Chapter 719 The Ring 2
Grace nodded, "It looks good. Ms. Stewart looks very pretty wearing it."
"Really?"
As if unsure, Caroline asked again.
"Yes, this ring suits you very well."
"Then I won't disturb you. I'll get back to work."
Since Caroline thought Grace was a secretary, Grace played the role of a secretary dutifully.
As soon as Grace left, a faint, lonely smile appeared on Caroline's lips.
The ring was truly beautiful.
However, it seemed a bit small.
Caroline had struggled to put it on her finger.
Could it be that she had gained weight recently?
But no matter what, she was very happy.
Even though she and Quentin were engaged and had rings.
She knew that the ring was bought by Ruby for her, not by Quentin.
She understood Quentin had always been resistant to this marriage and was unwilling to marry her.
But she loved Quentin, loved him so much that she was willing to wait.
Now, she had finally gotten a good result.
Quentin was willing to buy her a ring, which meant he was willing to accept her, wanted to marry her, and live a good life together.
Caroline was truly overjoyed.
So much so that she didn't notice when the office door was pushed open.
It wasn't until Quentin's cold voice sounded in her ear, "What are you doing?"
Caught off guard, Caroline instinctively put her hand down and hid it behind her back.
But Quentin had already noticed.
His gaze fell on the open packaging box, finally stopping at the ring box.
Seeing that the ring box hadn't been opened and was still intact, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Then Quentin immediately picked it up and put it in his coat pocket.
Seeing him so nervous, Caroline felt very happy.
It seemed Quentin didn't want her to know and wanted to give her a surprise.
Since that was the case, she had to find a way to return the ring.
To cover up the ring on her hand, Caroline said, "I was just passing by, so I came up to see you. I have an appointment with my friend, so I'll leave now."
Quentin didn't say anything, but his expression remained cold.
Just as Caroline reached the office door, suddenly, he shouted, "Caroline!"
Startled by the sudden call, Caroline quickly used her bag to cover her hand and stood there stiffly.
"Quentin, what's wrong?"
Quentin's gaze fell on her.
He spoke, his voice icy.
"From now on, without my permission, you are not allowed to enter my office casually, and you are not allowed to touch any of my things."
Caroline felt a bit aggrieved, "But Quentin, I'm your fiancée. Do we need to be so clear about this?"
"I'm the boss. If I don't separate personal and professional matters, how can I expect my subordinates to follow?"
"Alright."
Caroline nodded and compromised.
When Grace returned, she took a cab and leaned against the window, watching the pedestrians and vehicles pass by.
She wanted to clear her mind and think of nothing.
Having lost her appetite, she went straight to take a nap.
The Taft Group.
In the afternoon meeting, Quentin was in a very bad mood.
The entire meeting room felt like an ice rink, his expression was ashen, and there was no warmth at all.
Everyone below was silent, not daring to breathe.
Willie silently lamented, 'Didn't he have lunch with Grace? Quentin should be in a good mood!'
It seemed that the proposal didn't go well.
Grace probably didn't agree.
At three in the afternoon, the meeting ended.
After delivering the documents, Willie cautiously spoke up, "Mr. Taft, forgive me for speaking out of turn."
"If you know it's out of turn, then shut up." Quentin's temper was very irritable.
"Mr. Taft, sometimes an outsider sees things more clearly. So I have to say, you can't blame Ms. Morgan for the proposal." Willie continued.
"You and Ms. Stewart are still engaged. You should break off the engagement with Ms. Stewart and regain your freedom before proposing to Ms. Morgan. That would be better."
Quentin looked at Willie, bewildered, "What proposal? Who proposed to her?"
"I haven't even seen Grace."
Willie was also shocked, "How is that possible? Mr. Taft, Ms. Morgan called me this morning, saying she wanted to surprise you and have lunch with you at the company."
Hearing this, Quentin kicked him.
"Idiot, always causing trouble for me."
"Did you know Caroline came over at noon?"
Willie immediately realized the problem.
It seemed that when Grace came over, she must have run into Caroline, leading to a misunderstanding.
Therefore, Quentin didn't have lunch with Grace at all.
No wonder Quentin was so angry.
"Go get the car, I need to go back now."
With Quentin's shout, Willie immediately reacted.
When Quentin got home, it was not yet four o'clock.
During the time Grace wasn't around, he usually got home around twelve.
Coming home so early suddenly, the servants were stunned, "Mr. Taft, you're back?"
"Where is she?"
"Ms. Morgan is upstairs taking a nap."
No wonder he came back so early; it was because Grace had returned.
Seeing Quentin eagerly going upstairs, the people downstairs immediately reported, "Mr. Taft, Ms. Morgan seemed to be in a low mood when she came back. She didn't eat lunch and went straight to sleep."
"Go prepare something light now."
When Quentin entered the room, it was very quiet inside.
The curtains were drawn, so the room was dimly lit.
Grace was asleep, her delicate face looking particularly serene and beautiful.
Quentin didn't wake her, just sat beside her and waited.
He waited for about ten minutes before Grace woke up.
Seeing Quentin, Grace was also stunned, "Why are you back so early?"
"Did you sleep well?" he asked.
"Pretty much."
Quentin lifted the blanket and, without a word, carried her downstairs.
"Why are you carrying me down?"
"You didn't have lunch. Aren't you hungry?"
A few minutes later, Grace was sitting in a chair, and Quentin was sitting next to her.
He also picked up a fork, but instead of eating himself, he was adding food for her.
Grace focused on eating with her fork, and neither of them spoke.
It wasn't until they finished eating that Quentin spoke, "Are you full?"
"I'm full."
"Then can we talk now?"
His gaze was intense as he looked at Grace; no thought in her mind could escape his eyes.
This time, Grace didn't hesitate.
She looked at Quentin and told him what she saw at noon today.
"I went to find you at noon and saw Caroline in the office. She was trying on the ring you bought for her."
