be together for life."
This time, Grace didn't hide anything and openly shared.
Hearing her words, Mark felt a bit sad.
But more than that, he was worried.
His gaze suddenly fell on the ring on her hand, and his eyes narrowed.
Almost instantly, Mark grabbed her hand and asked urgently, "A ring? Quentin proposed to you? You're getting married?"
He asked three questions in a row, his face showing more surprise and concern.
Compared to his excitement, Grace seemed calmer, "You're right, we're getting married soon."
"Quentin is preparing for the wedding. Once I finish filming this movie, he'll have everything ready. Mark, although we haven't known each other for long, you've helped me a lot. I truly consider you a friend. Will you come to my wedding?"
Mark's eyes darted around, his emotions a mix of joy and sorrow.
In his mind, Kenneth's call from yesterday suddenly surfaced.
Kenneth said the Taft family and the Stewart family wedding invitations had been sent to The Powell Manor.
Inviting Kenneth and Mark to attend together.
The Taft family and the Stewart family wedding.
Who else could it be?
Other than Quentin and Caroline, he couldn't think of a third option.
His gaze fell back on the ring on Grace's finger, and Mark suddenly found that light very ironic.
Kenneth's news was from a couple of days ago, so it was the latest.
And Kenneth's information was usually accurate.
So what about Grace?
"Grace, can I ask when Quentin proposed to you?"
"Almost a month ago, before I came to the set. Why?" Grace answered honestly, not suspecting anything.
But Mark's mind was in turmoil, his brows furrowed deeply.
According to the timeline, Quentin proposed to Grace first and then decided to marry Caroline.
So, it seemed likely that Quentin and Caroline's wedding was real, and Quentin had backed out of the wedding with Grace.
Even though this was the logical conclusion, Mark held onto a sliver of hope.
"Grace, you love him so much. Have you ever thought about what you would do if Quentin deceived you one day?"
Hearing this, Grace's delicate brows furrowed slightly.
She didn't want to discuss this topic.
Mark noticed and quickly changed his approach, "I mean, hypothetically, just curious about your thoughts."
"It depends on what he lied about," Grace replied.
"If he deceived your true feelings, betrayed you, and married another woman?"
"If that's the case..." After a long murmur, Grace finally gave a light answer, "I would ask his intentions. If he wants to marry another woman, I would leave him, completely and cleanly."
In short, in this lifetime, she would never be a mistress.
"Mark, you don't want to see me happy? Why do you keep asking these sad questions?" Grace couldn't help but look at him.
For some reason, after hearing Mark's questions, Grace had a bad feeling, as if there was some hidden meaning.
"Of course not, Grace. You're my idol, my goddess. Now you're getting married, and to the person I dislike the most, Quentin. How can I be happy?"
Grace pushed him lightly and said seriously, "One day you'll understand that admiration is not love. You'll meet the girl you truly like and want to protect for life."
"No, I already have."
They didn't continue the conversation.
After getting off the plane and arriving at the room, Mark tried every way to contact Kenneth.
Mark needed to confirm whether Quentin and Caroline's wedding was real or not.
