Chapter 584 Investigation 1
Vincent had just returned from a business trip when he received a call from Gabriel.
Since it was noon, they decided to meet at a restaurant.
"I need a favor from you," Gabriel said straightforwardly.
"You're direct, what's the matter?"
Gabriel handed over all the materials and explained one by one, "Jessica found her biological father. The photo shows her parents together."
"We've already checked. Jessica's biological father was a police officer named Ulysses. But according to the records, he has passed away."
"Take a look first."
Vincent carefully reviewed all the information, "You think his death is suspicious?"
"You think so too?"
"It does seem unusual. His file is too simple, especially the death records, which are extremely brief."
"So there must be some hidden truth here. You know the police system better than I do and have more connections. If I remember correctly, the person in charge is an old friend of your father's and has a very good relationship with him."
Gabriel continued, "If you're willing to help, this matter will be much easier."
Vincent looked up, "You've done your research."
"Just tell me directly, can you help?" Gabriel asked bluntly.
Vincent waved to the waiter, "Could you bring the menu, please?"
Vincent's long fingers flipped through the menu. He elegantly and gentlemanly ordered several pricey dishes and a bottle of fine-aged red wine.
Then Vincent closed the menu and raised an eyebrow, "You're paying for this meal."
The implication was that Vincent had agreed to help.
Gabriel's eyes filled with a smile, "Not just one meal, ten meals if needed."
Gabriel had thought the investigation would take two days, but he received a call from Vincent that evening.
"How's it going? Any discoveries?"
"I haven't contacted Mr. Price yet. I just had someone check the system, and the results are identical to the forms you gave me. All the information is extremely simple, clearly deliberately altered," Vincent said truthfully.
Gabriel's frown deepened, "This is indeed not simple."
"It might be tricky and will take more time."
"Alright, let me know if you need anything. I'll fully cooperate."
After hanging up, Vincent immediately called Isaac Price.
"Mr. Price, are you resting?"
Isaac was quite happy to receive his call, "No, I just finished dealing with some matters."
"Mr. Price, while work is important, you must take care of your health. Are you home tomorrow? I'd like to visit you."
Isaac nodded happily, "Sure, you haven't visited me in a while. I have some free time tomorrow, so stay for a few drinks."
"Alright, Mr. Price. I won't disturb your rest then. I'll come over early tomorrow."
The next morning, Vincent had just come downstairs.
There was a beep outside, and Ennifer parked her red sports car, took out the keys, and walked in.
Seeing Vincent, she tossed the keys over, "Who are you meeting today? It's rare for you to want to drive my car. By the way, the king crabs you wanted have been prepared, just flown in, very big and fresh."
"And the vintage wine, it's all in the trunk."
Vincent caught the keys and smiled, "Thank you, Ennifer."
After Vincent left, Ennifer walked over to Alexis, "Mom, I'll have breakfast with you."
"Alright."
Madison was still sleeping in as usual.
At the table, Ennifer and Alexis started chatting.
"I wonder who Vincent is meeting today, looking so formal. If I didn't know better, I'd think he was going to propose!"
Speaking of which, Alexis still felt a bit regretful.
"Jessica's Gilbert and Freddy are already five years old. I heard Jessica's third child is about to be born. Have you talked to Vincent? Is he still hung up on Jessica? It's not good to keep delaying like this. I'm afraid that one day I'll suddenly die, and then everything will be..."
Ennifer quickly interrupted, "Mom, you're overthinking again."
"How can I not worry?"
"When I have time, I'll have a good talk with him. Relationships aren't like buying things; you can't just pay for them. It all depends on fate," Ennifer said.
"I remember now, he mentioned going to The Price Villa. By the way, I suddenly thought, Deanna came back a few days ago. Do you think..."
At this point, Alexis guessed happily, "Could Vincent have prepared all this just to see Deanna?"
Ennifer, however, was rational and denied it, "It's unlikely. Vincent probably has something to discuss with Mr. Price."
"Why not? He specifically asked you to prepare king crabs. I remember those are Deanna's favorite. And your car, maybe he's planning to take Deanna for a drive."
"Mom," Ennifer analyzed seriously, "Even if all your guesses are correct, Vincent has no romantic feelings for Deanna. They've been like siblings since childhood. If there were any romantic feelings, they would have shown up long ago, not now."
Alexis had a different opinion, "That's not always the case. Sometimes love develops later."
"I heard Deanna has become even more beautiful after spending a few years abroad. It's a good thing for Vincent and Deanna to meet this time. What if they develop feelings for each other?"
Ennifer fell silent.
At The Price Villa, Vincent brought in all the prepared items.
He specifically took the king crabs to the kitchen.
Then he took the wine to the living room.
"Mr. Price!" Vincent put down the wine and respectfully greeted him.
Seeing Vincent's dashing and upright appearance, Isaac was increasingly satisfied, "It's good that you're here. Why bring wine?"
"The wine was a gift to Ennifer. Mr. Price, you know I often go on missions and rarely drink, so giving it to you is the best option."
"You know how to talk."
Vincent and Isaac chatted about work matters in the living room for a while, played a few games of chess, and had some coffee.
At that moment, a cute voice came from the second-floor staircase, "Vincent, you're here?"
Before the words were finished, Deanna Price almost flew over, running straight to Vincent.
She was running so fast that she almost tripped.
Vincent quickly caught her, "Be careful. It's been years, and you're still as clumsy as ever."
"I'm just so excited and happy to see you."
She then looked at Isaac, pouting, "Dad, it's all your fault. You didn't tell me Vincent was coming today. If I had known, I would have gone to bed early yesterday and not slept in today."
After standing still, Deanna looked up at Vincent with a bright smile.
"Vincent, let me take a good look at you. It's been so long since I last saw you."
