Chapter 358 I Admit Defeat, I Give Up
"Chelsea, come back! Don't do anything crazy, just come back!" Rolf yelled as he ran after her. But there was no way he could catch up to Chelsea.
In no time, she was already in her car, flooring the gas pedal, and speeding off. She drove her sports car straight to the Walton Group.
When she got to the parking lot, she stepped out in her high heels, took the elevator, and went straight to the top floor.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Oscar greeted her with a smile. "Ms. Haugen, what brings you here today?"
"Where's Gabriel? I need to see him," Chelsea demanded.
"Mr. Walton is in a meeting. You can tell me if you need anything," Oscar replied.
"You?" Chelsea scoffed. "Can you make decisions for him?"
"How about you wait a moment, Ms. Haugen? I'll let Mr. Walton know as soon as his meeting is over."
Chelsea frowned deeply. Clearly, she couldn't wait even a moment longer.
"No, I need to see him now." With that, she pushed Oscar aside and headed straight for Gabriel's office.
"Ms. Haugen, you really can't..."
But before Oscar could finish, Chelsea had already pushed open the office door and walked in.
Finding the office empty, Chelsea was still not willing to give up.
"Gabriel, where are you? Come out and face me!" She shouted.
But there was no response.
At this moment, Oscar stepped forward. "Ms. Haugen, do you believe me now? Mr. Walton really isn't here."
Glaring at him, Chelsea grabbed his tie and threatened, "Cut the crap. Where is he? Take me to him right now. I need to see him now."
"Ms. Haugen, I really don't know where Mr. Walton is. Please wait. Once he's done, he'll come to see you," Oscar replied helplessly.
Chelsea didn't believe a word he said. Letting go of him, she walked out with her head held high. Like a madwoman, she started pushing open every closed door she encountered, regardless of what was happening inside.
Oscar followed behind, watching in fear but not daring to actually throw her out. He could only follow and plead, "Ms. Haugen, Mr. Walton really isn't on this floor."
Hearing this, Chelsea immediately stopped. Then she turned around, crossed her arms, and looked at Oscar. "Alright, thank you. I'll go to the next floor. I won't stop until I find him."
Oscar was instantly filled with regret. How could he be so stupid? Seeing Chelsea rushing towards the elevator, he had no choice but to run over and block her.
"Ms. Haugen, you win. I'll go find Mr. Walton right now. Please wait in the office for a moment," he said.
Chelsea was finally satisfied upon hearing this. She nodded and turned to walk back.
Oscar, on the other hand, walked heavily to the meeting room. He knocked on the door, then leaned in and whispered to Gabriel, "Mr. Walton, Ms. Haugen is here. As you expected, she's demanding to see you."
Gabriel looked at the time and then said, "Alright, we've discussed enough for the morning. Let's adjourn and continue at 2 PM."
With that, he grabbed his folder and was the first to leave the meeting room.
In the office, as soon as she saw Gabriel, Chelsea rushed up to him. Her anger was boiling over, especially seeing Gabriel's calm and indifferent demeanor. It made her even more furious.
"Gabriel, it was you, wasn't it? You suggested to my grandfather that I marry Henry, didn't you?"
"Why do you think that?" Gabriel asked, his demeanor as cool as a cucumber compared to Chelsea's rage.
"Who else could it be? You didn't want to marry me, so you passed me off to another man like a hot potato. Once I'm married, you're free, right?"
"Chelsea," Gabriel said her name seriously for once. "You know I don't want to marry you, why keep pushing? I've made it very clear to you. Besides Jessica, I won't marry any other woman."
Chelsea stood there, and suddenly, tears started to fall. The more she cried, the sadder she felt.
She was a mess, sobbing uncontrollably, "What's wrong with me? Why don't you love me?"
"Chelsea, love isn't about right or wrong. What you feel for me might not even be love. It could just be a youthful obsession and a refusal to lose."
"Over the years, Mr. Haugen has given you everything you wanted. You're used to getting what you want. My sudden rejection triggered your desire to win, so you want to marry me even more. But in reality, it's not love."
"No," Chelsea shook her head frantically, tears streaming down her face. "It's not that, Gabriel. I really want to marry you and spend my life with you. Even if..."
Her voice trembled as she continued, "Even if Jessica is pregnant with your baby, I wouldn't mind being a stepmother. But why can't you give me a chance?"
"Sorry," Gabriel said firmly, looking directly at her. "No matter what, my answer will always be the same. It's impossible between us."
Chelsea stared at him blankly, her heart aching. She turned around, tears streaming down her face as she tried to wipe them away.
After what felt like an eternity, she looked at Gabriel again. "Fine, I give up. I won't force you to marry me anymore. But I know I didn't lose to Jessica. In terms of background, looks, or figure, I think I'm better than her. I just lost to your coldness and decisiveness."
"But even if you don't want to marry me, you can't just pass me off to another man. I've never even met Henry. I absolutely won't marry him." With that, Chelsea couldn't bear to face him any longer. She pushed the door open and ran out.
At this moment, Oscar walked in. "Mr. Walton, we've been searching for Mrs. Walton's whereabouts, but the situation..."
"Go on."
"The situation is very bad. There's almost no trace of her," Oscar said heavily.
All her information was blank. There wasn't even any online payment record.
It seemed Jessica had prepared very thoroughly. Otherwise, she wouldn't have left no trace at all.
Rubbing his temples, Gabriel said wearily, "Leave me. I need some time alone."
He closed his eyes, but Jessica's face and voice filled his mind. Her tears, her laughter, her pouting, her cuteness—all these memories haunted him like a relentless nightmare, swirling madly in his thoughts.
'Jessica, where are you?' he wondered desperately.
