Chapter 225 Jessica, you look a lot like someone

Jack cut her off quickly, "No, I don't."

"Really?" Tina looked confused. She asked, "Then why are you so worried about Jessica?"

Jack frowned and came up with a weak excuse, "I'm asking for a friend."

Tina responded, "Oh."

Jack probed, "So, do you know her boyfriend?"

Tina shook her head, and said innocently, "No, Jessica hasn't introduced him to me, but I saw him once at the hospital. He's really handsome, has a great presence, and a fantastic physique. Dr. Smith, I think your friend might not stand a chance."

Jack went silent.

He just wanted some info from Tina, not her analysis.

Jack dismissed her, "That's all, you can go now."

Even after leaving Jack's office, Tina was still puzzled.

Why did Dr. Smith suddenly ask about Jessica?

It was strange. Tina thought about it for a while and decided to tell Jessica.

Jessica was shocked when she heard, and repeated, "He asked about me? And my boyfriend?"

"Yes," Tina confirmed as she nodded.

Thinking about her awkward encounters with Jack, Jessica felt confused.

For some reason, she always found Jack a bit odd, but couldn't figure out why.

After work, Jessica just wanted to leave the hospital quickly.

At the main entrance, she finally relaxed.

But just as she exhaled, a car pulled up, and Jack's face appeared as the window rolled down. He offered, "Heading home? Let me give you a ride."

"No, thank you, Dr. Smith," Jessica refused without thinking.

Since they were on a busy street, car horns started blaring behind them.

"Get in the car!" Jack insisted.

More horns blared, creating a racket.

Jessica had no choice but to get in.

Jack sat in the back, and Jessica joined him.

Strangely, once in the car, Jack closed his eyes as if asleep and didn't say a word.

After ten minutes, Jessica looked at him, then at the neon lights outside, and finally spoke up, "Dr. Smith, if I've offended you, I'm sorry."

"My mom was a nurse. Being a doctor is our shared dream. I just want to do my job well," she added.

Jessica remarked, "If you can forgive me, please give me a peaceful work environment. If not, I'll consider going to another hospital."

After saying all this, Jessica felt lighter.

At least she wouldn't have to be on edge anymore.

Jack, however, remained silent with his eyes closed.

He didn't say "I forgive you," nor "I don't forgive you."

But his silence made Jessica more anxious.

If it weren't necessary, she really didn't want to leave this hospital.

It's because of Percy and Kathleen. They've been very kind to her, giving her important tasks and nurturing her. She can't let them down after all their effort and dedication.

She had mentioned that joining this hospital was a shared dream with her mom, and she wanted to fulfill that dream.

Plus, this hospital was one of the best in the city, even the country.

It had the most professional team and top-notch professors available, all of whom she admired.

The car kept moving, but Jack stayed silent.

Just as Jessica was feeling hopeless and thinking about her resignation letter, Jack suddenly opened his eyes.

He broke the silence, saying, "Why do you think I approached you just to trouble you? Couldn't it be to apologize?"

Apologize? Hadn't she already apologized sincerely?

Jessica was confused. What more did he want?

Seeing her expression, Jack sighed and said softly, "I mean, I want to apologize to you."

She replied, "Huh? Apologize to me?"

Jessica was stunned.

Jack said apologetically, "Yes, Jessica, I want to formally apologize. I misunderstood you."

Jessica was genuinely shocked. She felt frozen, not knowing how to react.

Jack was apologizing to her? Was she dreaming?

"Dr. Smith, are you serious? You're apologizing to me?" Jessica asked, doubtfully.

Jack nodded seriously as he said, "Rest assured, I'm not the same as before. If you have time, can you listen to my explanation?"

Before Jessica could respond, Jack started, "I had a bad impression of you before. I made things difficult for you, even mocked you, to make you show your true intentions."

Jessica gasped, "What?"

Jessica was genuinely shocked.

"I've encountered many women who approached me for my status and position," Jack continued with a bitter smile, "Some even used tricks to seduce me."

He confessed, "I've seen too many women like that, so I categorized you as one of them."

Jack apologized, "And because of that, I said harsh things and did bad things to you. I'm sorry."

Jessica hadn't expected him to apologize.

Though she still had some lingering resentment, hearing his explanation made her understand him a bit more and not blame him as much.

"That's one reason, but it's not the most important one," Jack suddenly added.

Jessica, still in a daze, asked, "Then what's the most important reason?"

Jack looked at her, his gaze deep and intense.

After a long pause, he finally spoke, his voice unusually heavy, "The most important reason is that you look like someone."

Like someone?

Jessica's first thought was about her own background.

Could it be that she looked like his father? And he knew her father?

She became extremely excited and grabbed Jack's clothes, "Like whom?"
