Chapter 376 A Foreboding Premonition
"Her baby is due soon, and she wants me to acknowledge the baby as the father," Gabriel said.
"And you? Are you hesitating?" Jessica asked.
Gabriel immediately shook his head firmly. "No, I could never agree to that."
"I have you and our babies now, there's no way I would acknowledge hers. Besides, she's tried to harm you multiple times, I won't go soft on her again. But I didn't expect her to stab herself in the stomach to force me to agree."
"I refused, and she drove off alone. According to Oscar, she got into a car accident on the way to the hospital, and the baby didn't make it."
"The baby didn't make it?" Jessica's eyes widened in shock.
A baby carried for over nine months! It was already ready to be born!
And now the baby was gone?
As a pregnant woman herself, just hearing this made her heartache.
But she didn't sympathize with Diana, this was all her own doing.
She only felt sorry for the innocent baby.
The baby was about to open its eyes to see this beautiful world but lost its life because of Diana's obsession and hatred.
"Why can't she let go of her obsession? When will Diana finally wake up?" Jessica murmured, feeling endless melancholy.
"She's completely lost her mind now, filled with nothing but hatred. She won't give up easily," Gabriel said.
"So, you've been frowning because you're worried about my safety, afraid she'll retaliate against me?" Jessica asked.
"Yes," Gabriel nodded. "Your and the babies's safety is my biggest concern right now. I'm afraid she might do something harmful to you and the babies."
"Gabriel, I promise you, I won't go anywhere until our babies are born. I'll stay home and be safe," Jessica said proactively.
Undoubtedly, this was the safest place, and it was the best solution.
As long as Jessica stayed here and Gabriel had people guarding everywhere, Diana wouldn't be able to get in, even if she had wings, let alone pose a threat to Jessica and the babies.
However, Gabriel didn't bring it up because he didn't want to make Jessica feel confined.
"I'm sorry, Jessica, for making you stay here for two months, unable to go out and enjoy yourself or even get some fresh air. Will you blame me?" Gabriel asked, looking at her with guilt.
"Silly," Jessica said, caressing his face gently. "How could I blame you?"
"I know you haven't mentioned it because you didn't want to make me feel confined. I also know that even if I insisted on going out, you would have people protect me. But I understand that going out will be risky."
"And you don't want the babies and me to face even the slightest risk. Staying here is the safest option. How could I not understand that?"
Gabriel moved and immediately hugged Jessica. "Thank you, Jessica, thank you for understanding."
Then Jessica replied softly, "So, don't feel bad. I promise to stay home during this time. Besides, it's only two months. I'm willing to do it for the babies."
"Alright."
With this major concern resolved, Gabriel felt somewhat relieved.
But his heart as well as Jessica's was still on edge.
However, to their surprise, Diana had been very quiet for an entire month, with no unusual activity.
Even Gabriel's people reported that Diana showed no unusual behavior.
Moreover, Diana had left the country.
A few days after losing the baby, she went abroad.
Investigations showed that she found a job overseas and seemed to have started anew.
Although all the facts suggested that Diana had come to her senses and let go of everything, Jessica and Gabriel still felt something was off.
So, for the entire month, Jessica didn't leave the house once and stayed home 24/7.
Which clearly made Diana more and more anxious.
After work, she opened her phone as usual and made an international call. "How about now? Has she gone out?"
"No, not once in the entire month. She's been staying home," came the voice from the other end.
Diana clenched her phone in anger, her voice seething with rage. "Jessica doesn't even dare to step outside? What? Is she that afraid of my revenge?"
With a cold laugh, Diana continued, "Jessica, do you think staying inside means I can't get to you?"
"Just wait. I'll make you come to me willingly."
For the past month, Jessica had stayed home and gone nowhere.
To be honest, she was a bit bored.
But as long as she thought about the baby, she felt it was all worth it.
She was surprised to receive a call from Carter.
The past events were still vivid in her mind.
Thinking about how he had kidnapped her for money, she couldn't bring herself to say "I forgive you."
The phone rang countless times.
But Jessica held firm and didn't answer.
However, Carter then sent a message: [Jessica, I'm about to leave the country. This time, I'm not calling for money. Can you please answer my call?]

"I can't help it. How could I quit a lifelong habit? Jessica, we've been father and daughter for over twenty years. After much thought, I've decided to tell you the last secret I know."
"What secret?" Jessica's heart suddenly raced with excitement.
What secret could Carter possibly have?
If there was one, it could only be about two things.
One: her mother.
Two: her father.
And no matter which one, she desperately wanted to know.
"It's about your biological father."
When these words came through the phone, Jessica was overwhelmed with excitement.
As expected, she was right.
It was really about her biological father.
"Tell me!" Jessica asked eagerly.
