Chapter 618 The Return of Grace 1
"You said you're fine?"
"It's just a bit painful," Tina whispered.
Thinking of something, she immediately changed the subject, "I'm going out, you take a shower first."
Once outside, Tina finally took a deep breath.
She found a mirror and took a closer look; there was a big bump on her forehead.
It was already quite noticeable, a large swollen area, very red and inflamed.
She had wanted to use an ice pack but found there was none in the room.
Her head was getting dizzier, and the effect of the cocktail was stronger.
Tina leaned on the sofa and sat down weakly.
Listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom, she suddenly felt very at ease, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.
When Vincent came out of the bathroom, he was already well on his way to sobriety.
"Tina!"
He called softly, but Tina didn't wake up.
Seeing the bump on her head getting bigger, Vincent called downstairs for ice and medicine.
After applying it to her, Vincent carried her to the bed and covered her with a blanket.
As for him, he booked a room next door.
When Tina woke up, her head was splitting with pain.
She reached out and rubbed it hard, but it still hurt a lot.
The aftereffects of the cocktail were strong; she shouldn't drink it casually in the future.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
Without thinking much, she opened the door.
Seeing Vincent already dressed and looking refreshed standing outside, Tina's mind went blank for a moment.
Then quickly, she remembered what happened yesterday.
"Vincent, you're awake!" Tina tidied her hair, feeling she was in the worst state possible.
"How are you feeling? Is your head better?"
Tina then reached out and pressed it, but it still hurt a bit.
"It should be better in a few days," she said.
"You're a doctor, it's best to have a doctor handle it at the hospital," Vincent said.
"Okay, I know. By the way, I remember yesterday..." Tina pointed to the sofa, "I seemed to have fallen asleep on the sofa, but woke up in bed."
"I carried you over."
Vincent's answer was straightforward.
"Thank you, Vincent."
"I should be the one thanking you. Thank you for drinking with me yesterday. There's something at the police station, so I can't stay with you. I've already paid for the room. I have to go now."
"Okay."
Tina watched his back, feeling full of reluctance.
But she knew clearly that she couldn't find any reason to make him stay.
So in the end, she could only watch him leave.
Watching his back, Tina reached out her hand and whispered in a voice only she could hear.
"Vincent, goodbye. Looking forward to our next meeting."
"You know? Being with you makes me happy, time flies so fast. I wish every minute and second with you could slow down, so I could cherish and savor it more."
Seven days later, Jessica returned home from her honeymoon.
The first thing Jessica did was ask if there was any mail.
"Mrs. Walton, it seems there isn't."
Jessica's long eyelashes drooped, feeling a bit disappointed.
Because of this, Gabriel was jealous.
"What mail is so important? More important than me being by your side?"
Jessica hesitated a bit, but thinking of the understanding and trust between the couple, she finally spoke, "Honey, thank you so much for the wedding you prepared for me."
"It was luxurious, grand, and thoughtful; almost all our friends and family attended. Even Dad, you made sure he walked me down the aisle and handed me over to you in the best way."
"I am very happy, truly happy."
"But, I have one regret."
Hearing Jessica had a regret, Gabriel immediately got nervous, "What regret?"
"The only regret is Grace's absence. She couldn't make it to my wedding."
Jessica continued, "We had agreed that no matter who got married first, the other would come back to be the bridesmaid, no matter where they were, to witness each other's happiness."
"I always hoped Grace could be my bridesmaid. She is my best friend, but I broke the promise."
"Now, our wedding is being reported everywhere. If Grace knew I didn't invite her, she would be very sad and upset."
The more she spoke, the lower her mood became.
Gabriel immediately hugged her tightly, comforting her softly.
"I'm sorry, honey. I didn't think it through. I wanted to surprise you with this wedding. I tried to contact Grace, but couldn't reach her."
"If Grace is upset, tell her it's my fault. You've always been thinking of her, missing her."
Because of this, after the wedding, Jessica immediately called Grace.
But strangely.
The phone number was invalid, and there was no response on Facebook.
Jessica was very anxious.
Finally, she remembered that she and Grace had agreed that if the phone and Facebook were not working, they would write letters.
There was an address where she would receive the letter.
So, Jessica immediately wrote a letter and sent some wedding photos.
She had thought that although writing a letter was slower, as long as Grace received it, she would reply.
But there was no response.
Jessica couldn't help but worry, worried that Grace was in danger, worried that she might do something foolish, and so on.
In short, her concern for Grace consumed her.
Gabriel felt sorry for Jessica, so he also put in a lot of effort and tried many ways.
But there was no result.
Until a week later.
Jessica was taking a nap at home.
Just woke up, a servant came to report, "Mrs. Walton, a Miss Grace Morgan is here to see you."
"What?"
Jessica could hardly believe it.
In an instant, Jessica didn't care about anything, put on a down jacket, and rushed downstairs.
In the hall, Grace was sitting on the sofa.
After not seeing her for a few years, Grace had become even thinner, but her face was still as beautiful as ever.
In Jessica's memory, Grace was always beautiful, like a noble peacock.
But now, Grace's proud aura was long gone, replaced by a gentle demeanor, nothing like the confident, radiant Grace of the past.
What had Grace been through all these years?
"Grace."
Calling out, Jessica ran over frantically.
She hugged Grace tightly.
Grace didn't say anything, also hugging Jessica.
This hug, after years of separation, was especially warm.
Jessica touched her slender wrist, and then looked at her small face, tears instantly flowed down.
"Grace, it's good that you're back!"
