Chapter 557 Farewell 2

Hearing Cathy's words, Celia sobered up a bit.

Celia returned to bed, fists clenched and eyes wide open, glaring ahead with hatred.

"Jessica, I won't let myself lose."

"And I definitely won't let you win."

Theron and Alisha quickly cleaned up the ward and then brought over a glass of warm water. "Drink some water, don't get too upset."

Celia drank it all in one gulp.

Celia was still fuming.

It wasn't until Celia's mood had calmed down a lot that Alisha continued, "So, does this mean our plan failed? He kissed Jessica right in front of everyone, not caring at all."

Celia gritted her teeth, but her gaze became much more determined.

"Mom, maybe it didn't fail, but succeeded."

After calming down, Celia thought a lot, analyzed a lot, and finally came to this conclusion.

"What do you mean?"

"With his personality, if he decided to be with Jessica, he would apologize and compensate me in every way possible to seek my forgiveness. But he didn't; instead, he went to see Jessica. If I'm not mistaken, he's not showing off his love but trying to seize the last opportunity to say goodbye to her."

Alisha instantly felt a spark of hope. "Are you sure?"

"Let's wait and see. We'll find out the answer in a few days, anyway."

In the evening, after taking a bath, Jessica leaned against Francis.

"Will you lull me and the baby to sleep?"

"Okay."

But actually, Francis didn't need to lull her at all.

Jessica was already in the late stages of pregnancy, and after a walk in the evening, she quickly became sleepy.

Plus, lying in the arms of the man she loved, Francis, she felt very secure, so she fell asleep quickly.

It wasn't until she was sound asleep that Francis gently withdrew his arm, carefully placing her hand on the pillow.

That night, Jessica slept soundly while Francis sat beside her, wide awake, just watching her.

At five in the morning, he took out the prepared envelope and gently placed it on the nightstand beside her.

Then Francis lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

This was Francis's last farewell.

A deliberate farewell seemed too harsh, and Francis found it unbearable to say it to her face.

So he thought for a long time and could only come up with this way.

When he left, he walked particularly slowly.

It was only a few steps, but it took him five minutes to reach the door.

Finally, Francis closed the door and turned to leave.

When Jessica woke up, it was already nine in the morning.

"Francis."

As soon as she opened her eyes, she called his name.

But no one responded to her.

Jessica didn't think much of it, assuming he might be downstairs preparing breakfast, so she washed up and went downstairs.

But she couldn't find him anywhere downstairs.

Moreover, she saw a look in Louie's eyes, like he wanted to say something but was hesitating.

"Louie, where's Francis? I can't find him."

"Mrs. Walton..."

Louie hesitated, then struggled to continue, "I went to town today and heard some news about Francis."

"What news?"

"They're saying that Francis and Celia are getting married in three days."

Jessica stared at him in disbelief.

After a while, she barely managed to move her lips and forced a smile, "No, it can't be, Louie, you must have heard wrong."

"Others might not know, but you saw it. Francis was cooking for me and walking with me just yesterday."

"How could he suddenly change his mind overnight!"

"You must have heard wrong."

After saying that, Jessica hurriedly picked up the glass of milk in front of her.

Then, she almost drank the whole glass in one go.

And the food on the table, she ate it in big bites, without any pause.

She was eating too fast.

Louie felt heartbroken and couldn't bear to watch.

Even though it was cruel, Louie interrupted her.

He took away the food in front of her and looked seriously at Jessica. "Mrs. Walton, I'm not lying to you. I just heard this news in town."

"But it shouldn't be like this!" Jessica was still in denial.

She didn't want to believe the news.

Everything was fine between her and Francis just yesterday. How could it all change overnight?

"Mrs. Walton, I can guarantee that the news I reported to you is true. If you don't believe me, you can go to town and ask yourself."

Jessica, however, hurriedly left the table. "No, I won't ask."

"Why should I ask those people?"

"I'm full, and I'm a bit tired. I want to go upstairs and lie down."

After saying that, Jessica almost fled.

Back in her room, she closed the door and started calling Francis.

But one call, two calls...

In the end, she made over a dozen calls, and none of them were answered.

At this point, Jessica knew she could no longer deceive herself.

Jessica's eyes fell on the envelope on the bedside table, and she suddenly ran over and grabbed it.

Written in his familiar handwriting was: "To Jessica."

Jessica tore it open and, with trembling hands, unfolded the letter inside.

Soon, his handwriting came into view.

"Jessica,"

"I'm sorry for choosing to say goodbye to you in this way. By the time you read this letter, I will have already left your side."

"I know you will be very sad and upset, and you will be very confused. We were fine just yesterday, so why did everything change overnight?"

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. There's something I've never told you because I didn't know how to say it. The day we came down from the mountain, Celia had an accident and lost her baby. Not only that, Dr. Daniels said she might never be able to have children again, never be able to be a mother."

"It's all my fault. I destroyed all her hopes in life. I took away her desire to be a mother. I owe her too much. Watching her cry so sadly, knowing she was about to lose everything yet still smiling to let us be together, I simply couldn't feel at ease."

"I was wrong, wrong in hurting her, wrong in giving you hope and then letting you down, wrong in meeting you too late."

"Jessica, don't cry for me. Someone like me isn't worth it."

"I love you, very much, so I hope even more that you will be happy after leaving me, okay?"

Holding that letter, Jessica couldn't hold back any longer.

Jessica almost burst into tears.

"Francis, you idiot! What a fool!"

"You are my happiness. Without you, how can I be happy?"

Jessica was tired, exhausted.

She had given all her passion and patience.

This time, Jessica was completely drained and could no longer hold on.

[If this is your choice, then fine, I'll let you go. Just hope you won't regret it someday.]

After editing, Jessica sent this text message to Francis.
