Chapter 619 Grace Returns 2
Jessica's voice was choked with excitement, and tears flowed like a river.
Grace was also excited, but compared to Jessica's emotional outburst, Grace was much more restrained.
"Jessica, I'm back."
"I received the pictures you sent me. The wedding dress is beautiful, and the wedding was grand."
"It's wonderful to see you marry the one you love. I'm so happy for you."
As she spoke, Grace couldn't help but shed tears of joy.
Jessica gently wiped Grace's tears and asked the question she had always wanted to ask.
"Grace, are you leaving again this time?"
"No, I'm not." Her voice was very soft.
"Have you decided?"
"Yes, I have. Some things have to be faced, whether we like it or not."
Jessica knew what Grace was talking about, so she didn't hide it anymore, "All these years, Quentin has been looking for you and has never stopped."
"I know. He almost found me several times. This time, he discovered my phone number, so I immediately threw it away and moved."
"But Jessica, I've had enough of this hiding. I don't want to hide anymore, so I decided to come back."
Jessica felt a pang in her heart.
Grace and Quentin had been entangled for so many years, but the result was not a fairy tale ending where the prince and princess lived happily ever after.
Instead, Grace was left battered and bruised.
"Grace." Jessica hugged her with heartache. "If you don't want to talk about him, we won't. Don't you like flower shops? Let's open one together. I'll invest, and you can be the boss. How about that?"
"Thank you, Jessica!"
Grace smiled but gently declined.
"Before I came back, I had already made up my mind. I want to stand up where I fell. Acting is my dream, and I want to go back to acting, back to the stage, back to the big screen."
Jessica was momentarily speechless, her face full of seriousness and worry.
"Grace, have you thought this through?"
Back then, the Taft family almost ruined her reputation.
Overnight, Grace was insulted by many people.
Grace already had scandals, and the entertainment industry changed quickly. It was not easy for Grace to return now.
"I've thought it through." Grace nodded.
"Jessica, to be honest, I always thought I had let go of everything in the past, but recently a director approached me with a great script and invited me to act."
"Do you know? This is the only invitation I've received in all these years. I felt my heart come back to life. I know he just wants to use my return to the entertainment industry to create buzz, but I accepted."
"That was a profession I once loved with all my heart. I don't want to give it up, especially not because of him."
Grace's tone was very firm as she said this.
Her eyes, which had always been dull, finally had a glimmer of light.
Jessica was very worried, "Grace, Quentin might find you soon."
Grace panicked and immediately grabbed Jessica's hand, pleading.
"Jessica, I don't want to face him yet. I didn't go to a hotel because I was afraid he'd find me. Can you help me find a place to stay?"
Jessica thought of several places but quickly dismissed them.
Those places were all part of the Walton family business, and Quentin knew the Walton family well. It would be easy for him to find Grace there.
After thinking it over, Jessica finally thought of Tina.
So, she immediately called Tina.
Tina readily agreed.
"Tina, thank you so much."
"No problem. Your friend is my friend. I'm off for the next couple of days, so don't worry. I'll take good care of Grace."
When Grace left, Jessica saw her off.
She instructed the driver to make sure she was taken to Tina's house.
Jessica instructed everyone at home who knew Grace was coming to keep it a secret, even from Gabriel.
Tina was extremely surprised when she saw Grace.
After rubbing her eyes hard, Tina blinked in disbelief. When she realized the person at the door was indeed the famous Grace, it finally sank in.
"Are you Grace? The friend Jessica asked me to take care of is you?"
Tina was in a state of shock.
If she hadn't seen it with her eyes, she wouldn't have believed that the friend Jessica mentioned was Grace.
"Yes, I'm Grace Morgan. Nice to meet you, and thank you so much for taking me in." Grace extended her hand and smiled.
Tina was almost overwhelmed. After a moment, she reacted and immediately extended her hand.
"Hi, I'm Tina Ingram. I'm a good friend of Jessica's."
"Don't worry, you can tell me if you need anything."
Seeing Tina so enthusiastic, Grace felt at ease.
To welcome Grace, Tina tidied up a room, put on new sheets and covers, and even gave her the master bedroom.
Grace refused, "No, this is too much."
"It's no problem." Tina insisted, "Jessica's friend is my friend. Besides, I can't tell you how much of a fan I am! I've watched almost all your shows."
"I saw the news back then. I never believed those rumors. It was such a pity when you left the entertainment industry."
Hearing that Tina was her fan, Grace felt somewhat comforted.
"Thank you, Tina!"
On the other side.
Jessica had just sent Grace off when Gabriel returned.
He walked in hurriedly and looked at Jessica. "Grace is back!"
He wasn't asking; he was stating it.
Jessica looked at him in surprise. She hadn't expected Quentin to find Grace so quickly.
"Who said that?" Jessica asked, trying to control herself.
"Quentin has a lot of eyes at the airport. As soon as Grace returns to the country, he will know. Did she come to see you?"
After hesitating for a moment, Jessica looked at Gabriel. "Honey, I don't want to lie to you. We have met."
"I knew it. So, you're the one hiding Grace?" Gabriel continued to ask.
Jessica nodded.
