Chapter 402 Crazy Longing
"Mrs. Walton gave me four thousand dollars. She said your wife had passed away, and you fell seriously ill from grief. She knew I looked a lot like your wife, so she asked me to pretend to be her to wake you up and help you recover."
Sure enough, what Riley said was almost exactly what Gabriel had imagined.
"What about after I recover? What did my mom say?"
"Mrs. Walton said I only needed to pretend for a few days. Once you were discharged from the hospital, I could take the money and leave, returning to my own identity."
Hearing this, Gabriel was immediately furious. "But you didn't follow the agreement with my mom at all. You kept pretending to be Jessica, even wanting me to marry you, is that right?"
Riley nodded. "I saw how deeply you loved your late wife. I was both jealous, and since I looked so much like her, I had some bad thoughts."
Because of her face which looked so much like Jessica's, Gabriel couldn't bring himself to do anything cruel to her.
But he knew clearly in his heart that Riley was not Jessica at all.
She just looked a bit like Jessica.
Closing his eyes, he spoke helplessly, "You should go. For the sake of your face, I won't do anything to you."
Riley immediately felt grateful and overjoyed. "Thank you, Mr. Walton, thank you for sparing me."
With that, Riley got up and walked towards the door.
Just as she was about to leave the room, suddenly, Gabriel's voice came from behind, "Wait a minute!"
Riley turned around.
Gabriel's dark eyes were calm and emotionless as he looked at her. "Leave your address."
"My address?" Riley was a bit surprised and didn't know what Gabriel intended to do.
But she still left her address and then left.
After that, Riley had been a bit on edge, afraid of being troubled.
But she waited and waited, almost a year passed without any trouble.
Riley's heart finally settled down.
However, one night, just as she got home, someone started banging on her door frantically.
Feeling afraid, she didn't dare to open the door.
But the knocking outside only grew more frantic.
Finally, she had no choice but to muster the courage to look through the peephole.
Although it had been nearly a year and it was dark, she recognized Gabriel immediately.
She quickly opened the door and exclaimed in surprise, "Mr. Walton, why are you here?"
Gabriel glanced at her and then walked straight in, sitting down on a chair in the living room.
"Mr. Walton, please have some water!" Riley placed a cup of water in front of Gabriel.
Gabriel looked at the cup but didn't drink.
Suddenly, he got up and walked around the room.
Soon, the brightest light in the room was turned off, leaving only a few dim lights.
He looked at Riley, who looked almost exactly like Jessica.
"Jessica." At that moment, he almost called out her name.
But he held back.
"Do you have any alcohol at home?" Gabriel asked.
"No, do you want some? I can go buy it for you."
"Yes." A short syllable escaped his throat, and Gabriel nodded.
A few minutes later, Riley came back with whiskey and red wine.
"Should I pour you a glass?"
She looked at Gabriel's handsome, chiseled face, her heart pounding wildly.
Fortunately, the light wasn't too bright, or her blushing cheeks would have been impossible to hide.
"Okay."
Soon, Riley poured Gabriel a glass of whiskey.
This time, Gabriel took it and drank it down in one gulp.
Then came the second glass, the third...
"Mr. Walton, you're drinking too fast. You'll get drunk easily. Let me make you some snacks to go with the drinks. Can you wait a bit?" Riley said timidly.
"No need."
With that, he downed another glass.
Then he looked up at Riley, his voice softening, "You don't need to do anything. Just sit across from me and don't speak."
Riley was about to say "Okay."
But Gabriel had already put his hand to his mouth, his voice low and deep, "Shh, from now on."
"Don't speak, just sit quietly," He repeated.
Then he started drinking his whiskey.
He didn't remember how long he drank.
Gabriel didn't say a word the whole time.
He just drank for a while, then looked at Riley for a while.
When he was sober, he would never mistake Riley for Jessica, even though they looked very similar. He was too rational.
Only when he was drunk, with his thoughts in disarray, his consciousness blurred and his longing at its peak, would he mistake Riley for his Jessica. The drunker, the better.
Sure enough, the more he drank, the more blurred his consciousness became, and the gentler his gaze towards Riley grew.
"Jessica, is that you?"

Riley had just gotten home from work when there was a knock on the door. Gabriel was already standing outside.
Just like last time, he turned off the brightest light, leaving only a few dim lights, then had her sit across from him without saying a word.
After getting drunk, he slumped over the table, murmuring over and over, "Jessica, where did you go?"
"Why do you only come to see me once a year?"
"Jessica, I miss you so much!"
As he spoke, he got drunk.
Then, Oscar came in with his men.
The only difference was that as Gabriel was being helped out the door, he suddenly turned around and staggered towards Riley.
His deep voice was especially gentle, "Jessica, your hair seems shorter. Did you have it cut?"
"I like it when your hair is long. Keep it long for me, okay?"
