Chapter 512 The Secret in the Heart

"You said this handkerchief was left to you by your mother, didn't you? No, I can't use it to wipe my tears. Just give me a tissue."

Louie awkwardly said, "I don't have any tissues on me. It's okay, you can use this."

With that, he stubbornly placed the handkerchief into Jessica's hand.

But since it was something left by Louie's mother, Jessica felt too embarrassed to use it.

"Louie, thank you!"

Jessica wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"Mrs. Walton, it looks like it's going to rain soon. Let me take you back!" Louie urged.

Jessica looked up and saw that the sky was indeed overcast and gloomy.

"It is going to rain. How about this, you go back first. I want to sit here alone for a while."

Louie didn't move, his eyes reflected deep concern.

"Don't worry, this is The Walton Manor. No one else can come in. I'll be safe here," Jessica said.

"If Mrs. Walton wants to stay a bit longer, I'll stay with you."

Louie insisted as always.

Jessica had a reason for staying away.

Freddy and Gilbert were so smart that if she went back now, they would immediately sense her sadness.

Even though they were young, they might already know that something had happened to Gabriel.

They just hadn't asked to avoid worrying Jessica.

After sitting for a while, Jessica, perhaps too tired, fell asleep with her head resting on her hand.

But as soon as she closed her eyes, a few rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning came from the sky.

The rain was about to start.

But Jessica slept soundly and didn't wake up.

It seemed she was exhausted.

"Mrs. Walton," Louie walked over and gently called.

Jessica continued to sleep soundly with her eyes closed.

"Mrs. Walton, wake up, it's going to rain," Louie called again.

But Jessica didn't respond.

At this point, raindrops began to fall lightly, very fine and dense.

And it looked like it was going to pour soon.

Louie's gaze fell on a nearby sun umbrella.

He quickly ran over, carried it to the bench where Jessica was sleeping, and set it up.

Just as he opened the umbrella, the rain started to fall.

The rain wasn't heavy, but it was dense, like fine threads, blown by the wind and spreading like mist.

A gentle breeze stirred the hem of Jessica's dress.

Seeing that she was dressed lightly, Louie immediately took off his jacket.

However, just as he was about to cover her with it, he pulled it back.

Soaked by the rain, he ran to the hall.

Charlotte saw him and anxiously asked, "Where's Mrs. Walton? Why did you come back alone?"

"Mrs. Walton is asleep. Do you have Mr. Walton's coat? I want to get one to cover Mrs. Walton."

"Yes, wait here, I'll go get it."

Charlotte quickly returned with a mid-length coat and handed it to Louie. "The rain is dense, don't let it get wet, or Mrs. Walton will feel cold."

"Don't worry, Charlotte, I'll be careful."

Holding the umbrella, Louie quickly ran back.

Jessica was asleep, the gentle breeze blowing, and a few flower petals fell around her.

The petals swirled down like butterflies.

Some landed on the bench, some on her, and a few pink petals fell on her hair.

The soft pink adorned Jessica's hair, making her look especially gentle and beautiful.

Though Jessica was pregnant, she didn't look bloated at all. Instead, she had a gentle and indescribable charm.

Louie stopped in his tracks, mesmerized.

Time seemed to freeze, and in that instant, his heart raced like never before.

He completely lost track of what he was supposed to do, his mind going blank.

Until a cool breeze blew, he snapped out of it.

Taking a step forward, Louie walked over and carefully covered Jessica with the coat.

Feeling the warmth, Jessica's elbow moved slightly, but she just adjusted her position and continued to sleep.

After a while, the wind started to blow at an angle.

Fine raindrops drifted in.

Seeing this, Louie immediately stood up with the umbrella, moved to the side, and stood straight, using his coat to shield against the wind and rain.

Jessica's corner quickly became warm because of Louie's human shield.

The rain continued to fall.

In the past, Louie hated the rain the most because the ground would be wet, and it always made him feel damp and disturbed.

But at this moment, looking at Jessica, whom he was shielding from the wind and rain, Louie turned his head slowly, his gaze becoming gentle.

In the misty rain, Jessica's beautiful face looked even more stunning, like a painting full of poetic charm.

Louie couldn't help but take out his phone and snap a picture, treasuring it in his album.

When Jessica woke up, the rain had lessened significantly.

Because she had been resting her head on her arm, she felt a sharp pain in her arm as soon as she moved.

At this moment, her gaze fell on the coat covering her.

Seeing Louie standing nearby in just his shirt, without a coat, she quickly got up in a panic.

Hearing the movement, Louie immediately turned around.

"Mrs. Walton, you're awake?"

"Thank you for the coat." Jessica hurriedly handed the coat back to him.

Knowing she misunderstood, Louie quickly explained, "Mrs. Walton, this isn't my coat. It's Mr. Walton's coat."

"Gabriel's?" Jessica was surprised.

Jessica carefully examined the coat and realized it was Gabriel's.

"How did his coat get here?"

"I saw you were sleeping soundly and was afraid you'd catch a cold, so I asked Charlotte to get it and came back to cover you."

"I see. Thank you, Louie."

With that, Jessica cherished the coat in her hands.

Then she unfolded the coat and carefully put it on.

Since it was a mid-length coat, it reached her ankles, almost wrapping her entire body.

Outside the umbrella, the fine rain continued to fall.

Jessica's thoughts suddenly drifted to a snowy day in the past.

Back then, Gabriel wore this coat, standing in front of her with a gentle, doting smile, opening his arms wide.

And she would happily hop over like a little bunny, throwing herself into Gabriel's arms and hugging him tightly.

But now, things had changed.

All the beautiful moments were gone.

Seeing Jessica suddenly walk into the rain, Louie quickly ran over to hold the umbrella for her.
