Chapter 480 Danielle's Illness 1
Tina was helping Jessica over, while Danielle was being wheeled into the emergency room.
Seeing a familiar face in the hospital, Jessica immediately ran forward, "Dr. Reynolds, that was my mother-in-law just now. How is she? Is she seriously injured?"
Since they were colleagues and knew each other well, Dr. Cecil Reynolds didn't hide anything from Jessica and told her the truth, "Dr. Morgan, you need to be prepared. Your mother-in-law lost a lot of blood when she was brought in, and it was all from her head. The situation is quite tricky."
Hearing this, Jessica suddenly felt weak all over. If Tina hadn't been holding her, she would have collapsed.
"Dr. Reynolds, is it that serious?" Jessica looked at him, asking in disbelief.
Cecil remained silent, his expression very grave.
At that moment, Jessica's heart began to plummet, as if falling into an abyss.
Jessica gripped Tina's hand tightly, trying to stand up straight, and asked in a trembling voice, "If the worst comes to pass, will my mother-in-law be alright?"
Cecil looked at her with pity, "It's hard to say right now. Don't worry too much; we still need to have hope."
Hope.
This was something she had said to patients countless times before.
But now, when it was happening to her, she found she couldn't stay calm at all.
Indeed, until it happened to you, you didn't know the pain.
Since it was the emergency room, the patients needing urgent care were in critical condition, and their families were all in the hallway, making it quite noisy outside.
The whole area was bustling, and Jessica's heart was already pounding violently, making it impossible for her to calm down.
Jessica's phone rang, and it was Jonah calling.
She didn't need to think to know that Jonah was asking about her mother-in-law's condition.
But how could she start?
How could she cruelly tell him that her mother-in-law was seriously injured? If Jonah knew, he would be devastated.
The phone kept ringing. Even though it was in her hand and she could easily answer it, Jessica felt it was too hard to pick up.
"Jessica," Tina looked at her worriedly.
Jessica's gaze was unfocused and hollow.
Suddenly, she handed the phone to Tina, "Tina, can you answer this call for me? It's my father-in-law asking about my mother-in-law. Just tell him I'm finding out and left in a hurry, so I didn't bring my phone."
"Okay."
Tina did as Jessica instructed.
After hanging up, she handed the phone back to Jessica, "You're afraid your father-in-law won't be able to handle the news, right?"
"Yes," Jessica nodded, her gaze still vacant, "Even though they've had some conflicts, I can feel that my father-in-law loves my mother-in-law very much. If he knew her condition, he wouldn't be able to accept it."
"And now Gabriel is not in the country. He doesn't know how serious the car accident is."
Saying this, Jessica hugged Tina and started to cry loudly, "Tina, what should I do?"
"And Gabriel, I don't dare to call him. If he knew, he would be extremely worried. I want to wait until my mother-in-law is out of danger and stable before telling him."
"But I'm afraid, I'm afraid that if something happens to my mother-in-law..."
Jessica's tears fell like a string of broken pearls.
Tina patted her back, comforting her over and over, "Jessica, I understand your worries."
"You're afraid that if something happens to your mother-in-law and you didn't tell Mr. Walton, it would be a huge regret, right?"
"Yes," Jessica nodded vigorously.
But she didn't know what to do.
Just as Jessica was in a dilemma, her phone rang again. It was Gabriel calling.
Jessica's throat felt parched. She wanted to call out 'honey,' but no sound came out.
On the other end, Gabriel's anxious voice came through, "Jessica, Mom was in a car accident and is in the emergency room at your hospital. Do you know?"
"I know. I'm waiting outside the emergency room."
"How is Mom? Is it serious?"
Jessica didn't dare to tell the truth.
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to calm down and said, "We don't know yet. She was already in the emergency room when I got here. Don't worry, I'll let you know as soon as there's any news."
"Okay, I'm catching a flight back right now."
"Honey, be safe. Don't rush."
"Okay, wait for me."
"Alright."
After hanging up, Jessica felt like she had lost all her strength and almost collapsed into the chair.
At that moment, she heard an urgent call, "Jessica."
Jonah, with his old and tired steps, struggling to run over.
When Jonah saw Jessica, he was sweating and breathing heavily, asking anxiously, "How's your mom? Did the doctor say anything?"
Jessica couldn't bear to tell him, so she just shook her head.
Jessica stepped forward to support Jonah, "Dad, did you run here? Why are you in this state?"
He was not only sweating on his forehead but also had a back soaked in sweat, and his face was unusually red.
"There was a traffic jam at the hospital entrance. I was worried, so I didn't take the car and ran the last part of the way."
Hearing this, Jessica was scared, "Dad, your heart has always been weak. Running here is too dangerous."
As she spoke, Jessica looked at Tina, "Tina, I think my dad's heart is beating too fast. Could you help me take him upstairs for a check-up?"
Jonah refused directly, "No, I want to stay here and wait for your mom to come out."
Jessica knew that trying to persuade him now was useless, so she said, "Dad, I understand how you feel. I'm just as anxious as you are, but there's nothing we can do except wait outside."
"Don't worry, I'll let you know as soon as Mom comes out."
Jonah still shook his head, "I want to see her come out myself. I won't feel at ease if I'm not here."
"Dad, Gabriel is still abroad, I'm pregnant, and I have to take care of Freddy and Gilbert. Think about it, when Mom comes out, only you can take care of her. If you fall ill now and leave her to the servants, will you be at ease?"
Jonah nodded heavily, "I'll go check my health first. If your mom comes out, let me know immediately."
"Okay."
After Tina accompanied Jonah to check his heart, Jessica sat alone on the bench.
After several intense moments, Jessica felt like she could barely take it anymore.
Even now, Jessica was still in a state of immense terror.
Closing her eyes, she clasped her hands together and prayed sincerely, "God, please, don't be so cruel. Let my mom wake up and be safe and healthy, okay?"
At that moment, the door to the operating room opened.
