Chapter 433 Returning with the Kids
Gabriel made a very good point.
Jessica was convinced. "Okay, I'll rest first, and then you."
"Yeah, Gilbert is already asleep. You can sleep next to him. He's tired, so he'll sleep soundly."
"Alright." Jessica nodded.
Before going to sleep, Jessica set an alarm for herself, she wanted to take Gabriel's turn after waking up.
But when she opened her eyes, it was already broad daylight.
She picked up her phone and saw that it was already noon.
She had planned to sleep for only three or four hours, but she ended up sleeping for so long.
Grabbing her phone, Jessica immediately ran over.
Over there, Freddy was already awake, lying quietly in bed with his big, clear eyes wide open.

At this moment, Freddy's weak voice sounded, "Mommy, it's so wonderful to see you and Daddy as soon as I open my eyes. I'm so happy to see you again."
"Daddy said that after the surgery, once my wound stops hurting, I'll gradually get better. So Mommy, don't cry. You should be smiling."
Hearing this, Jessica wiped her tears excitedly. "Okay, Freddy is so good. You are right, I should be smiling."
Saying this, she lowered her head and gently kissed Freddy's forehead. "I'm so lucky to have a baby like you."
She then looked at Gabriel, seeing his messy hair, the stubble on his chin, and especially the red veins in his eyes, Jessica felt extremely distressed.
It was obvious that her alarm must have been turned off by Gabriel after she fell asleep.
"I'll take care of Freddy. You go eat, and then get some good sleep," Jessica said.
But Gabriel shook his head. "I'm not sleepy, but I am truly a bit hungry. I don't like the food delivered from outside. Can you make me something I like?"
"Sure, what do you want to eat?"
"Fish, shrimp, meat, and some vegetables," Gabriel replied.
"Okay, there's a farmer's market not far from the hospital. I'll go buy some and cook for you. Wait for me." With that, Jessica walked out the door.
After she had been gone for a few minutes, Gabriel looked at Freddy. "Mommy has left. Don't worry about her hearing and getting upset. If it hurts, Freddy, just cry out. I'll keep it a secret and won't tell Mommy."
At this moment, Freddy bit his lip and softly whimpered, "Daddy, it hurts so much! When will it stop?"
"Freddy, are you sleepy? If you sleep for a while, it won't hurt as much." Gabriel held his hand, comforting him with a heavy heart.
If he could, he would take on all of Freddy's pain.
But Freddy was just a child, and they couldn't use too much anesthesia; it had to be controlled.
So Freddy had to endure the post-surgery pain with his willpower.
"Daddy, I'm very sleepy, but it hurts too much, I can't sleep with it."
Hearing Freddy's words, Gabriel felt almost suffocated with pain.
"Don't be afraid, Freddy. Our Freddy is a little warrior. Dr. Carr said that it won't hurt as much tomorrow, and the pain will gradually lessen."
"Gilbert also said that once you get better, he'll play with you. Do you want to play with Gilbert?"
"Yes," Freddy replied in a weak voice.
Besides diverting his attention and talking about things Freddy was interested in, Gabriel could only keep comforting him.
Outside the door, Jessica listened to the soft, painful sounds and felt truly heartbroken.
Gabriel was never one to cause trouble at times like this, but he had asked for her cooking and deliberately sent her away, so he must be hiding something from her.
It turned out that Freddy was in too much pain and didn't want her to know and be sad.
"Freddy." Covering her mouth, Jessica called out softly but didn't dare to make a sound.
Since Freddy didn't want her to know, she would pretend not to know anything.
At night, Gabriel continued to let Jessica rest and volunteered to watch over Freddy.
Jessica knew he was afraid Freddy wouldn't dare to cry out in pain, so he was pushing his own body to stay awake.
Understanding their good intentions, Jessica nodded in agreement.
In the first half of the night, Freddy was extremely uncomfortable.
Because of the pain, Freddy's little face was pale, and he didn't want to say a word.
Gabriel read picture books to him, telling stories he was interested in.
He was knowledgeable and also talked about a lot of scientific facts that Freddy liked, which Freddy listened to intently.
Unknowingly, Freddy had closed his eyes and fallen asleep.
In the second half of the night, Freddy slept for five or six hours straight.
In the morning, when he woke up and saw Gabriel, he even smiled and happily said, "Daddy, it doesn't hurt as much anymore."
"Really?" Hearing him say this, Gabriel was extremely relieved.
"Although it still hurts, it doesn't hurt as much. Dr. Carr didn't lie to me. Sleeping does help a lot."

"Daddy, does that mean I'm going to get better soon?"

Gently stroking his face, Gabriel replied, "Of course, you will be healthy very soon."
"Yay, Daddy, that's great. When I get better, the first thing I want to do is have you and Gilbert play soccer with me."
"Okay, we'll play with you."
However, soon Freddy's body started to show signs of rejection.
That period was so painful that Jessica didn't even dare to think back on it.
Fortunately, the rejection reaction went from severe to gradually easing. It was as if Freddy's new little heart was gradually adapting to his body, and they were getting along better and better.
After a month in the hospital, Freddy had almost fully recovered.
More importantly, early in the morning, Dr. Carr brought good news: Freddy could be discharged.
Hearing this news, Freddy clapped his hands happily.
At the same time, he looked at Gabriel. "Daddy, didn't you say that once I got better, you'd take me home to see Grandma?"
"Gilbert, Freddy, do you want to go home to see your Grandma now?" Gabriel squatted down and asked.
Originally, he was still a bit worried about Freddy's health.
So Gabriel planned to wait another half month before going back.
"Of course, we miss Grandma so much. Mommy said that Grandma would be very happy to see us. She also said that Grandma's birthday is coming up, and we want to give her a birthday surprise, okay?"
"No problem. We'll go home tomorrow!"
"Yay, Daddy is awesome!" Gilbert and Freddy hugged each other happily, overjoyed.
The next day, Gabriel took Jessica, Gilbert, and Freddy to the airport.
