Chapter 572 Actually Very Jealous 1

Gabriel didn't say anything.

He turned around.

Louie reached out and knocked on the door.

Soon, Jessica's voice came from inside, "Come in!"

When Louie entered, he didn't close the door; it was left ajar.

In other words, Gabriel could come in anytime he wanted.

"Mrs. Walton, have you still been having leg cramps and trouble sleeping these days?" Louie asked.

Jessica shook her head, "No, quite the opposite. I've been sleeping quite well these past few days."

Louie was stunned.

But soon, he figured out the reason.

"Mrs. Walton it was Mr. Walton who brought me up here just now."

Jessica suddenly looked at him, seemingly in disbelief, "He brought you up here? Where is he then?"

"If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Walton should be standing outside the door right now and hasn't left."

Indeed, Gabriel was leaning against the wall at that moment, his tall figure no longer as imposing and upright as usual but rather appearing somewhat desolate and defeated.

Gabriel's fingers held a cigarette, which he raised slightly before taking a deep drag.

In less than ten minutes, Gabriel had already smoked two cigarettes.

Gabriel's eyes looked particularly deep and sorrowful.

Although the door was slightly ajar, the room was well-soundproofed, so he couldn't hear a single sound from inside.

The more it was like this, the more tormented Gabriel felt.

It was as if thousands of ants were gnawing at his heart, each second was agony.

Several times, Gabriel wanted to rush in regardless of anything.

But in the end, Gabriel forcibly held back.

Inside, Jessica was sitting in a chair reading a book.

The pages of the book turned one by one.

The room was extremely quiet, with almost only the occasional sound of the book's pages.

After a long time, Louie broke the silence.

"If I'm not mistaken, Mrs. Walton, you're sulking with Mr. Walton, aren't you?"

Jessica put down her hand and calmly said, "I'm not sulking. I'm just feeling wronged, with heavy bitterness and discomfort that have nowhere to vent."

"Louie, why is it that only he can forget me and then turn around and fall for someone else?"

"Tell me, if I forgot him and fell in love with someone else..."

However, halfway through her words, Jessica shook her head.

Jessica smiled bitterly, "No, even if I lost my memory, I wouldn't fall in love with anyone else."

In this life, besides Gabriel, she had never loved anyone else.

But in Gabriel's heart, there had been many people.

"Louie, do you think I'm quite contradictory? When he lost his memory, I just wanted him to regain it and remember me as soon as possible."

"Now that he has truly regained his memory, I suddenly become sentimental."

Louie looked at her with heartache.

"Mrs. Walton, don't blame yourself."

"I know, you just love Mr. Walton too much, so you can't let go of some things."

"I can see that even after losing his memory, Mr. Walton still loved you. The reason he chose Celia was just because of a man's guilt and remorse, and an unfillable debt, not love."

"Really?" Jessica smiled, unsure.

Louie stayed in the room for about an hour and chatted with Jessica.

When Louie went out, he turned around and saw Gabriel standing by the door.

Gabriel, dressed in black, blended into the night, almost invisible if not looked at carefully.

"Mr. Walton!" Louie called respectfully.

Gabriel's hawk-like eyes stared at Louie, his gaze extremely sharp.

He was enveloped in a cold aura, his thin lips pressed tightly, a clear sign of his restraint.

After a while, Gabriel spoke, "Come with me."

In the study, before Gabriel could speak, Louie confessed, "Mr. Walton, Mrs. Walton was in a bad mood, so I just chatted with her for a while."

Gabriel raised his eyes and scrutinized him.

Then Gabriel spoke, "I heard that after I left, Oscar arranged for you to protect Jessica, and you've been by her side ever since."

"Yes."

"Freddy and Gilbert said you know everything about Jessica and have taken good care of her."

Louie slightly bowed, "Just doing my duty; my main responsibility was to take care of everything for Mrs. Walton."

"Alright, then tell me everything that happened from the first day you were by her side until today."

Gabriel had been absent from her life for too long.

He hoped it wasn't too late to make amends and wondered how she had been living while he was away.

"Okay." Louie nodded, "There's a lot to say, so Mr. Walton, brace yourself for a long conversation."

"No matter how long, I'll listen."

That night, the light in the study stayed on all night.

Gabriel's coffee cup was refilled again and again.

However, Gabriel didn't feel sleepy at all.

His heart was filled with an endless, suffocating pain, like fine threads winding around it, suddenly tightening their grip.

During the days he was absent, Jessica had endured so much.

How helpless and desperate she must have been.

Later, she finally found Gabriel, which should have been a time of joy and anticipation.

But Gabriel had forgotten her and said so many cruel things, did so many cruel things.

'Jessica, everything, all of it, is my fault.'

Gabriel clenched his fists, silently vowing in his heart, ' No matter what, I will win you back!'

The next day, just as Jessica finished breakfast and put down her fork, Gabriel walked up to her and spoke first.

"Let me accompany you to your prenatal checkup!"

Jessica asked in surprise, "How did you know I have a prenatal checkup today?"

"I asked Louie," he replied.

Gabriel had already looked through her medical records several times.

He had memorized all the dates for her future checkups.

Since it was late in the pregnancy, the checkups were more frequent.

And Jessica was worried about the baby, so she went almost every three days.

"No need, I'll let Louie accompany me."

"You haven't been in a long time, and you're not familiar with many of the procedures. Louie knows them better, and I feel at ease with him."

Jessica's words were like a knife stabbing into Gabriel's heart.

It didn't draw blood, but it hurt like needles.

Gabriel had missed her pregnancy.

It was an ordinary prenatal checkup, but he knew nothing about it.

Gabriel was a terrible husband, barely even worthy of being her bodyguard.

Clenching his fists, Gabriel spoke, "Jessica, I can learn."

"There's no need. Only a few weeks left in the prenatal checkups. Louie can handle it."

Gabriel opened his mouth, wanting to say something more, but found his lips felt glued shut, unable to utter a single word.
