Chapter 252 The Wound Infection is Severe

Diana immediately took out her phone and called Gabriel.

Seeing the name on the screen, Gabriel blocked the number.

When she tried calling again, it wouldn't go through.

The wheelchair sped forward, heading straight down the hill.

Diana's heart was about to leap out of her chest. She screamed at the top of her lungs.

There was a steep slope ahead, and seeing that she was about to go down, she had no choice but to grit her teeth, harden her resolve, and use all her strength to jump out of the wheelchair.

The wheelchair quickly sped down the slope and disappeared in an instant.

She lay on the ground, gasping for breath.

Luckily, she jumped out; otherwise, she would have been smashed to pieces.

She grabbed her phone and immediately called Sarah. "Hey, Sarah, I'm back from abroad and in a bit of an emergency. Can you come help me?"

Sarah got excited immediately. "Sure, Diana, send me your location, and I'll be there right away."

"Okay," Diana responded and then sent her location.

By the time Sarah arrived, Diana was barely hanging on.

She was lying on the ground, her face covered in dirt, barely clinging to life.

Sarah asked frantically, "Diana, are you okay? How did you end up here?

"Who hurt you like this?"

Sarah quickly helped her into the car.

Once in the car, Diana gave Sarah an address and said, "Take me there quickly. Make sure Professor Thomas checks my legs to see if it's infected. No matter what, we have to save my legs. Got it?"

"Got it." Sarah nodded.

"Okay." Only then did Diana close her eyes and fall into a deep sleep.

After sleeping through the night, Jessica felt much better when she woke up.

She insisted on going to work, and Gabriel had no choice but to agree.

But the condition was that he would personally take her to work and pick her up afterward.

"This is my only request," Gabriel said.

Jessica thought for a moment and could only nod. "Alright."

At the hospital entrance, Jessica got out of the car.

As soon as she got out, she noticed Gabriel also getting out of the car.

"I'll walk you in," he said.

Jessica shook her head. "No, you go take care of your own business."

"Okay." He nodded and stood in the same spot, watching her walk further and further away.

Only when her figure disappeared did he turn around, saying lightly, "Let's go."

Oscar immediately followed.

In the office, Gabriel cooperated fully with the doctor, quickly taking off his shirt.

The doctor questioned, "The infection is severe. Didn't I tell you to keep the wound dry?

"The wound was barely healing, and now it's worsened. What have you been doing these days, getting into fights every day?"

The doctor treating Gabriel was a very authoritative professor, so he spoke bluntly, without any tact.

Oscar, listening on the side, was deeply worried. "Professor, we did follow your instructions, but there was an accident yesterday, and Mr. Walton went into the water to save someone..."

Before Oscar could finish, Gabriel shot him a look.

The professor, however, heard clearly and immediately flew into a rage. "With these injuries, you went into the water to save someone? Are you trying to get yourself killed? Do you know what could happen if the infection spreads?

"This is reckless! You're not taking care of your own body at all."

The professor was both angry and concerned.

Gabriel, for once, obediently sat there, letting the professor apply medicine and bandage him without saying a word.

After bandaging, the professor advised him to stay in the hospital for rest.

"Okay." Gabriel agreed readily, but as soon as he left the office, he headed straight for the hospital exit.

Oscar, worried, asked, "Mr. Walton, I think it would be better for your injuries if you stayed in the hospital for a while."

"No need," he refused flatly.

Seeing his persuasion was useless, Oscar could only bring up Jessica.

Oscar continued, "Ms. Morgan would be very worried if she knew."

Gabriel pinched the bridge of his nose and said coldly, "Keep your mouth shut. If she finds out about my injury, I'll hold you responsible."

Oscar was puzzled. "Mr. Walton, your wound worsened because you were trying to save Ms. Morgan. If she knew, it could bring you closer. Why not tell her?"

"You'll understand when you have someone you truly love," he responded.

Of course, he wanted her to worry about him.

But he wanted her concern to come from love, not guilt.

The last thing he wanted was to see her eyes filled with guilt.

Once, when she looked at him, her eyes were like full of stars, brimming with love and affection, unstoppable.

But now, the love in her eyes was fading bit by bit.

After finally getting through the first rush of the day, Jessica sat down in a chair, took a breath, and had a sip of water.

Colleagues passing by kept thanking her.

One colleague said, "Jessica, thank you!"

Another passed by and said, "Jessica, you're so thoughtful. I have to say thanks."

She was puzzled and found a moment to pull Tina aside.

Hearing her confusion, Tina gaped. "No way, Jessica, you don't know yet?"

"Know what?" Jessica was even more puzzled.

Tina answered, "This morning, before you arrived at the hospital, we received a fancy breakfast, along with milk, coffee, and various high-end fruits that we usually can't afford.

"The note said it was from you, Jessica, and that you hoped everyone would take good care of you."

Jessica instantly understood.

She immediately called Gabriel.

"Yes, I arranged it," Gabriel answered straightforwardly.

She rubbed her temples, feeling overwhelmed. "Gabriel, thank you for your kindness, but I can't accept it. Have Oscar calculate the cost, and I'll pay you back when I get my paycheck."

"No. I never expect to get back what I give." Gabriel was very angry and hung up the phone with a snap.

Jessica pouted. What was he so angry about?

They had already broken up, and she couldn't comfortably accept these things.

Fine, she would explain everything to him when he picked her up tonight.

After work, Jessica got into Gabriel's car.

"Do you have time tonight? I'd like to treat you to dinner," she initiated.

He was a bit surprised but nodded. "Sure, what do you want to eat?"

She said, "Since I'm treating, you get to choose."

He answered, "Let's have steak then, you like it."

"No need to accommodate me. Just choose what you like," she emphasized.

"I also want steak," he said.

Then she looked at Oscar. "Mr. Murdock, please take us to a steakhouse."

"Sure, Ms. Morgan," Oscar replied.

When they arrived, the place was bustling with people.

They were lucky; a private room had just been vacated, so they took it.

"Gabriel." After sitting down, Jessica called his name.

Sensing something, Gabriel quickly said, "Let's talk later. I'm hungry. Let's eat first."
