Chapter 734 Turmoil 3
"Grace, let's be honest, I can't think of anyone else but you."
With a disdainful sneer, Grace looked out the window. "Beth, it seems you've really been deceived."
"Do you know? Sometimes I don't know whether to feel sorry for you or to call you hopelessly stupid. Think about it, what good would it do me to do all this?"
Beth responded confidently, "Of course, it's because you resent me, want revenge, want to see me ruined, and then slowly take over my resources so you can rise again."
"And Marlon, I know he used to like you, but he's married to me now. He's my husband. Don't even think about having any designs on him."
Grace's slender, beautiful fingers tapped rhythmically on the steering wheel.
It seemed, Beth was truly both stupid.
Grace curled her lips into a smile and asked patiently, "I'm curious, what exactly did Marlon tell you? About me, about these rumors."
"He already explained to me that he went to your room that time just to talk about the script."
Grace continued tapping her fingers, curling her lips into a cold smile.
"Late at night, a man who already has a girlfriend goes to another woman's room to talk about a script, and they talk all night. Do you believe that?"
"Then what about his ex-girlfriend? How did he explain that to you?"
Beth bit her lip and continued, "They met through a blind date, there were no feelings involved, and they broke up amicably. I'm not the mistress."
"Moreover, his ex-girlfriend was completely jealous of him and wanted to ruin him. After Marlon became famous, she started getting greedy, asking him for money every year, and each time the amount got bigger. Marlon has been overwhelmed for years."
"But out of consideration for their past relationship, he kept giving in to her demands. Yet that woman was never satisfied. The last time, Marlon refused her. She held a grudge and wanted to ruin his reputation."
"Marlon is the victim here. The real villain is that woman."
At that point, Beth spoke with great righteousness.
Grace laughed contemptuously. "I see. So Marlon deceived you like this. No wonder he won Best Actor; he's not only good at acting but also at making up stories."
Beth glared at Grace angrily.
She did not agree with Grace's words.
"Nonsense, Marlon is a good man who values relationships. Even after his ex-girlfriend treated him like that, he couldn't bring himself to call the police. He endured such injustice and asked me not to, not wanting her to get arrested."
Grace rolled her eyes at her.
Suddenly, Beth reached out through the window and grabbed Grace's hand excitedly.
Beth, with tears streaming down her face, pleaded bitterly.
"Marlon told me that someone is supporting you from behind. Maybe you didn't do these things, but they were done for you."
"I'm here to apologize today, for myself and Marlon. We shouldn't have offended you. Please, give us a normal life back."
Grace sighed.
"Alright, since you're so persistent, I'll tell you everything."
"Marlon's ex-girlfriend wasn't a blind date. They had been dating since college and had a great relationship. After he became famous from a reality show, Marlon quickly broke up with her."
"His ex-girlfriend didn't agree, so he treated her coldly in various ways. But they never discussed breaking up, and they were still engaged. So when Marlon was with you, he wasn't single."
Beth shook her head desperately. "No, I don't believe it."
"You're lying. You're just jealous of how happy I am now, aren't you?"
Grace had anticipated Beth's reaction.
Taking out her phone, Grace typed a string of text and then showed it to Beth.
"I know you won't believe what I'm saying."
"This is the university where Marlon and his girlfriend went. I heard there's still information about them on the school forum. You can check it out; these things can't be faked."
Beth bit her lip, her eyes momentarily confused. "I'll check it out."
Grace bent down and found a USB drive in the car.
She handed it to Beth with her pinky finger. "As a fellow woman, here's a gift for you."
"What's in here?"
"I told you, I never flirted with Marlon. He broke into my room and sexually harassed me. When he couldn't get what he wanted, he tried to destroy me. That night, he almost strangled me. This is a recording of our conversation at the hospital that night. Listen to it yourself."
After saying that, Grace, not feeling assured, added, "Remember to keep it hidden from him."
"But what about those scandals? How do you explain them?"
Grace looked at her, her eyes sincere.
"You said I spread your scandals to get revenge and take your resources. Isn't that nonsense?"
"I just made a comeback. Even if you lost those resources, they wouldn't come to me."
"And during this time, our relationship has been so tense. Everyone knows that if something happened to you, it might be my doing. Do you think I'd be so stupid to slander you at this critical moment?"
"Beth, please be smarter."
Beth pursed her lips and thought for a moment. She nodded.
One had to admit, Grace made sense.
Grace indeed had no reason to expose Beth's scandals at this time; it would draw too much attention.
"Do you know who it is?" Beth suddenly asked.
Grace smiled. "It doesn't matter what I say. The important thing is for you to be smart and think it through."
"Beth," Grace, after all, felt a pang of sympathy, "let me give you some advice. If you want to return to a normal life, the only way is to leave Marlon, not to plead with me."
Grace's car had already left.
But Beth still stood there in a daze, clutching the USB drive, an answer was emerging.
"No."
"It can't be."
Beth shook her head desperately, unable to believe it.
She wanted to leave, to move, but her legs felt like they were filled with lead, unable to move an inch.
And she stood there stiffly.
Outside, lightning flashed, thunder roared, and the wind and rain raged.
The wind blew into the parking lot, chilling her to the bone.
She didn't want to believe it, but everything Grace said pointed to one name.
