Chapter 409 Gabriel and Jessica Meet
Gilbert clapped his hands excitedly. "Great, Daddy is going to find Mommy, Daddy is going to reunite with us."
After breakfast, Gabriel and Gilbert headed to the airport.
Before boarding, Gilbert suddenly looked at Gabriel. "Daddy, can I borrow your phone?"
"Of course, Gilbert, are you going to call your mom?" Gabriel asked.
"No, I need to tell Mr. Lucas that I'm going with you to find Mommy so he won't worry," Gilbert explained clearly.
"Okay."
Vincent was quite surprised when he received a call from Gabriel.
For the past five years, he and Gabriel had no contact at all.
And now, Gabriel suddenly called him.
"Hello," Vincent answered indifferently.
On the other end, Gilbert's voice quickly came through, "Mr. Lucas, it's me, Gilbert. You know what? I found my dad. I'm sorry I kept it from you. I always wanted to go back to find my dad. I'm with my dad now, Mr. Lucas, don't worry."
For a moment, Vincent felt a mix of emotions and seriously instructed, "Okay, Gilbert, you must be good. If you need anything, you can call me anytime."
"Thank you, Mr. Lucas. I'm going to find Mommy with Daddy now."
"Alright, stay safe." After hanging up, Vincent's heart was in turmoil.
Years ago, when Jessica had a car accident, he saved her from it.
Jessica thought Gabriel had abandoned her and the baby, so she asked him to help her fake her death and leave.
Time was tight, and he was already overwhelmed. But that day, there happened to be a medical dispute at the hospital, the deceased was also a pregnant woman, an orphan.
Because the family of the pregnant woman refused a C-section and refused to sign, her mother cried and yelled, and insisted on a natural birth. The doctors didn't dare to perform a C-section without consent.
In the end, the baby died in the womb, and the pregnant woman also died. It was a huge tragedy.
The family of the pregnant woman then started to make unreasonable demands, claiming it was the doctor's fault and demanding compensation from the hospital.
Because the delivery rooms were closed, he knew about this incident.
He had someone look into it, and the pregnant woman's face and body shape were very similar to Jessica's.
So, he had a bold idea.
He gave the pregnant woman's family a large sum of money and offered to hold a grand funeral for her. So the family handed over the pregnant woman to him.
Having been a cop for so many years, he knew many people with exceptional skills in certain areas. And a masterful makeup specialist was one of them.
After the makeup was done, he went to see it. The dead pregnant woman's face looked almost identical to Jessica's, completely indistinguishable.
But he was afraid Gabriel would still recognize her, so he arranged for it to be in a dimly lit room.
That way, even if Gabriel looked closely, he wouldn't think that was fake.
The person who did the makeup was the same one he called when Gabriel requested makeup that day. Then she reinforced the makeup again.
Luckily, Gabriel didn't change their clothes.
Otherwise, the missing C-section scar would have exposed everything.
Vincent's plan went smoothly.
However, later, when Gabriel was critically ill, Jessica chose to see him.
And then...
Vincent never knew what happened in the hospital room that day. Jessica never said a thing about it.
He had lost hope after such a long time. He never expected Jessica to love him, to be with him. Being able to see her when he wanted was enough for him.
As for Gabriel, the two "marriage certificate" photos he posted on Instagram made Vincent completely give up on telling him. How could Gabriel go looking for Jessica after married?
But Vincent only hoped Jessica wouldn't get hurt and that she could be happy for the rest of her life.
After a flight of over ten hours and another half-hour taxi ride. Finally, Gilbert pointed to a door in front of them. "Daddy, we've arrived. Mommy and my brother are just inside the door."
"Okay," Suppressing his emotions, Gabriel responded.
But the excitement, agitation, and roaring inside him were known only to himself.
Five years. Five whole years.
He used to dream that everything was fake, that his Jessica wasn't dead, and that his babies hadn't left.
And now, everything had come true.
But he suddenly became afraid, afraid that it was still all a dream.
With each step closer, Gabriel's heart beat faster.
A few minutes later, holding Gilbert's hand, Gabriel stood outside the door.
"Daddy, should I knock now?"
"Wait a minute," Gabriel said.
At this moment, his heart was like a raging tide, roaring wildly.
His palms were sweaty.
Because of his nervousness, he pressed his lips tightly and clenched his hands, even his back was abnormally straight.
"Daddy, can I knock now?" Seeing Gabriel take a deep breath, Gilbert asked again.
"Okay, go ahead." Gabriel nodded.
Reaching out, Gilbert knocked on the door.
Since it was noon, Jessica was napping with the baby, so it took a while for her to respond.
"Who is it?" Jessica asked softly as she walked to the door.
Hearing her voice, that familiar voice, Gabriel's heart pounded even harder.
It was his Jessica!
That voice was the same as in his memory.
"Mommy, it's me, Gilbert. I'm back."
Hearing Gilbert's voice, Jessica opened the door without hesitation.
Seeing Gilbert, she immediately hugged him excitedly, "Gilbert, you're finally back. You can't run off by yourself anymore, okay? Do you know how worried I was?"
"I'm sorry, Mommy. I know I was wrong. I won't do it again. I just wanted to surprise you and my brother," Gilbert explained.
"What surprise?" Jessica asked instinctively.
"Mommy, I brought you a gift. Do you want to see it?"
"Yes, I do."
At this moment, Gilbert called out, "You can come out now."
Then, he quickly ran to the bedroom to be with his brother.
As for the living room, it was left for the long-separated mom and dad.
Seeing Gabriel in front of her, the familiar face, the familiar figure, and hearing the familiar voice: "Jessica, it's me." Jessica stood there in a daze, like a statue, almost forgetting to move.
It was really him.
If she didn't see it with her own eyes, she would never believe Gabriel would be standing in front of her.
But at this moment, everything was so real.
"I..." Just as she was about to speak, Jessica was tightly embraced by Gabriel, "Jessica, I missed you so much!"
