Chapter 331 He Found Out About the Twins
"Why are you here?" Jessica asked, totally shocked to see him. She hadn't reached out to him in days, and she had also told him they needed some space.
"Your colleague called and said you fainted. Why didn't you tell me something so important?" Gabriel said, gently placing her on the hospital bed and covering her with a blanket.
"Did the doctor say what happened? Why did you suddenly faint?" His voice was full of panic and concern.
"Maybe I've just been a bit tired these past few days. A little rest should fix it. It's nothing serious." Even though she said that, her pale face and exhaustion made Gabriel worry.
"It's late. You should get some sleep. We'll go home tomorrow."
"Okay." Jessica nodded and closed her eyes.
To help her sleep, Gabriel turned off all the lights. The room was instantly dark, with only the moonlight filtering through the window.
Even though she was tired, Jessica couldn't sleep. She had so much she wanted to tell him, especially about the twins she was carrying. But when she was about to speak, she lost her nerve.
Perhaps he wasn't even looking forward to it.
Thinking about this, Jessica decided not to tell him. After all, he never really believed the baby was his. If she told him, he might not be happy and might worry.
As she thought about it, her tired body finally gave in, and she fell asleep. Watching her peaceful face, Gabriel got up. In the moonlight, he gently kissed her forehead and went to see the doctor.
When the doctor heard he was Jessica's fiancé and saw how handsome he was, she smiled. "So you're Dr. Morgan's fiancé. She's very lucky. And so are you. Dr. Morgan is carrying twins."
"Twins?" Gabriel was shocked.
"Yes, it's rare to conceive twins naturally these days. You're both very lucky."
Gabriel asked, "How's her health? Will carrying two babies be too much for her? Will she be uncomfortable?"
The doctor thought for a moment and said, "There can be challenges. Early on, morning sickness might be worse. Later, as the babies grow, it will be harder for her to move, and there will be more pressure on her womb. But Dr. Morgan seems very happy. Even though she might feel tired, she'll experience it as a sweet happiness."
"Alright, please take good care of her."
Knowing her health wasn't in serious danger, Gabriel felt relieved. But twins? He was really surprised.
He touched his chest, unable to describe his feelings. Twins. If one was a boy and the other a girl, it would be perfect.
Looking up at the night sky, his feelings were mixed. If only these were his and her babies, how wonderful that would be. But they were Jack's.
Even though he hated to admit it, Gabriel was seriously jealous. The woman he loved most was carrying Jack's babies, and they were twins.
He pushed open the door and walked in, his eyes landing on Jessica's face. Then his gaze drifted down to her belly, hidden under the blanket. The babies were still tiny, so her belly was still flat, no changes yet.
But he could already picture her belly growing bigger day by day, the babies growing inside her. He suddenly felt scared that one day she might choose the babies over him.
"Jessica, what am I supposed to do? I'm already feeling so uncertain and afraid." Gabriel held her hand, his face full of worry and concern, feeling like he was losing it.
The night was calm, and the room was quiet. Gabriel lay awake, his eyes fixed on Jessica, unable to find peace. "Jessica, don't leave me. Please don't leave me," he whispered, his voice trembling with desperation. One thing was clear in his mind: as long as she was there, everything would be okay.
In the morning, when Jessica woke up, Gabriel was right there. The first thing she saw was him.
With just one look, she noticed the stubble on his chin. He looked a bit rough, his beard unshaven, his hair messy, and his eyes bloodshot. Seeing him like this, her heart felt heavy, an indescribable sadness.
"Did you stay up all night watching over me?" Jessica asked.
Gabriel reached out, ruffling her hair affectionately, then shook his head and replied gently, "No, I slept too, just woke up a bit earlier than you."
"But your eyes are red."
Gabriel smiled. "Yeah, I stayed up late working on a project last night. Didn't sleep much, but it's okay. Don't worry about me. Are you hungry? Breakfast is on its way."
Just as Gabriel finished speaking, someone pushed a cart into the room. The breakfast looked amazing, not only smelling delicious but also beautifully arranged.
Jessica freshened up a bit and felt hungry. But as soon as she took a bite of a hot dog, she felt a strong wave of nausea.
Unable to eat any more, she put down the hot dog and rushed to the bathroom, vomiting violently. She vomited for several minutes, and when she came out, she finally felt a bit better.
After drinking some water, she tried to eat a little more. But just like before, after a couple of bites, she couldn't hold it in and rushed to the bathroom to vomit again.
She vomited until there was nothing left, only stomach acid. She felt terrible, really awful. But thinking of the babies, Jessica felt it was all worth it.
After this bout of vomiting, she leaned over the sink, gasping for breath. Gabriel couldn't hold back any longer, kicking open the door, scooping her up, and carrying her to the bed.
Seeing her pale face and the fine sweat on her forehead, Gabriel felt a deep ache in his heart. "Are you feeling really bad? Do you want some water?" He held her, letting her lean against him.
"Yes." Jessica weakly nodded.
Gabriel immediately handed her some water. After drinking the water, Jessica finally felt a bit better. Suddenly, she felt his hand on her belly.
"Do you want me to rub it for you?" Gabriel asked, his heart aching for her.
