Chapter 139 Actually Still Love Him

Jessica and Gabriel went to the company together.

After two years of marriage, this was her first time visiting his company.

The skyscraper in front of her was in a bustling location, almost reaching the clouds. As they got out of the car, Jessica took the initiative to say, "You go handle your business; I'll wait for you downstairs."

Gabriel advised, "Wait for me in my office."

Jessica shook her head. "No, I haven't been there in the past two years, and your marriage has never been made public. If I go with you now, a lot of people will definitely ask questions. I'd better not disturb you. There's a mall nearby, and I'll go there."

Gabriel frowned and then spoke domineeringly, "You either go to my office by yourself, or I'll carry you there."

Jessica was silent.

Sighing, she looked at him. "You shouldn't make things difficult for me."

"After all, we're about to get divorced. This is the last time I have made things difficult for you!" Gabriel finished, his eyes darkening.

Jessica stood up. "Alright! You go up first. I'll come in a bit."

Both took a step back. And Gabriel nodded. "Okay."

About ten minutes after he went up, Jessica got up and took the elevator.

When she opened the door and saw the office, Jessica was momentarily amazed. It was large, spacious, and very clean, almost spotless. There was a huge floor-to-ceiling window on the side, making the light very bright.

She had to admit, the office environment was very nice.

But it was still quite unexpected; it wasn't as luxurious as she had imagined. Instead, it was extremely simple and clean, which suited his style.

He must be efficient and meticulous at work.

At this moment, there was a noise from the blinds, the sound of a door opening, and voices, as if a meeting was taking place.

Jessica looked through the gap in the curtains and saw Gabriel walking in.

Earlier, when they went to Xavier and Ximena's old residence, he was wearing casual clothes.

Now, he had changed into a black suit, looking dignified and elegant. He strode with his long legs, walking gracefully to the front chair in the conference room.

When he bent over, his tie hung just over the table, exuding an air of dominance.

The morning sunlight just happened to shine in, casting a beautiful silhouette on his handsome face.

Jessica watched, somewhat dazed.

In the conference room, discussions were in full swing.

He sat at the front, listening quietly. When everyone had finished speaking, Gabriel's sharp eyes swept over the crowd, and his deep voice slowly reached Jessica's ears.

At that moment, she could clearly hear her heartbeat.

So fast, so intense.

It turned out that no matter how much time had passed, she would still get lost in his world again.

Over the past ten years, she had seen many sides of him.

His serious look while studying, his fluid and decisive movements while writing;

She had seen him full of spirit and vigor on the sports field;

She had also seen him while he was showering, seen him sleeping peacefully beside her;

She had even seen him in his moments of madness in bed, his eyes bloodshot, almost out of control.

She had seen all these various sides of him, and they were all etched in her mind.

So deeply, so clearly, so familiarly.

But among all these countless sides, she had never seen him at work.

Everyone said that a man looked his best and most attractive when he's working, especially when he's working meticulously in a suit.

Jessica always thought this was an exaggeration, but seeing it today, she felt it wasn't exaggerated at all.

He just sat there; whether it was the contour of his profile, his serious listening, or his expression while writing, all made her heart skip a beat.

Jessica reached out, placing her hand over her heart.

She knew this heart was still beating wildly for him.

But she was too tired.

She was already exhausted, with no strength left.

Quickly pulling down the curtain, Jessica walked to the other side of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the scenery below and taking deep breaths.

She couldn't. She couldn't think about him like this anymore.

She had to forget, she must forget.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Jessica looked up to see Oscar pushing the door open and coming in.

Oscar put down what he was holding and then said, "Mrs. Walton, Mr. Walton instructed me to prepare some snacks and coffee for you. He said you like it, so he specifically asked me to get it."

Jessica's eyes fell on the beautifully crafted cup of coffee, quite surprised. " He asked you to buy it?"

Oscar replied patiently, "Yes, Mr. Walton personally instructed it, and he even chose the flavor himself. He said you like this flavor."

"How did he know?" Jessica was indeed surprised.

Oscar scratched his head. "That I don't know."

"Mrs. Walton, please drink it while it's hot. It won't taste good if it gets cold. I'll head out now. Call me if you need anything."

Jessica nodded. "Okay, thank you!"

Oscar turned and walked toward the door.

Suddenly, Jessica remembered something and called out, "Oscar?"

Oscar looked at her. "Mrs. Walton, do you have any instructions?"

Jessica smiled. "These are not really instructions; I just wanted to ask when he finishes the meeting."

Oscar explained, "This depends on how the meeting progresses. I'm not sure either; it could be relatively quick, or it could go on until midnight."

Midnight?

Jessica frowned. "Will it be that late? Does he often work this late?"

"Mr. Walton is very serious and responsible about his work. For major projects, he usually oversees them personally. So sometimes it can be very tiring, and staying up late is common," Oscar said.

Jessica nodded, falling into deep thought.

When they got married, they often didn't see each other for long periods.

Especially at night, he always came back very late. She always thought he was socializing.

She was afraid of bothering him, so she never asked, and he never explained.

So she really didn't understand this aspect. Now, thinking about it, from the beginning of their marriage, Gabriel never gave her any chance to understand him or get close to him.

Because from the start of their marriage, he had made up his mind to get rid of her and get divorced as soon as possible.

Thinking about it now, it was really quite ironic.

Her eyes fell back on the coffee on the table. Jessica picked it up; it was cappuccino, her favorite one.

He had never paid attention to these things before. When did he find out?

If this cup of coffee had come a little earlier, she would have been very surprised, very happy.

But this cup of coffee came too late.

Yet she still carefully held it up, drinking it cautiously.

After finishing the coffee, with the afternoon sunlight, Jessica was already feeling sleepy.

She leaned on the sofa, falling asleep. The book in her hand fell onto her lap, and her profile looked gentle and beautiful in the sunlight. She was like a serene fairy.

When Gabriel pushed the door open, this was the scene he saw.

Her sleeping face was so beautiful that he didn't dare to disturb it in the slightest.

Watching her sleep, Gabriel walked over, unable to resist reaching out and gently caressing her soft cheek.
