Chapter 163 Picking Up Jessica from Work
During the entire lunch, Jessica and Tina sat facing each other, both with their heads down, eating without saying a word.
It wasn't until Jack left that Tina felt relieved and finally let out a sigh of relief.
Soon, she started chattering like a little bird.
"Jessica, you really scared me just now, you know? Dr. Smith's full name is Jack Smith, he is the youngest vice president of our hospital, so everyone just calls him Dr. Smith," explained Tina.
Suddenly, Jessica thought of something and immediately widened her eyes and asked, "So, you mean the person who was sitting next to us just now was Dr. Smith?"
Tina silently nodded. "Yes. And he was standing behind you the whole time. Otherwise, why do you think those female nurses and doctors were smiling at you so warmly?"
"I was wondering why so many people were smiling at me," Jessica said.
After lunch, Tina immediately pulled Jessica along. "Forget it. Let's go, I'll buy you to a cup of coffee. We can relax a bit during these two days of training; it'll get really busy later."
"Okay."
While waiting in line for coffee, Jessica suddenly remembered that Vincent had saved her yesterday, and she still owed him a cup of coffee.
So, she took out her phone and sent Vincent a message on Facebook: [Are you free today? Come for a cup of coffee?]
It wasn't until the training was almost over in the afternoon that Jessica received his reply.
Vincent: [Sorry, I was just in training.]
Jessica: [No worries, if you're busy today, I can treat you another day.]
Vincent immediately replied: [I'm done now. Where are you? I'll come find you.]
Jessica sent him the hospital's address.
Half an hour later, Vincent arrived just as Jessica finished her training.
Half an hour earlier, at the Walton Group.
As the alarm clock on the desk rang, Gabriel prepared to shut down his computer and got ready to leave.
Oscar widened his eyes in surprise. "Mr. Walton, are you leaving work?"
"What? Do I need to report to you?" Said Gabriel indifferently.
Oscar immediately shook his head. "No, of course not."
He was just curious why his boss was leaving work so early today. Gabriel had been a workaholic recently. What happened today that made him leave so early?
At the hospital, Gabriel parked his car outside.
The hospital featured a spacious entrance, flanked by two smaller doors on each side of the main entrance.
After parking, Gabriel walked in through the left small door. Just as he was about to reach the entrance, he suddenly saw a familiar figure.
Jessica?
Could it be that she knew he was coming and came to greet him?
Gabriel got excited. He looked down and carefully checked his attire.
After confirming everything was in order, he looked up and cleared his throat.
However, just as he was about to speak, he suddenly saw Jessica waving and smiling towards the other small door.
The next moment, he saw a another familiar figure walking towards Jessica from the right small door.
Vincent?
Him again.
Gabriel squinted his eyes, staring at him.
Then he watched as the two of them walked side by side past him and into the hospital.
Within the hospital, there was a cozy coffee shop. While not overly spacious, it boasted tasteful decor, and patrons often praised the quality of the coffee served there.
Once inside, Jessica immediately ordered coffee for herself and Vincent.
Since it was after work hours, there weren't many people. She got the coffee shortly after ordering.
Handing the coffee to Vincent, Jessica apologized, "I'm sorry, I should have come to you since I invited you, but I made you come all the way here."
"No problem, it's not far from where I work, so it's convenient," Vincent replied.
While drinking coffee, he asked, "Why are you at the hospital? Is your health not fully recovered?"
Her complexion indeed didn't look as good as before, a bit pale.
Jessica shook her head. "No, I'm much better. Today is my first day working here."
Hearing this, Vincent was quite surprised.
For a moment, a look of amazement flashed in his deep eyes.
"I must be shallow. We've known each other for so long, and I didn't know you studied medicine."
"It's not your fault. I didn't mention it on purpose, and at that time, I was still in school, so you probably just assumed I was a student."
They chatted for a while longer.
Suddenly, a strong perfume scent wafted over.
The next moment, a heavily made-up woman, wearing perfume and high heels, walked past them and sat at the table in front of them.
It was evident that Patricia Jones took excellent care of herself. Despite her age, she exuded a timeless charm.
Following her was a tall, elegant man.
When the man sat down, Jessica was instantly embarrassed.
The man was none other than Jack, whom she had just encountered earlier in the day.
To make matters worse, their seats were directly facing each other, and from her angle, she could clearly see Jack's face.
Seeing Jessica biting her straw several times and looking uneasy, Vincent asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
"The hospital's vice president just came in and is sitting right in front of me. I'm wondering if I should go over and say hello," Jessica said honestly.
After thinking for a moment, Vincent suggested, "It's your first day at work. If he has seen you before, he might remember you, so you should say hello. If he has no impression of you at all, it doesn't matter."
"He has seen me, so I should go say hello!" Jessica said, took a sip of coffee, and bit her straw hard to relieve her nervousness and stress.
Taking a deep breath, she mustered the courage to walk over and stopped in front of Jack, smiling as she greeted him, "Hello, Dr. Smith!"
However, the air suddenly felt quiet.
'It seems Jack had no impression of me,' Jessica thought, instantly feeling less awkward.
"Hello." Jack just nodded slightly, looking very accustomed to the greeting.
Jessica thought, since he responded, she should turn around and leave.
Suddenly, the woman opposite Jack called out, "Wait a minute."
