Chapter 450 Jack Abuses His Power for Personal Gain
"Strange old lady, what does she look like?" Danielle immediately sensed something was wrong and quickly asked.
"Wearing sunglasses, she looked fierce. She stopped Mommy from leaving and grabbed my arm so hard it hurt."
Freddy said with a grievance, raising his hand in front of Danielle. "Grandma, look."
Although a few hours had passed and Freddy's wrist was no longer red, Danielle still felt heartbroken. "Alright, let me blow on it. Don't worry, Freddy, I'll make sure to get justice for you."
With Jonah at the table, Jessica found it hard to speak.
But Danielle asked bluntly, "Jessica, was it Patricia?"
Jessica glanced at Jonah silently, but Danielle interrupted her. "Why are you looking at him? Don't worry about anything, just tell me."
"If it was Patricia who bullied my Freddy, I must teach her a lesson."
At this moment, Jonah placed Freddy on his lap.
He looked at Jessica and said, "Your mother-in-law is right. Don't worry about me, just tell the truth."
Jessica then nodded, "Yes, it was Patricia."
"We ran into Patricia at the mall today. She insisted that Freddy and Gilbert were her grandsons and wanted to take them away. She even forced us to do a DNA test."
Danielle angrily slammed her chopsticks down. "Ridiculous! She should look in the mirror. What right does she have?"
"And what about you guys? Were you bullied?" She looked at Jessica with concern and worry.
Jessica smiled lightly and replied, "Mom, don't worry. I wasn't bullied. I bullied her."
Hearing this, Danielle became interested. "What did you do?"
"Because Patricia tried to snatch Freddy and Gilbert and insulted me, I called the police. She's at the police station now, and without my withdrawal of the report, she'll be in the holding cell for a few days."
Danielle felt completely relieved after hearing this.
She felt extremely pleased.
"Well done. You don't need to be polite with someone like Patricia and certainly don't need to be soft-hearted. After teaching you for so long, you've finally learned."
"Mom, don't worry. I won't let anyone bully me anymore. I'll protect myself and also protect Freddy and Gilbert."
"Good, I'm very relieved."
Because Gabriel was on a business trip, after putting Gilbert and Freddy to bed, Jessica also went to bed with them.
Her phone had been ringing since 7 PM.
She didn't need to look to know it was Jack calling.
Patricia was at the police station, and without her withdrawal of the report, Patricia would likely spend the night in the holding cell.
After that, she could be detained for at least a week, or even up to a month.
Although Jack had some influence and could use money to pull some strings.
However, her mother-in-law had specifically asked which police station Patricia was being held at after dinner.
Presumably, she would also contact someone to extend Patricia's detention time.
Under these circumstances, even if Jack had money, he wouldn't be able to bail Patricia out.
The next day, as soon as Jessica arrived at work.
She saw Jack, pale and furious, rushing over.
He grabbed her hand. "Jessica, don't you think you're being too harsh? Do you know my mom spent the night in the holding cell? She's old and not in good health, yet you let her stay there overnight."
"I called you so many times and sent so many video call requests. Don't tell me you didn't see them."
Jack's eyes were bulging with anger.
After he finished venting, Jessica's sharp gaze fell on him. "In broad daylight, with so many people around, Dr. Smith, isn't it inappropriate to grab me and use force?"
"Jessica!" Jack gritted his teeth in anger. "Do you have to be so aggressive?"
"Dr. Smith, I think I made myself very clear just now. If you don't let go of me, I'll start shouting."
"You're the hospital's vice president and a shareholder. I know you have influence, and the staff wouldn't dare to talk about you, but the media is different. If they find out you're harassing a hospital employee in broad daylight with such an arrogant attitude, I'm sure they'd be very interested!"
"These days, people love this kind of news. If Dr. Smith isn't afraid, I'll make sure the media gets a handsome picture of you."
"Fine, you're very ruthless!"
Jack's mouth twitched with anger as he was forced to let her go.
Relieved, Jessica shook her arm to relax.
"I have to get my mom out. Let's talk somewhere else," Jack said.
"Sorry, it's work hours now. Even if you're the hospital's vice president, you can't abuse your power. If Dr. Smith wants your mom out soon, show some sincerity."
"Threats won't make me yield."
With that, Jessica walked into the office.
As soon as she got inside, Tina pulled her aside, worried. "How are you? I just heard about it. Did Dr. Smith hurt you?"
"Don't worry, this time he needs me. He wouldn't dare do anything."
"Good, but several people said Dr. Smith was very angry. He's always been a bit temperamental. Be careful."
After talking to Tina, Jessica received a call from Gabriel.
"Jack might come to you this morning. Make sure to protect yourself. If you can't handle it, call my mom immediately." he instructed.
Jessica was surprised. "How did you know?"
"The Walton family has already pressured the police station. Unless you withdraw the report, Patricia won't be released. Jack is desperate now, so he'll come to you."
"He went to the Walton Manor last night, but Mom ordered that he wasn't allowed in."
"So, he'll come to you at the hospital this morning."
Jessica smiled and nodded. "Yes, your analysis is very thorough. I just saw him."
"How was it? Did he bully you?" Gabriel asked nervously.
"Don't worry, he needs me now, so he won't be that arrogant. Besides, it's broad daylight."
"Still, protect yourself. Once I sign the contract here, I'll come back immediately. If anything happens, tell me. Don't suffer in silence."
"Okay, Mr. Walton, don't worry."
By noon, Jessica hadn't had a moment to relax when Jack appeared in front of her like a ghost.
"It's break time now. Let's talk!"
"What if I don't want to talk?"
"You're right, I have the authority to put a stop to your work if I want." Jack continued to threaten.
