Chapter 789 Letting Go 2
Soon, the servant in the villa called for a doctor.
After the doctor arrived, he first cleaned Mark's wound and then carefully applied medication.
Although the doctor came in time, Grace was quite worried and repeatedly asked if the wound on his face would leave a scar.
Mark smiled at her, "Grace, are you so afraid of my face getting hurt? Could it be that you've really fallen for my handsome face?"
Seeing Mark able to joke around, she should have been happy.
But she felt even more guilty.
"At a time like this, you're joking."
She was genuinely worried.
After all, his status was different; he was a rising star in the entertainment industry, and it had taken a lot of effort to reach his current position.
Grace had also risen through the competitive entertainment industry, so she understood how difficult it was to become famous.
Not only did one need to be exceptionally talented, but one also needed many opportunities.
It required the right timing, location, and people; missing any one of these would not work.
Because of this, if Mark's face was ruined because of her, she would feel incredibly guilty.
"Mark, I'm really sorry. I just didn't want to go to the hotel alone and look so pitiful."
"So I thought of you and wanted to stay at your place for a night, but I didn't expect to cause you so much trouble."
"I'm really sorry. If I had known this would happen, I definitely..."
Before Grace could finish, Mark interrupted, "Grace, even so, I would bring you back without hesitation."
"No matter when, as long as you are in trouble or need help, I will do my best to assist you."
Looking at his sincere expression, how could Grace not be moved?
But the more moved she was, the less she wanted to drag him down.
"Mark, thank you for your kindness. I'm really grateful! Having a friend like you is my good fortune."
"When Quentin is ruthless, no one can stop him. Even if I stopped him just now, it was only temporary. Since you consider me a friend, I can't risk your future and life."
"I'll leave here first thing in the morning, so even if he comes looking for me later, he won't do anything to you."
Mark immediately frowned and grabbed Grace's hand.
"Grace, I won't let you leave."
"Mark..."
Grace was about to speak when Mark suddenly collapsed on the bed, groaning in pain, "It hurts, it really hurts!"
"Grace, I need to rest. We'll talk tomorrow."
Grace had no choice but to leave.
Sitting on the bed, she couldn't fall asleep no matter what.
Scenes from earlier kept replaying in her mind.
Of course, she knew Quentin had feelings for her; their time together was so real and happy.
When Quentin pampered her, he was so gentle, as if he could pluck the stars from the sky for her;
When Quentin held her hand, it was so firm.
She didn't believe it was all an act.
But since he had made his choice between her and Caroline.
She respected his choice.
She didn't ask Quentin why he chose Caroline because the truth was always cruel.
After all, the disparity between her and Caroline was evident: one was a wealthy heiress, and the other was a scandal-ridden actress. Everyone's choice was always so unanimous.
And Quentin, he couldn't escape reality either!
As for what Ruby used to threaten him or what deal they made, it no longer mattered.
She couldn't beg him not to abandon her;
Nor could she pretend not to know anything, even if she knew about his marriage, and share a bed with him.
Since she couldn't do either.
The only choice she had was to leave.
Grace's gaze fell on the ring on her finger, and she gently caressed it.
What a big diamond! How bright it shone!
But what did it matter how precious it was?
She would never have a groom to marry her with this ring in her lifetime.
Soon, Quentin would be Caroline's groom, Caroline's husband.
"Quentin, I wish you a happy marriage, marrying a wife everyone envies."
Grace softly uttered these words, but her heart was in excruciating pain.
But what could she do even if it hurt?
She could only endure and get used to it.
"Quentin, one day, I will definitely forget you!"
That night, Grace did not cry.
She just clutched that ring and slept very soundly.
At eight in the morning, Mark got up, which was a miracle for someone who usually woke up late.
Because he went to bed early the previous night, Mark was in good spirits.
"Where's Grace? Is she up yet?"
As soon as he reached the dining table, he asked.
"Ms. Morgan hasn't gotten up yet. Her door has been locked, and we didn't want to disturb her rest."
"Alright, she's in a bad mood, let her sleep more."
Saying this, Mark waved his hand, "Then let's not have breakfast yet. I want to wait for Grace."
"Okay."
But this wait lasted for more than an hour.
Seeing that it was almost ten o'clock, Mark said, "It's so late, she needs to eat breakfast. Go upstairs and knock on her door, call her."
In a few minutes, the servant came down. "Mr. Stoll, I knocked on Ms. Morgan's door for a while, but there was no response."
Recalling her words from yesterday, Mark's heart tightened, and he immediately ran upstairs.
He knocked on the door forcefully, "Grace, open the door!"
"Grace, are you in there?"
"Grace, answer me, or I'll break the door down!"
After several calls, there was still no response.
"No more waiting, get the key."
"Yes, Mr. Stoll."
The door was opened, and Mark rushed in.
Seeing Grace lying on the bed, he breathed a sigh of relief.
But soon, a very bad thought crossed Mark's mind.
Since Grace was in the room, why didn't she respond to their calls?
This was too unusual.
Mark rushed to the bedside, and seeing her lying there unconscious, he could no longer stay calm.
He picked up Grace in his arms and shouted, "Ambulance, call an ambulance immediately, hurry..."
Grace's condition was very bad.
Her whole body was burning like fire, and she had a high fever with no consciousness.
Thinking of the danger she was in, Mark was extremely anxious.
In twenty minutes, Grace was taken to the hospital.
