Chapter 568 A Miserable End
Cathy nodded, "Of course, we need to cooperate with the investigation, but Celia is also my patient. Her latest check-up results are very bad. She must receive treatment in the hospital, or she might never be able to have a baby again."
Celia gave a pale smile and looked at Cathy with gratitude.
"Thank you, but my wedding has already been ruined. There's no need to continue using this pretense to deceive my fiancé."
Cathy looked at her with confusion, "Pretense? Deceive?"
"Celia, as a doctor, I feel obligated to tell you that I never deceive my patients."
After a moment of stunned silence, Celia seemed to realize something.
Immediately, Celia's face turned ashen, devoid of any color.
With a trembling voice, Celia spoke in disbelief, "What do you mean?"
"Didn't we agree that I would pay you to help me deceive my fiancé?"
Cathy looked at her calmly, "I never took your money. I returned it to your mother a long time ago, and I never agreed to any of your requests."
Celia's complexion turned an alarming shade of pale.
"So, you mean you didn't lie to me." Her voice was hoarse, rising and falling with barely contained emotion, "This isn't a joke; it's all true. I really can't have a baby anymore, right?"
By the end, Celia was almost hysterically screaming.
Celia never imagined, not even in her wildest dreams, that this lie would become true.
"Oh God. Why are you torturing me like this?"
Cathy looked at her sympathetically, "When you had the abortion, I told you that your body is special. Coupled with the multiple previous abortions, this one could very likely result in the permanent loss of your ability to be a mother. It was you who insisted on giving up the baby."
At that moment, Celia was filled with nothing but regret.
Just then, Gabriel walked out.
It was clear he had heard everything Cathy had said.
Compared to the previous anger and hatred, he appeared exceptionally calm.
Because he knew clearly that from now on, Celia had nothing to do with him anymore.
"My identity is fake."
"The fall and miscarriage were fake. The truth is you killed that life with your hands."
"Your inability to conceive is also fake."
Gabriel continued, "Everything is fake."
"The ridiculous part is that your lie has become true. Celia, this is karma. Spend the rest of your life in endless regret and pain."
Suddenly, Celia laughed hysterically, as if she had gone mad.
Gabriel glanced at her indifferently.
Then he turned around, ready to leave.
At that moment, Celia suddenly spoke, "Gabriel, are you going back to find Jessica?"
Gabriel didn't pause, leaving Celia with only his back.
Then Gabriel spoke firmly, "Of course."
"Jessica is my wife. Wherever she is, that's where I'll be."
Celia looked at his indifferent back and couldn't help but mock herself, "Is it now a luxury for me to even look at you?"
"This farewell might be permanent. I may never see you again."
"Turn around, let me see your face. I want to remember what you look like. This might be the last time I see you in my life, okay?"
Celia's voice was filled with humility and pleading.
But Gabriel remained steadfast, his back straight and unyielding, without any intention of turning around.
"No need."
"Just let me see you once, just once, okay?"
Celia persisted.
But it was useless; he still faced away from her resolutely.
"Forget it." Celia smiled bitterly and gave up.
"But there's one thing I want to tell you, Gabriel. I may have lied many times, but at least there's one thing I never lied about."
"If I said I liked you, would you believe me?"
"No."
Gabriel said this one word, then straightened up and left resolutely.
His back showed no trace of nostalgia or reluctance.
When these words reached Celia's ears, she suddenly squatted down and cried bitterly.
"Gabriel, why don't you believe me?"
"I may have a bad record, but my love for you is real. I love you, and I wanted to spend my life with you."
Celia cried miserably, her voice trembling.
Celia's body also shook uncontrollably.
In the end, Celia cried herself into unconsciousness.
Gabriel was heading to the first-floor emergency room.
After getting his wound bandaged, he opted for outpatient treatment instead of staying in the hospital.
Because he needed to find Jessica.
Just as Gabriel reached the hospital entrance, his phone rang.
It was Vincent calling.
Gabriel immediately answered, eagerly asking, "How is Jessica? Where is she?"
"You still care about her? Did you think about Jessica's feelings when you chose to marry Celia?"
"I'm sorry, I know nothing I say now will help. Where is Jessica? I need to see her."
"Also, I've regained my memory. I remember everything between us."
Vincent responded calmly, "I know, otherwise I wouldn't have called you."
"Since you know, you should tell me how Jessica is."
"Jessica is fine. The car accident was fake. I had it staged to stimulate you and help you regain your memory. We have already returned to the country, and Jessica is at home."
Hearing this, Gabriel felt his heart swell with excitement and passion.
Jessica was fine! She was at home!
This was wonderful.
He needed to go back immediately to see her.
Now, nothing could stop him from returning to her side.
Just as Gabriel was about to leave, a young nurse ran after him, shouting.
"Finally caught up with you. Why are you walking so fast? Your doctor said your wound is quite serious. It is deep and could easily get infected or fester. It's recommended that you stay in the hospital for a few days."
"Thank you, but that's not necessary."
"Why are you so stubborn? Everyone suggests you stay for a few days. Why don't you take your health seriously?"
"Of course, I care about my health, but right now, I have something more important to do."
With that, Gabriel resolutely took a cab straight to the airport.