"Jessica," Gabriel looked at her seriously, "You don't understand Quentin's determination to find Grace this time. As long as Grace is back, no matter where you hide her, Quentin will eventually find her."
"Even so, I have to help Grace. Honey, I'm not asking you to help me, but at least, you shouldn't help Quentin."
Gabriel rubbed his temples in frustration. "You're my wife, and he's my friend. I'm not taking sides, but honey, I have to tell you, within a day, Quentin will send more people to find Grace."
As it turned out, Gabriel's timeline was even longer than reality.
That evening, Tina cooked, and the two of them had dinner together.
After dinner, they watched TV in the living room.
Tina's phone suddenly rang; it was Vincent calling.
"Dr. Ingram, are you home?"
"I'm here."
Ten minutes later, Vincent knocked on Tina's door.
He handed over a tube of ointment. "No matter what, the injury on your forehead happened because you were drinking with me. I feel responsible. If it leaves a scar, I would feel terrible, so you must take good care of it."
It turned out Vincent had come specifically to bring her medicine.
Tina was very happy.
Because the door was open, and the living room faced the door, Vincent looked up and saw Grace.
Almost immediately, he grabbed Tina's hand and lowered his voice, "You know Grace?"
"She's Jessica's friend. Jessica asked me to take care of her."
Vincent glanced again as if he had a lot to say, but in the end, he only said, "Try not to let her go out these days."
Quentin from the Taft family had a lot of power.
As far as he knew, Quentin had mobilized not only his resources but also an unknown number of police officers, all with one goal: to search the entire city for Grace.
Vincent hadn't expected Grace to be at Tina's place.
As Vincent was leaving, Tina hesitated for a moment but then gathered the courage to speak.
"Vincent, I have a few days off coming up. Can I invite you to go out and have some fun?"
"Sorry, Dr. Ingram, I have a mission starting tomorrow. It might be a while before I get back."
Tina felt very disappointed upon hearing this.
But she lifted her head and tried to smile. "It's okay, Vincent. Work comes first, I understand."
Seeing Tina's obvious disappointment but still smiling brightly, Vincent suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
In an instant, he felt a surge of compassion.
His response came almost without thinking.
"If you're not in a hurry, you can wait for me to come back after the mission."
"Really?"
Tina immediately became extremely happy, unable to hide her excitement.
"Yes, I'll contact you when I get back," Vincent said.
"Okay," Tina responded sweetly, feeling even more delighted.
After seeing Vincent off, Tina returned to her room.
Everyone thought it would be a peaceful night, but no one expected what happened next.
That night, just after midnight, a sudden, loud knock shattered the stillness at Tina's door.
"Coming." Tina opened the door, looking sleepy.
When she saw a group of people standing in the dark at her door, she trembled slightly. "Who are you?"
"I'm looking for Grace," Quentin said coldly, his tone extremely indifferent and distant.
Tina almost immediately tried to close the door. "Sorry, you have the wrong place."
But Quentin was quick to hold the door open.
Tina's strength was no match for his.
Tina could only watch as Quentin's tall figure pushed past her and walked inside.
"Sir, please understand, this is my house. What you're doing is trespassing." Tina followed, speaking angrily.
Quentin just stared coldly at the door, not even glancing at her.
Tina was completely infuriated by his arrogant attitude.
She didn't waste any more words and took out her phone to dial 911.
However, before she could connect, Quentin's bodyguard snatched her phone and threw it on the sofa.
"Ms. Ingram, Mr. Taft doesn't want to hurt you, so please behave."
"Let me be clear, even if you call, it won't help."
Tina glared at him, trembling with anger. "I doubt you can pull that off."
Quentin slowly turned his head.
His cold gaze fell on Tina, and his voice, though calm, was full of menace. "Give me the key to the room!"
"Never!" Tina refused without hesitation.
Quentin let out a low laugh and spoke elegantly but indifferently.
"I admire your courage, Ms. Ingram, but such bravery is worthless to me."
With that, he took a few steps forward.
Then he stopped.
His voice was low and extremely seductive, "Grace, come out now, and I can pretend none of this happened."
The response was a chilling silence.
Grace had just stepped out of the bath, sitting on the bed like the most forlorn little rabbit.
Her oversized pajamas hung loosely on her, making her look even more fragile.
"Grace, I'm giving you one last chance." Quentin's voice came again.
Like a gentle demon, speaking the most heartless threats.
Grace continued to hug her knees as if she hadn't heard.
"Three, two..."
Suddenly, the door was violently kicked.
"Take the door off."
"Yes, Mr. Taft."
Tina shouted from outside, "Stop, this is my house. You have no right."
Unfortunately, no one paid attention to Tina's words. They continued as if they hadn't heard her.
Grace couldn't hold back any longer and shouted. "Stop."
"Quentin, stop making things difficult for Tina. I'm the one you want. I'll go with you."
Immediately, the door was opened.
Grace was wearing a plain white nightgown, so thin it almost revealed the color of her underwear.
But Grace didn't care. She stood barefoot on the floor, unbothered.
"Cover your eyes and get out."
Suddenly, Quentin roared, rushing over.
In the next moment, his long coat was draped over Grace's body.
"Who allowed you to dress like this?" Quentin asked furiously, almost through gritted teeth.
