Chapter 502 Carolyn Wakes Up
Jessica quickly curled up in the corner, trembling.
"Vincent, something seems off with Jessica," Tina promptly said.
Vincent nodded; he had noticed it too.
At that moment, he couldn't be forceful. He could only speak gently and patiently to soothe Jessica's emotions and slowly lower her guard.
But Jessica stood there like a wounded rabbit, looking at everyone inside with fear.
Especially after scanning the room with a defensive gaze, Jessica became even more panicked and scared.
"Jessica, it's Vincent. I won't hurt you. Don't be afraid."
"Jessica, can you come over here?"
Vincent lowered his voice, making it very gentle.
But even so, Jessica stood pressed against the corner, warily watching everyone.
"Jessica, it's Tina. Do you remember me?"
Jessica still shook her head.
The police present also realized something was wrong and quickly instructed a colleague, "Go get a doctor immediately."
"No."
Vincent and Tina refused in unison.
Jessica was triggered by Carolyn's self-harming behavior at the time, leaving a certain psychological shadow.
Even familiar people like them made Jessica full of vigilance and fear.
If a completely unfamiliar doctor came, Jessica would only resist more, and the situation would worsen.
"Vincent, come over here for a moment."
Thinking of something, Tina spoke up.
Vincent walked over to Tina.
She immediately stood on tiptoe, her lips close to his ear, and whispered, "Jessica is very fragile and highly vigilant right now. Maybe only Mr. Walton can make her feel safe."
"You want me to pretend to be Gabriel?"
Tina nodded, "We can try."
"Okay."
Walking over again, Vincent reached out his hand to Jessica.
Vincent spoke at the same time, "Jessica, it's Gabriel. I'm back."
"I'm sorry I didn't keep my promise. It's my fault you suffered so much."
Sure enough, this time, a glimmer of light appeared in Jessica's eyes.
She looked at Vincent, her eyes suddenly turning red, "Gabriel, is it you? Have you come back?"
"Yes, it's me. Jessica, come here. Give me your hand, and let me protect you, okay?"
Jessica nodded vigorously.
She reached out her hand and started walking towards Vincent.
Just as she was about to reach him, Vincent took a big step forward and pulled Jessica into his arms.
At that moment, Jessica suddenly came to her senses.
She looked at Vincent and began to struggle violently, "No, you're not Gabriel."
"You lied to me. Where is Gabriel?"
After saying that, Jessica fainted.
"Jessica," Tina called out anxiously as she quickly ran up.
Jessica was taken to the hospital, accompanied by some police officers.
After a thorough examination, the doctor said, "There's no major physical issue. She'll wake up soon. Based on what you described, I suggest you consult a psychologist."
"Okay, thank you, doctor."
The psychologist arrived quickly.
They described the whole situation and Jessica's abnormal reaction.
The psychologist patiently analyzed, "Jessica was probably too scared at the time, causing a psychological shadow. Whenever she recalls that scene, she falls back into fear and panic, leading to uncontrollable behavior, hallucinations, and incoherent speech."
"At this time, if someone she trusts and relies on can comfort her and stay with her, she can gradually come out of it and heal."
"According to what you said, the person who can give her a sense of security is her husband."
"So as long as her husband cooperates, there's no need to worry too much. She will gradually recover."
The doctor's words gave them hope.
But it was also a kind of disappointment.
Finding Gabriel was easier said than done.
So far, it's been a while since the plane crash.
Apart from the two survivors found last time, no other survivors have been discovered.
So, Gabriel's chances of survival are probably very slim.
But Vincent kept these thoughts to himself.
"Will she have frequent episodes in the future?" Vincent asked.
"It's hard to say. It might happen again, or it might only be this once."
"Okay, thank you."
After waiting for over an hour, Jessica woke up.
She opened her eyes, and when she saw the white ceiling and realized she was lying in a hospital bed, she was very confused, "What happened? Wasn't I at the police station? How did I end up here?"
It seemed she had completely forgotten the earlier episode.
Since she had forgotten, they wouldn't bring it up.
"Jessica," Tina walked up and held her hand, "You were at the police station all day. Maybe you didn't sleep well and were under a lot of stress, so you fainted."
"You're pregnant, and we were worried about you and the baby, so we brought you to the hospital for a check-up. Don't worry, you're just a bit tired. You and the baby are fine."
Hearing Tina's words, Jessica felt much more at ease.
Since her condition had stabilized, she was taken back to the police station.
Before leaving, Vincent repeatedly instructed the police officers inside.
"Given your position, I understand you have your procedures, but Jessica is my friend, and I trust her character."
"Before all the evidence is out, I hope you will act impartially. I'll rush to collect the evidence. If anything happens to her, please inform me immediately."
Vincent added, "No matter when, even in the middle of the night."
"Understood."
Vincent and Tina had just walked out of the police station.
Suddenly, Tina's phone rang; it was a colleague calling.
"Tina, the patient you asked me to keep an eye on has woken up."
"Okay, thank you!"
After hanging up, Tina quickly looked at Vincent, "Things aren't looking good. Carolyn has woken up."
"Let's go see Carolyn."
"Alright."
When they arrived, the door to the ward was tightly closed.
Through the window, they could see Jonah inside, talking to Carolyn.
So they waited outside without disturbing them.
After a while, suddenly, the sound of a cup being smashed and Jonah's angry shouting came from the room.
"Carolyn, I'm telling you, don't even think about it. I will never agree."
"Patricia hurt Danielle, and you hurt Jessica. I won't let either of you off. I will send both of you to prison."
