Chapter 718 The Ring 1
"The reason is quite simple. They're all young male actors, and he's jealous."
Grace looked at Linda and gently shook her head. "He's always been domineering, not someone who lacks confidence."
"Maybe you're right, but love can make people blind and cautious. So when he heard that Lyndon had kids, he hesitated only for a moment before agreeing."
"Linda, I'm really confused right now. I need some time alone."
"Okay."
When Marlon was released and went back, he looked pale.
After a night of torment, Marlon appeared sickly, with no expression on his face.
Marlon walked in a daze, stumbling along.
Beth called him dozens of times, but no one answered.
She searched for him everywhere, extremely anxious.
Finally, Marlon appeared at her door.
The moment Beth saw Marlon, she immediately ran up and hugged him. "Marlon, where have you been? Do you know how worried I was about you?"
"What's wrong? Say something, don't scare me."
Beth helped him to the sofa, anxiously asking.
But Marlon remained unresponsive.
After a long time, he finally moved his fingers slightly and said his first words, "I need to take a shower."
"Okay."
After the shower, Marlon hugged Beth voluntarily. "Beth, I have nothing left now. You said you would stay with me. Does that count?"
"Of course."
"This movie can't be made anymore. Let's go home together, okay?"
"Okay."
With Linda's extensive communication, the crew had decided on Lyndon as the lead actor.
However, the script needed to be revised, and many things would take time.
So the crew decided to start filming in a month.
Thus, a month was freed up.
"Grace, should we go back?" Linda asked, following her opinion.
"Yes."
Although Grace was confused and hadn't made up her mind.
But avoiding it wasn't a solution.
Perhaps spending some time face-to-face with Quentin would be better.
After the plane landed, Grace took another hour-long car ride.
When Grace arrived at the Taft Group, it was exactly eleven o'clock, almost lunchtime.
So Grace called Willie. "Willie, it's me. Is he at the company?"
"Mr. Taft is here."
"Alright, I'll come over and have lunch with him. Don't tell him yet."
"Okay, Ms. Morgan, I'll book a restaurant for you now."
"Thank you."
Meanwhile, Willie received a call from Quentin and immediately went into the office.
"Mr. Taft, you called for me?"
Quentin took a ring out of the office safe and handed it to Willie. "I found a very creative packaging design. It's ready. Take it to be packaged now."
Willie was a bit surprised. "Mr. Taft, are you going to propose to Ms. Morgan?"
"The crew is on hiatus for a month. She should be back in the next few days."
Willie almost mentioned that Grace was about to arrive at the company.
But remembering her instructions, he swallowed his words.
"Mr. Taft, I'll take care of it right away."
"Once it's done, leave it in my office. I have a meeting."
Since the store was in the mall downstairs, Willie got it done in a few minutes.
When he returned, Quentin was still in the meeting.
Thinking that Quentin and Grace would be having lunch soon, Willie placed the packaged item on Quentin's desk and went back to his work.
However, Willie never expected that as soon as he left, Caroline would be brought up by the secretary.
"Ms. Stewart, Mr. Taft is in a meeting. You can wait in his office."
"Okay, thank you."
Caroline sat on the sofa as usual, playing with her phone and flipping through magazines.
Eventually, she got bored and started wandering around the office.
Suddenly, her eyes caught sight of a box on the desk.
"Wow, how unique!"
"This is so beautiful."
Caroline was immediately attracted and rushed over.
Without much thought, she opened the box in front of her.
She expected the box to contain the item, so she was filled with curiosity and anticipation.
After peeling off three layers, Caroline saw a delicate little box inside.
"Quentin is so thoughtful."
"He must have felt he neglected me recently and prepared a surprise for me."
The more Caroline unwrapped, the more excited she became, and she opened the innermost box.
When she saw a bright, dazzling ring inside, shining with a brilliant light, her heart leaped with joy, beating wildly.
If she hadn't seen it with her eyes, she would never have dreamed that Quentin's surprise was a ring.
And such a unique, collectible-level ring.
Caroline held the ring box with both hands, too excited for words.
She was overjoyed.
She knew Quentin cared about her.
He was just not good at expressing it, cold on the outside but warm on the inside. He actually cared for her deeply.
After her excitement subsided, Caroline gently opened the box again, then extended her finger and carefully took the ring out of the box.
Caroline examined it closely for a while before gently slipping it onto her ring finger.
She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, basking in the midday sun.
The diamond on the ring emitted a dazzling light.
Everything was beautiful.
Caroline laughed out loud with joy.
That smile was equally bright and dazzling.
At that moment, suddenly, the office door was pushed open.
The next moment, both of them were stunned.
Caroline looked at Grace inside the office; Grace stood at the door looking at Caroline.
Of course, Grace saw Caroline's outstretched finger, especially the dazzling ring on her finger that was impossible to ignore.
Grace didn't know Caroline was here; otherwise, she wouldn't have come over.
"Sorry, I..."
Grace said, about to leave.
Caroline suddenly called out to her, "Wait, come here."
Seeing Grace standing still, she raised her voice. "I know you're Quentin's secretary. He introduced you to me last time. I remember, don't you?"
Grace looked at her stiffly. "I remember."
"Then come over. I don't blame you for barging in."
Finally, Grace reluctantly went in.
Caroline immediately raised her hand, showing the ring on her finger to Grace.
At the same time, she said, "Help me take a look. Is this ring beautiful?"
Grace was suddenly very grateful that she was an actress and could rely on her good acting skills to say, "It's beautiful."
"Do I look good wearing it? Isn't it gorgeous?" Caroline eagerly asked again.
