Chapter 263 Both Angry and Embarrassed

Jessica suddenly realized what Madison meant.

She immediately reached out and covered her neck.

"I need to go to the restroom." After saying that, Jessica quickly went to the restroom.

When she saw herself in the mirror, especially the clear lip mark on her neck, she was instantly too embarrassed to speak.

It must have been Gabriel.

And he did it on purpose when she wasn't aware.

Thinking about this, Jessica felt both angry and embarrassed.

As she recalled the discussions outside, her face turned completely red, and the temperature rose rapidly, unable to cool down.

Because of the lip mark on her neck, Jessica stayed in the restroom for quite a while until she heard a knock on the door and Vincent's gentle voice. "Jessica, are you feeling unwell?"

"No, no, I'll be out soon," she answered.

Even after washing her face with cold water several times, her face was still red and hot.

When she came out, the blush on her face was particularly charming and alluring.

As soon as she opened the restroom door, she saw Vincent waiting nearby.

Seeing her come out, Vincent immediately took her hand. "Hang in there. I'll take you out soon."

"Okay." Jessica nodded.

Seeing them holding hands together, with Jessica's face blushing attractively, Alexis felt even more cheerful, with a satisfied smile on her lips.

Madison covered her mouth and giggled, "Looks like Jessica is shy, and my brother is feeling distressed. Alright, I won't say any more."

"Mom, you rest well. I'll take her home first," Vincent said goodbye.

"Okay, go ahead. Drive carefully and make sure to get Jessica home safely," Alexis said.

Vincent nodded.

As they left, they were still holding hands.

However, just a minute after stepping out, Vincent quickly let go of Jessica's hand. "Thank you for today, and sorry for any trouble."

"Not at all, you've helped me so many times, and I've only helped you this once," she said.

Jessica thought of the lip mark on her neck and felt a bit embarrassed. "It's me careless and almost causing you trouble."

Vincent immediately thought of the red mark on her neck. As a man, he knew all too well how it got there.

As he thought of something, his eyes darkened, and his voice became hoarse. "Did you and he make up?"

Asking this question was extremely difficult for him, and he took a lot of effort.

Jessica shook her head. "No, rather than making up, it's more like I've made peace with myself. I've been through a lot recently, and my heart has calmed down a lot. I've been telling myself not to hold on to obsessions.

"Now I just go with the flow, taking it one step at a time. I don't want to overthink things."

"Alright, if you need anything, you can always call me," Vincent said.

"Okay, thank you, Vincent." she said with a smile.

After having dinner together, Vincent received a call from Ennifer just as he dropped Jessica off at her community.

"Hello, Ennifer, what's up?" he picked up the phone.

"Has Jessica gotten home?" Ennifer asked.

"She's at the community gate, almost there," Vincent replied.

"Good, then come back to the hospital after you drop her off. I need to talk to you," Ennifer said.

Jessica heard this and offered to say, "Vincent, since your sister needs you, you can drop me off at the gate. I can go up by myself."

"I'll still take you up," Vincent said, not reassured.

"It's fine; don't worry. Our community's security is always very good. The guards are on duty 24/7 and are very responsible, so you don't need to worry about me," she explained.

Jessica was currently living in Grace's house.

She had bought this community because of its excellent security and privacy services.

Due to her acting and busy schedule, she often needed to leave and return home late at night, so she specifically bought a place with good security.

"Then call me when you get inside," he said.

"Okay, you go ahead. Don't keep your sister waiting," she said.

"Alright." He nodded.

Jessica's place was close to the hospital, and since it was off-peak hours, Vincent arrived at the hospital just over ten minutes.

As soon as he parked and got out of the elevator, he saw Ennifer waiting for him at the elevator entrance.

"Ennifer, what are you..." Before Vincent could finish his sentence, Ennifer scolded him, "Vincent, you have some nerve!"

"Ennifer, what happened? Why are you so angry?" Vincent led Ennifer to sit down nearby.

"Don't play dumb with me. I know all your little schemes. Only you could come up with such a bad idea, daring to deceive our mother. You've really grown up, huh?" Ennifer was now openly addressing the issue.

Vincent became more candid. "Ennifer, nothing escapes your eyes."

She continued, "Others might be fooled, but I've watched you grow up. The moment you walked in holding Jessica's hand, I knew it was fake. Madison is just more naive, so she believes it right away. Mom was too happy and trusts you too much, so she didn't doubt you at all.

"I've been in the business world for a long time and have seen all kinds of deceit. I saw through your little trick immediately."

After saying this, Ennifer was quite angry.

Then she asked, "Tell me, what were you thinking?"

Vincent lowered his head and only after a while did he look up, his voice heavy. "Ennifer, you don't have to hide it from me. I know Mom's condition isn't good. You've been trying to get Dr. Turner, but you failed. You've been bearing all the burden and pressure alone.

"You and Mom decided not to tell me because you didn't want me to worry or be distracted.

"When I chose this career path, I already felt I owed Mom. Now that she's sick, I feel even more guilty. Since having a girlfriend is Mom's dream, I wanted to do my best to make her happy."

"In case..." Vincent's eyes welled up with tears, and his voice became choked. "In case something happens, at least there won't be any regrets for her."

Ennifer was also moved.

Perhaps because she had been in the business world for so long, her personality had become very strong.

Like this time, many people had told her that her mother's condition was not good.

But she stubbornly believed that nothing would happen.

That was her mother, and the Lucas Family had plenty of money. They could hire the best doctors and afford all the expensive treatments, but she never dared to face the fact that if the illness reached a certain stage, no matter who she was or how much money she had, it wouldn't matter.

Looking up, Ennifer blinked her eyes to hold back tears, but her eyes were red.

Suddenly, her tears fell.

"Ennifer." Vincent stepped forward to hug her. "Don't blame yourself. If you want to cry, just cry."
