Chapter 481 Danielle's Condition 2

Jessica immediately stood up and rushed over, "Doctor, how's my mom?"

As she asked, not only her voice but her entire body was trembling.

"Dr. Morgan, I won't hide it from you. Your mom's not in a great place. Her life is saved, but the chances of her waking up are very low."

Hearing this, Jessica felt as if she had been struck by lightning.

She couldn't believe it.

Why?

Their family had just gotten back on track and hadn't enjoyed happiness for long before this sudden misfortune struck.

She couldn't even imagine how Jonah and Gabriel would feel when they found out.

Danielle was quickly sent to the ward.

Jessica, in a daze, followed towards the ward.

At this moment, she couldn't even cry.

Just as she reached the ward, her phone rang.

It was a call from Amara Caldwell, Freddy and Gilbert's teacher.

Jessica was worried that something had happened to Freddy and Gilbert at school, so she didn't hesitate and immediately answered the call.

"Hello, Ms. Caldwell, this is Freddy and Gilbert's mom."

Amara said, "Hello, it's like this: this morning Freddy told me that their grandparents said they would bring lunch to him and Gilbert at school, so they didn't eat at school and have been waiting for their grandparents."

"But just now they told me that they haven't seen their grandparents. I called their grandparents, but no one answered."

Looking at Danielle lying motionless on the hospital bed, Jessica covered her mouth to keep herself from crying.

Suppressing her emotions, she spoke, "I'm sorry, Ms. Caldwell, Freddy, and Gilbert's grandmother had an emergency. I can't leave right now, but I'll come as soon as I can."

"Alright, I'll get something for Gilbert and Freddy to eat so they won't be hungry."

"Thank you, Ms. Caldwell, I'm sorry to trouble you."

After hanging up the phone, Jessica looked at Danielle and couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

She covered her cheeks, and tears flowed through her fingers.

By the time she finished crying, her eyes were swollen and red, her voice was hoarse, and even her body was trembling.

Thinking about what Amara had said about Jonah's phone being off, Jessica guessed that Jonah's phone might have run out of battery, so she called Tina.

"Hello, Tina, has my father-in-law finished his check-up?"

"Almost done. How are things on your end? Why does your voice sound so hoarse?"

Jessica couldn't hold back any longer and broke down crying, "Tina, my mother-in-law is out, but she isn't well."

Hearing this, Tina felt upset too, "Jessica, don't worry. You can't cry, and you're still pregnant."

"Don't worry, as soon as your father-in-law's check-up is done, I'll bring him down immediately."

"Okay."

About ten minutes later, Tina brought Jonah down.

As soon as he got inside, he rushed to Danielle's bed and grabbed her hand.

"Danielle, how are you? I'm sorry I'm late. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have let you go out today. If I had been with you, it would have been better."

"You've always hated me, haven't you? I wish it were me lying in this bed."

"Danielle, please don't sleep. Wake up, okay?"

Jonah was devastated, slumped by the bed, looking like he'd aged a lot in a heartbeat.

Jessica and Tina stood by, not approaching or interrupting.

It seemed like a long time before Jonah noticed Jessica standing nearby.

"Jessica, what did the doctor say?" He wiped his tears and spoke in a hoarse voice.

Jessica, with red eyes, tried several times before she could barely make a sound, "The doctor said, Mom..."

Jessica couldn't continue.

Surprisingly, this time, Jonah was stronger than Jessica.

"It's okay, just tell me exactly what the doctor said."

"Mom might be bedridden for the rest of her life. It's very difficult for her to wake up." Jessica said it all in one breath, then looked up, and tears fell uncontrollably again.

Jonah staggered back a few steps, shaking his head in pain, "No, it can't be. How could this happen?"

"Danielle, such a proud person, how could she never wake up? I was still waiting for her to forgive me!"

Tina, worried, walked over to support Jonah, "Mr. Walton, Could you please calm down and sit down?"

But Jonah, with despair, waved his hand, "No, I'll stand."

The atmosphere was charged.

For a while, there was only the sound of breathing and the beeping of the machines.

After what seemed like a long time, Jonah looked at Jessica, "Jessica, I want to be alone with your mom for a while."

"Okay."

Jessica and Tina left the ward together and closed the door.

Jonah reached out, his hand trembling as he held Danielle's hand.

"Danielle, if you're tired, then rest well."

"Don't worry, no matter what happens, I won't leave. I'll stay with you for the rest of my life; if you wake up, we'll enjoy life and make the most of our days together. If you don't wake up, I'll stay with you like this every day."

"In any case, no one can separate us again."

In the hallway, Jessica hugged Tina, "Tina, what should I do? Gabriel will be heartbroken if he knows Mom is sick like this."

"Jessica, don't put too much pressure on yourself. This was an accident no one wanted it to happen. You can't blame yourself."

"But..."

Before she could finish, Jessica collapsed onto Tina's shoulder.

"Jessica? Wake up, wake up."

Tina quickly patted Jessica's face.

But Jessica remained unconscious, with no response.

Tina immediately called a colleague, and together they took Jessica to the obstetrics department.

The results came out quickly: Jessica had low blood sugar, and the shock and overexertion caused her to faint.

Jessica slept for over two hours.

Seeing her weak, Tina didn't dare leave her side.

Fortunately, Tina was off today and could stay to take care of her.

When Jessica woke up, the first thing she saw was the IV drip in her hand.

Jessica frowned and asked softly, "What happened to me?"

"You have low blood sugar and fainted from being too upset."

Hearing this, Jessica immediately touched her belly.

Tina quickly reassured her, "Don't worry, the doctor checked, and the baby is fine."

Jessica finally breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing the evening sky outside, she checked the time and hurriedly got out of bed.

Tina pulled her back, "You've just started to recover. Where are you going? You need to rest."

"Freddy and Gilbert are still at kindergarten. I need to pick them up."

"Lie down and tell me the address. I'll go pick them up and bring them back to the Walton family. You're still very weak, and don't strain yourself."

"Tina, thank you so much. I don't even know what to say."

"Alright, there will be plenty of opportunities to thank me later. No rush."

Since it was getting late, Tina hurried to the kindergarten.

However, she was shocked to find out that Freddy and Gilbert had already been picked up.
