Chapter 407 Reuniting with Dad 2
"Are you feeling guilty, so you don't dare to answer my question?" Gilbert questioned.
Gabriel shook his head. "Of course not. It's not that I didn't want to find my Jessica, but..."
His voice immediately choked up.
"I miss her so much and want to find her, but I also have my mom. If I followed her, my mom would be devastated."
"I've already failed to be a husband, I can't fail to be a son."
Gilbert blinked his big eyes, filled with confusion: 'Die? It's just asking Dad to go abroad to find Mom, would Grandma die? Does Grandma not like Mom? Does she disapprove of Dad going to find Mom? So if Dad leaves, Grandma would be so upset she'd want to die?'
Thinking of this, Gilbert's face puffed up with anger. Fine, if Grandma didn't like his mom, then he wouldn't like Grandma or Dad either. He didn't need this dad.
He only needed Mom and his little brother.
However, after all the effort to find Dad, not recognizing him made Gilbert very sad.
With red eyes, he got off the couch and walked towards the door.
But Gabriel couldn't possibly let him leave.
Chasing after him, Gabriel picked him up and asked, "Boy, do you have any more questions?"
"No," Gilbert said, a bit dejected.
"Okay, then it's your turn to answer my questions. What's your name? Who is your mom?"
Gilbert immediately pushed him away, feeling wronged. "It doesn't matter anymore, it has nothing to do with you."
"How could it have nothing to do with me?"
"Just let me go."
Struggling, Gilbert walked out.
Suddenly, he saw the photo in Gabriel's hand.
It was the same photo he had shown Oscar in the lobby downstairs, a picture of him and his mom.
Running angrily to Gabriel, Gilbert said seriously, "That's mine, give it back to me."
"No way, the person in this photo is my wife, I can't give it to you," Gabriel refused directly.
Gilbert was immediately displeased.
Clenching his fists, he shouted angrily at Gabriel, "Why? It's a picture of me and my mom, you have to give it back to me."
These words were like a depth charge, exploding wildly in Gabriel's mind.
What did this little boy say?
He said Jessica is his mom.
That meant Jessica was still alive and gave birth to a baby, and it was this boy in front of him.
Quickly organizing his thoughts, Gabriel immediately picked up Gilbert and asked seriously again, "Say it again, who is the person in the photo to you?"
"My mom." Since he had already said it, Gilbert admitted it openly.
Gabriel's heart was so excited it couldn't be described in words, but he still tried to suppress it because he had more important questions to ask.
"What's your name? How old are you?"
"My name is Gilbert Walton, and I'm five years old."
Five years old?
This completely matched his guess.
Gabriel's heart grew even more frantic.
Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm himself down. However, it was no use. How could he possibly be calm?
Five years, he had suffered and tormented for five years.
He had always thought Jessica had left this world, and that his life had no more expectations or surprises.
In his most desperate moment, suddenly, God gave him a huge surprise.
Now, Jessica was not dead. Even the baby in her belly was standing safely in front of him.
This was truly a gift from God.
Looking again at the little boy who looked so much like him, Gabriel's eyes instantly reddened, and then filled with tears.
Reaching out, his hands trembled as he cupped Gilbert's cheeks.
As he spoke, a tear rolled down from his eyes. "Gilbert Walton."
Gabriel murmured the name softly.
"Gilbert," With trembling lips, Gabriel's hand caressed Gilbert's face. "Sweetheart, I'm your dad!"
After saying this, Gabriel was almost too choked up to speak.
However, Gilbert just looked at him sadly. "I know, but if I have to choose between you and Mom, I will only choose Mom, not you."
"Why? Isn't it good to be with Dad and Mom?"
As he finished speaking, a very bad thought suddenly popped into Gabriel's mind.
Could it be that Jessica...?
She was already married?
Thinking of this possibility, Gabriel's heart ached as if it was being torn apart.
"Grandma doesn't like Mom, so Mom can't be with Dad. So I can only choose Mom," Gilbert explained seriously.
"Who said my mom doesn't like Jessica? My mom loves Jessica very much."
"You. You said if you went to find Mom, Grandma would die. Since Grandma doesn't agree, I won't let Mom go to your house to suffer. When I grow up, I'll protect Mom myself."
At this, Gabriel was at a loss whether to laugh or cry.
After thinking it over carefully, he realized Gilbert had misunderstood his words.
Looking seriously at Gilbert, Gabriel explained everything.
It was a long story, so Gabriel talked for a long time.
Finally, Gilbert blinked his eyes and looked at him happily. "So you mean, you never abandoned Mom, you just didn't know Mom took me and my brother abroad, so you didn't look for us?"
"You always loved Mom, my brother, and me?"
"Of course." Gabriel nodded, hugging Gilbert and planting a kiss on his forehead in excitement.
"Gilbert, I can tell you very seriously, that I love your Mom, your brother, and you very much."
Having been born and grown up, it was the first time Gilbert received a kiss from his dad, and he felt a bit shy. But Gilbert also felt very happy inwardly.
His little face turned a bit red, and he shyly called out, "Dad."
Gabriel immediately petted his head lovingly, his eyes filled with infinite affection. "Gilbert."
"But now, I have something more important to do. Where is your mom? Can you take me to find her?"
